  1. Forgot to mention..... Coolant has been leaking somewhere and also idles a bit rough so this could fix a few issues. just to need to sell a kidney or four...!
  2. Mechanic said it’s the EGR valve, it’s leaking..... cars done 181K so nothing surprises me on this car....
  3. Cheers...... If he says it’s a new turbo I’m getting a second opinion.....
  4. Hi guys, driving down to Devon on Friday and the car went into limp mode, think it was caused by going up a few very steep hills and the revs going high...... managed to limp home the 100 miles and just handed it over to the garage this morning, is this a new turbo or could it be just a MAF sensor issue..... Really don’t need a big garage bill at the moment. cheers in advance.. Bob.
  5. Hi Tresco Check my post out.. It gives enough info on how to do the fix. The chip is quite small but a fine tip will be ok, use plenty of flux and just gently run the tip over the contacts a few times..... I’m no soldering guru and bought the iron and flux for under £20...! Just be gentle with the ribbon cables and take plenty of photos to make sure you put it back together ok. Good luck and feel free to ask me any questions. Bob.
  6. Hi guys... Good news is that the radio is fixed...! basically once the radio is out, undo a few screws at the top and side and you’ll be able to lift the CD player out, be careful of the ribbon cables attached to it. The chip that I ran the soldering iron over is the small one (see attached photo), put some flux around the contacts then I ran the iron over the contacts very gently a few times with a very pointy tip. Put it all back back together again and hey presto...!
  7. Mine is definitely fixed, its been perfect today. Its really quite easy to do if your confident around a soldering iron. Its basically one chip that needs a gentle re solder. flux £5 from ebay and a very thin soldering tip........... 10 minutes max . All the best
  8. Did you get this sorted, I have the same issue but did a solder fix on one of the chips and hopefully its sorted it.
  9. skoda-parts.com may be a good call.......... They're in Czech so may take a little longer. https://www.skoda-parts.com/online-store.html
  10. I think I've managed to fix it...!! Will have to wait a few days to make sure it doesnt fail........ Gotta love Google and Youtube..!
  11. Hi guys My Columbus radio either wont turn on or it'll come on suddenly with an annoying thud (like a guitar plugging into an amp). or it'll stay on for 5-10-20 minutes then power off again with the same noise..!! I've taken the radio out whilst its been on, and gave all the wires a good wiggle and nothing happens, I've tried all the fuses to make sure they're all good, I've swapped out the radio fuse just in case but nothing seems to have made a difference. I've also replaced the ignition switch................ temperature doesnt seem to matter or if i go across any bumps etc......Its possessed I tell ya...! I dont really want to buy a new head unit if the issue is with the electrics............. Any ideas welcome. Cheers guys.
  12. Cheers guys, at the moment it’s just the passenger door, won’t lock and windows won’t work, luckily there’s a way you can keep that door locked so at least it’s safe at night....
  13. Hi guys, need some advice, I’ve lost any power to my offside passenger door, so it won’t lock and the window won’t work. Is there a separate fuse or relay for this door. Don’t wanna rip it apart till I know the simple fixes. many thanks in advance.. Bob
