57nl campaign?
My last post was their verbatim reply regarding the 57NL. I've no idea about the delivery issues apparently effecting new cars I'm afraid.

57nl campaign?
I've just emailed my dealer to confirm what the 57NL campaign concerned and this is the reply: "The recall 57NL is a control unit update to the body control module and prevents the car from automatically locking itself when unnecessary."

57nl campaign?

KESSY Start/Stop button failing
Thanks for all the work-arounds one of which I may try. However, the point is still that the dealer ought to be dealing with this. The internet seems to be awash with not only chinese copies but apparently genuine OEM switches. If they can get hold of them why can't the dealer? I'll be asking him on monday.

KESSY Start/Stop button failing
Our 2018 Karoq's stop/start button has been getting progressively more and more intermittent to the point where it can take a good 30 seconds or more of pressing all around the button for the ignition to turn on. So, having the all-in-one warranty cover I booked it in to be fixed. I've just picked up a voicemail from the local dealer to say that, if it is a failing button, they haven't been able to get hold of one for a year "due to war with Russia" so they won't be able to replace it if that's what's required. (Which I'm pretty sure it is) I'm a little incredulous about this frankly. If the button eventually fails completely then we're potentially left stranded. On the up-side, the all-in one scheme includes recovery! I feel a face-to-face talk with the dealer coming on.

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
All the above is good news for those who were about to have the belt changed and no longer need to. However, it leaves me £600 worse off and with a rather bitter taste in the mouth!

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
Not a fear-based pitch, more following the manufacturer's recommendations at the time. Nevertheless, I feel 'had' as I had it done before the July change of heart.

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
Certainly, why should it be a secret? Google Skoda Crewe and their details are there. However, looking at your location it may be a bit far!

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
Here's the promised update guys and gals! My Karoq went into the dealer on Tuesday morning bright and early at 8:15 am. I got a call about 12:30 to say that it was going to take a little longer than expected so could they keep the car until today (Wednesday). I agreed as we have alternative transport. I admit I was a little concerned at this point that they'd hit a problem! However, I received a call this morning at about 9:30am to say the car was now ready and I picked it up at lunchtime. Cost as quoted - £599 which is a lot of money I know but better than a new engine I feel. I hope this info is of use to any reader who is approaching the 5 year point as there have been some very high figures quoted for the job. Perhaps £599 sets the benchmark you should be looking at if you decide to get it done. I did as I have had a cam belt go in the past. Luckily it was a company car but the repair bill was staggering and I was glad I didn't have to pay it.

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
To add to this story, I've just come off the 'phone to my local Skoda dealer who has serviced my 2018 1.5 Tsi ACT Karoq since I bought it. I gave the registration and asked about the cam belt. She looked it up confirmed that the belt needed changing at the end of the month as that was its 5th birthday. I asked for a price and was quoted £599. Having followed this thread for a while I thought that was low, so I repeated that it was an ACT engine and asked to confirm the price once more. I was then then asked was it a chain or a belt (as if I knew!) Replied I didn't know. She replied, "hang on - I'll check with a technician". A couple of minutes later she came back and confirmed it's a belt and it would be £599 inc VAT. I ask if that's a fixed price and will it go up. "No" was the reply "I've put that down on the paperwork as the price I've quoted" So it's booked in. Since I was quite clear about the ACT engine twice and she looked up my car registration so should know the engine and she checked with a technician and I was told the price won't go up, I'm hoping they'll keep to the price. However, I fear I might have a fight on my hands at the end of the month, but I did mention 1.5 ACT several times, so I gave them every chance to check the quote. Watch this space for an update at the end of the month. Maybe they're getting used to doing the work?

What Is 'Side Assist'?
Thanks Westie. I do have a Skoda extended warranty so I’ll see what my local dealer can do.

What Is 'Side Assist'?
Hi Westie - I’ve just discovered the exact same issue with my blind spot system. Did the dealer sort it and how?

Locking wheel bolt key missing
During a short break away last week I had a low tyre pressure warning which caused me to use the top-up pump in the boot to check the pressures. In so doing I noticed that the locking wheel bolt key was missing. On further inspection it transpires that the front right wheel has the bolt caps missing as well. The last time that wheel was touched was when a new tyre was fitted last December so I'm coming to think that when the tyre was replaced, not only was the key not replaced but also neither were the caps. I'll contact the tyre depot in the morning but I'm not expecting much luck given the delay. In the meantime, anybody got a good tip regarding where I can obtain a replacement key apart form Skoda - who will probaly charge way over the top!

Skoda "All-in-one" Package
Just cancelled my existing contract with VWFS over the 'phone with no cost. As the last "eligibility check" was in July, the dealer wants to do another one - which seems fair enough. This is booked in for Friday and, all being well, I'll start another contract at the reduced rate then.

Skoda "All-in-one" Package
I've just put in request for a call-back from Skoda finance as well so let's see what they have to say. (I've made 4 DDs at the moment by the way.)

Let us know how you get on!

Front assist setting sensitivity
Thanks for the info. My '18 plate Karoq doesn't have that menu structure so It seems I don't have that option.

Front assist setting sensitivity
Do tell! I find trawling through the manual very trying so you could save me some time! (It may not work on an ‘18 plate though)

Skoda "All-in-one" Package
I can confirm there is no excess with this scheme - I’ve got it writing from the dealer!
-
Skoda "All-in-one" Package
Didn’t notice the £250 excess to be honest! Where did you find that? In the small print I expect!
-
Skoda "All-in-one" Package
Like lots of others here I expect, I've been emailed by Skoda with details of their "all-in-one" package. I'm cynical enough to realise that companies come up with these schemes for their benefit not ours but on doing a few calculations it seems it might be worthwhile. I'm obviously missing something! A 2 year extended warranty with a £100 excess on my car is quoted on their site as £312 per year so that comes to £624. 2 MOT's at my local place is £76. Using Skoda's service info, 2 services would be £245 and £370. You also get breakdown cover but I already have that so haven't counted it in as it's free with my bank account. All that comes to £1315 and the cost is £32 per month over 2 years which is £768. That's a massive saving and so the adage "if it sounds too good to be true it probably is" comes to mind. I know that the warranty has lots of get-out clauses but even if you take that out of the equation the value reduces to £691 so effectively the warranty is only costing £768 - £691 = £77. What's the catch that I'm missing?

Map update failing
Anybody tried downloading a map update from the Skoda portal recently? I've tried a few times this morning and it seems v slow and then the download fails. I'm using Firefox so maybe I should try another browser?
