  1. No, Marty McG. Sorry bud. I asked my local panel beater for advise on the removal and He suggested that I price it from the dealer as It would be good value these days, and so I did. Cost of the genuine part was €130 plus €70 for 1.5 hours labour. I decided that this was probably worth it when compared to Mick's Garage price for a spurious part, my labour and time plus the Skoda job came with a 2 year warranty. everything was calibrated and I've not had an issue. John.
  2. Hi All, Mine does the same. I' delighted ( not really) that somebody else was having the exact same experience. I share an identical experience as above. 170CR man6 4X4. There is the tiniest hint of slip or hydraulic pressure loss in the motion after lifting the clutch pedal ( but only after the pedal has reached full rest ant the home position.) which corrects immediately and pulls away normally from the junction. ( as above, Conering in !st or 2nd) I have 166K done ** the best Bit** I was fearing the clutch eating the bank balance scenario, so I had it replaced by a dealer. His tech wanted a test drive to confirm parts etc before the service appointment. He confirmed it needed a clutch as it was starting to slip. He also suggested a haldex service. I agreed. I also opted for the major service, oil filters etc. for the car as it was there. €900. It wasn't long and i started to noticed the slip/pressure drop. +/- 500k I'm a qualified mechanic, ( light moons ago, before technicians ever existed!!). I am very curious to know the reason for this. I'll be satisfied with the right answer as i suspect its its electrical or hydraulic and its outcome is mechanical. Thanks for yer time reading this and if you share a similar 4X4 ($X$) experience, let it out here in this tread so that Elesros and myself can put it to rest John.
  3. Hi There, This just happened to me yesterday and i' going to order the part posted above. 1. does anyone have an idea of the the time one should allow for the complete job? Is it difficult? 2. As I haven't removed the door card yet, will I need cut and rivet some part of this job? I cant seem to find any details on the install and removal of this product. Thanks for your time with this and i look forward to hearing from you with your help and ideas. Regards, John.
  4. And they quote from your link: "you can easily replace it 1:1 against your old clutch and it will fit to your existing flywheel without any modifications. Also, there´s no need to send us your old clutch parts back ." I would have always rated ZF as first class. A premium brand. Im surprised. I went to view products on Mick's garage for my model. and I ask.. Do we know which model of Gearbox, Chassis number or model variant are the most likely effected? I drive a 4X4 which one would imagine would demand a different powertrain to say a 2WD 170CR, But the part numbers seem to match. Also, they offer clutch kits for both Sachs ( ZF) and LUK flywheels. Is it possible for one to figure out which flywheel is applicable to them? Is there a common chassis number to work from? I have read this tread from start to finish and well done to all involved for making it relevant. I also have the Heebie Jeebies now.
  5. I purchased a Superb II, 2012 Elegance 170CR Manual 4X4 with 140,000 Kms on the clock about 3 months ago An ex lease car with a fully detailed skoda service history. An absolute dream to drive. I'm still finding the adaptive headlights a novelty. The rear heated seats are a talking point for friends, Loads of power and zest and an understatement of a motorcar. The space is enormous. Leg room, Shoulder room and Boot. It is 6" short of 5M long. ..and, Its very easy to park with a great turning lock at the wheels. The sensors and pop up parking display on the Columbus unit work great. However, the 18" with 225/40 wheels don't grade well on my roads. The VAG EGR problem cropped up under warrenty, costing my third party dealer 8 hrs (4X4) labour. Skoda, in fairness,Skoda still offered warrenty on all the parts. When you consider this cars age V's milage- Its a testement to them for protecting the brand. We purchased a 2012 Nissan Quasqui+2 1.6 4X4 last year for herself and there is No comparison in build quaility. Fact. It will depricate slower than the Skoda for different reasons such as demand for 7 seat nappy wagons etc ;) The Superb has has a large fan base with sites such as this one, which are really helpfull. Any issues that may crop up seem to have informed answers and remedies and solutions. Hope this helps. I would recommend the Car.
  6. Thanks David, This was a great help. Auto open / Close can be found in Page 20 ansd Page 34 of the manual or by going to the Maxidot display - settings - Convenience - Door locks - Auto open/ close. It worked perfectly for me and now everything unlocks as I leave the car or unlock with one touch of the remote.
  7. Hi Freedom, Thanks and I am in love.. To be honest, it was my first time driving a 4X4 Superb. What a heavy car! And as I came down the motorway home, I found it very loud. I put it down to the 18" wheels, Surface and road noise , engine noise ,plus the driveshaft and rear diff, haldex clutch etc. Stuff I'm not used to. It has a full dealer history from dealer in Dublin.. As i have 6 months warranty, ( i'm not the sort to freeload as I was in the trade moons ago ) , Is it worth a Skoda Health-Check for an opinion? Are these Products ( Health checks) worth their money or would it be better to source an independent Skoda Tech for an opinion in the evening? Thanks, John.
  8. Well, I purchased today. My First Skoda. I bought the one I posted the advert of in an earlier post. Here's is the link http://www.olivergeoghegancarsales.ie/viewanad.php?ad_id=1583109&r= I started my search looking for a 1.6 greenline elegance to avoid high road tax and insurance premiums. I bought a 2.0 TDI 170 4x4... I still can't get rid of the petrol head in me.. I'm happy tho.. I even updated my profile pic to an actual photo from the car. I will stop looking now and resist viewing more ads, - thanks davidwhite. Thanks to everyone else for there input and help. Regards, John.
  9. Hi Peeps, The Car I was interested in slipped away from me as I pondered. Maybe all good things happen to those who wait? It doesn't worry me, Anyway this gem popped up in my inbox and I've paid a deposit today to view it. I'd like to See what ye think? http://www.olivergeoghegancarsales.ie/viewanad.php?ad_id=1583109&r= Is anyone familiar with the TV attachment on the rear of the front seats? Is that Skoda OEM or aftermarket stuff? If the link doesn't work its the 2012 Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI ELEGANCE 170 BHP 4X4 on the Oliver Geoghegan car sales website. I'm going to view it on Wednesday and like to hear yer thoughts on this. regards, John.
  10. Hello Jiffy176 and enjoy your new Citigo SE Greentech.
  11. Thanks for your link and that is a real eye opener!! We have had a good few calls and I've followed up with an email of questions that summarized the call. He has responded perfectly with pictures in some cases. I have asked twice ( verbal and written ) was the car ever painted ( as opposed to crashed) and i got satisfactory responses I felt. However, I'll have to consider my options. Is there anything else worth asking a dealer as a measured question for security of comeback should one be dealing with a lemon?
  12. Not sure whom it was leased to, but has stamps from a Skoda dealership in Leeds. It has 80,000 odd on the clock so I'm assuming motorway miles. For the money involved I plan on a Skoda service including Cam belt when it arrives. I'm a family man that does less than 10,000 a year. What kind of issues with Volkswagen Management / Lease / Fleet vehicles should one expect? I haven't hit the PAY button yet so i still have time to ask the RIGHT questions?! I'm sure this info will me and others.. thanks in advance..
  13. Hi Rob, I'm new here too but waiting for delivery of my elegence! I've no patcience!
