I used my diagnostic ears :), there is no sound coming from the boot when trying to unlock it total silence, when I told Skoda this they then suggested the wire diagnostics to see if there is a break in the cable causing the issue.

Thank you that is very helpful info, I will see if I can have a go over the weekend on locating and opening it. What Skoda are saying they will do is a wiring continuity test, which is effectively checking the wire for any breaks from the boot to the where ever it goes to draw the power from. It does sound expensive for what it is, but I guess because the wire runs through the body of the car it's probably more involved, then your standard continuity test I don't know. I am really not convinced it's a broken wire, but then again I can't say 100% it isn't it.

Skoda want £100 to perform a wiring diagnostic test first , if it's a broken connection somewhere stopping it from opening there will be extra costs to fix it on top Other wise latch replacement with labor is £204. When I asked skoda about how to open the tailgate from inside they said they wouldn't recommend it as it might not lock shut. which I guess is fair enough. so i'm looking at repair of £304!, as they insist the wiring diagnostic is carried out first. so expensive, i've seen the youtube videos for the MKII replacing the tailgate latch and it's 5 minute job. Don't think I have any choice though.

Yes, it's stuck shut. I have tried using the Fob to open it, the indicators flash to indicate they received the command but it does not open, the switch isn't working either, so I'm assuming it's the tail gate lock that is dead or some fuse blown perhaps, think it's unlikely a fuse

Just taken some photos of the inside of the boot. on a MKII there would just be a section between the straps , which you can pop out which then reveals a lever, but here there is nothing, but apart from a torox screw, I think it is.

Hi does anyone know where to find the emergency boot release switch inside the vehicle. I've seen on the MKII there is a small panel you can remove from the boot, and then it reveals a lever, my car L&K 2017 doesn't appear to have this pop out panel, so wondering can it still be opened from the inside and how?

Thought I would update with the conclusion. The battery was fine after all, after a lot of driving , 200 miles I would say the start & stop came back! Sick of going for battery tests at kwik fit although the guys at nuneaton were really brilliant helping me!, telling me the battery is probably fine, just keep driving it and come back for another test, Issue was not knowing how to measure how well the battery was charging or retaining charge. I bought this little gadget Which gave the understanding of what was happening with my battery after each drive and after leaving it idle over night, I could see what the problem, I stopped going to kwik fit for tests, so I highly recommend getting something like this, every morning I would just plug it in and check the level before I turned the car on. I took the dog out for a walk early one freezing morning, and saw 2 people having to jump start their cars, I thought oh god, but I tried my car and it turned over straight away, that gave me confidence, few days later I went on Holiday left the car on the drive 7 days and no issues starting it. Thanks for everyone's advice, my advice buy one of these little gadgets to check your battery they really do work.

in 2022 during the cold weather I had an issue where my boot would open, but then when I closed it, it would stay shut for a random amount of time , could be a few hours, could be a day, and then eventually it would open again. I tried to get Skoda to look at it but all they did is tried to open and close it a few times and it worked for them, so they said nothing was wrong with it, even though I explained it only happened in certain conditions. During the warmer months I found this not to happen at all and the boot to work every time. This year the behaviour started again in the winter months, and since end of Dec/ January 2023 it's been stuck shut and is still shut and won't open, so I think it is now broken, i'm just wondering how much it likely to cost to repair/replace this, is there anything I can do? The reason i'm not racing to skoda to get it fixed is because the passenger door driver side, has started to exhibit this random behaviour in cold weather this year, you open the door, get the ice scraper by pulling the back seat down ( cos the boot won't open), close the door, and it will not open again, and strangely the other 2 doors won't open either, it's like they are frozen shut, I know that isn't the case because I opened it without any problem. The Driver door always works, if I drive for about 10 minutes or so the doors will function, boot won't any more. I'm concerned that there is something fundamentally wrong with the central locking on the car, any advice on what to check or could be the problem? I have a L&K 2017 model.

If I get one of those Charge N Start kits, where you plug one end into your car's cigarette lighter with the dead / dying battery and the other one into a car with a good battery's cigarette lighter then leave it for a while will it actually revive and charge the dead car battery? Just wondering if it works if the dead/dying battery is an AGM battery and if the donor vehicle would have to have the same type of battery for it to work? I know jump starter unit is probably better way to go, but i'm just interested to see if the charge n start is actually viable without causing issues to the car's electrics etc.

I've left the car standing Wednesday night 20:30 , and just started it today Saturday 11:30, and it fired up , I'm hoping the 12.5v config switch has made a difference, effectively this is just shutting down the camera in parking mode. Looked at the car battery and it's not a bosch battery!, somebody told me it was, I guess it's because Varta and Bosch are technically the same, and i'm too bloody lazy to look. anyway I have done today and it's a Varta 7PO 915 105 68ah 12V So plan is now to get through xmas, merry xmas everyone, if it still starts after a few days sat on the drive then great it goes for another battery test down kwik fit for a final determination, if it fails to start then it's a new battery. Yes that is what the guy told me in Kwik Fit, he was very knowledgeable on AGM batteries bit of a battery geek, his words not mine.

Went to Halfords, after dismantling my glove box because the little switch thing that allows it to drop down away from the fuse box doesn't work, I wonder if this was caused by halfords when they did the install, who knows, could have always been that way. Anyway after removing the glove box still couldn't see where the magic pro was installed, so another guy came out and said it's probably in the passenger door under the trim, to which point the guy said oh I was looking for a battery??! Anyway he lifted off the trim on the passenger side and there was the box, hanging free, inside the dash / passenger side. Checked to see that the light goes off when ignition goes off which it does, so that ruled out. Noticed it's set to kill the power when it drops to 12v, I said I would like that changed so it's 12.5v, which was then met with well...you know.... I wouldn't do that because it could cut off the camera while driving if you battery is knacker, the alternator may pause the battery charging when you are breaking etc and it could drop below 12.5v and cut the camera out while driving. I'm starting think he doesn't know what he is talking about, he already spent 10 minutes thinking a magic pro, was a battery backup. The camera is powered by car battery when you switch the car on, when you switch the car off, the camera goes into a parking mode and it is at this point the magic pro is checking voltage drop and disabling the camera if it goes below either of the limits you can set it. Anyway he made the change and repeated his warning, then put the cover on. I said to him the magic pro is suppose to be installed within driver reach so I can switch the device on or off to make it easy to disable. His answer was, well all you need is a credit card and you can just pop the side of the dash off and then access the box and switch it off, there is nothing holding the side paneling in apart from clips slide a credit card in and it won't scratch anything. This I found ridiculous workaround for something that has been installed in the wrong place, I will write to halfords about that, the staff are idiots. Anyway, I'm trying the setting out on 12.5v now, I noticed that as soon as I turned the ignition off the blackvue camera went off, because battery was low, I think the blackvue magic pro is installed correctly and doing what it should when it should and I actually have by the sounds of it a battery that is on the way out, since the battery ran flat i've not been able to get the start and stop to become active despite putting some miles on, so that I guess is a tell tale sign, so I think give till after xmas if things don't improve after a few more drives it's new battery time. The link that was posted on here for the bosch battery is probably the best and a great price!, so thanks for everyone's help on here.
