My alarm has started to go off over the past week for no apparent reason, only happens at night or the early hours of the morning and wakes me up which is frustrating to say the least. What could be causing this?

No from on top around passenger side of engine. You'll need to remove air intake pipes, and egr cooler (although i managed to do one with cooler left on. Alternatively if you take exhaust downpipe off at turbo, and get a nozzle like wd40 cans have, and use the nozzle and straw to inject Mr muscle directly into turbo, this also works a treat. Push the actuator regularly and inject mr muscle through fins at 12, 3, 6 and 9 oclock positions. Every now and then reapply and itll push dirty product out and replace it with new. And push actuater again
is it best to access from the top or bottom with a BXE engine?
how do you expose the fins so that you can spray the Mr Muscle?

For each of my services Skoda have used 'Castrol EDGE LL111 5' this is as it appears on my invoices. Does anyone have any idea what exact oil this is? They will not tell me the name!
Thank you

I had a worn cam shaft at c. 140k and went to a guy near Sevenoaks. He did the timing belt and water pump at Tue same time and I think it was £1,100.
I can look the name of the place up if you wish?
Best
Matt
Yes please, thank you. although I won't be needing cambelt and pump changed as they're fairly new!

Hi,
Through on-line research, I think my 133k 1.9 TDI BXE engine is showing the symptoms of camshaft wear.
Does anybody know of a trusted and competent mechanic near the Medway Towns that would be able to confirm my diagnosis and rectify the problem.
Regards
Paul
this is the same noise that I'm getting

Who has told you the camshaft needs replacing? Is it a main dealer or a trusted garage and how did they find out?
Also do you have a detailed list of all the parts to be used and the amount of labour to be charged?
this is the exact noise that I have!

It's hard to give advice when you don't state what engine you have...

A garage I have used previously twice before for relatively big jobs. I'm not sure how they know that it's the camshaft, should I have major symptoms? Car shudders a lot when I accelerate. Sounds like it's misfiring on idle as well...

Slightly. Took it in and they told me it's the camshaft!!

I've been told my camshaft has gone. This is including parts, labour and VAT. Is this too expensive?

How much were you charged? I've been quoted 1000

this issue is happening without accelerating, driving down a long hill today in gear with no feet on the pedals, revs were at 1500

I have new issues with my turbo, previously I temporarily cured my sticky vain problem with Mr Muscle. The sticky vain issue I still have but nowhere near as much..
I always warm my car up for at least 5 minutes but this happened when I got into the car and drove straight away on 2 occasions, I noticed when I accelerated at 2000-2500 rpm the car shuddered (only in this rev range) and made a noise that was very similar to when you put a plastic bottle onto a pushbike wheel
this is similar to the noise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUj8sxfFWOk

fingers crossed

What do you set your Tyre pressure at? Do you set the fronts higher than the rears?
-
I want to avoid Halfords if possible! Unless they are the cheapest?
-
Is anyone near the Kent, South Essex or Outer London area? I need somebody to carry out the Mr Muscle treatment on my turbo. I will pay you what you want for your time.
PM me if you are interested. Thanks!

I've spent some time today playing around with the fob. Here's an update. Could this be anything?
If I lock the car with the key I can see the little red flickering light just inside the glass
If I lock the car with 1 click of the fob I can see the little red flickering light just inside the glass
If I lock the car with 2 clicks of the fob I do not see the little red flickering light just inside the glass - this is how I've always locked my car and until today I've never noticed that there isn't a red flickering light
