16" steel wheels with winter tyres for mk3 Fabia (possibly others)
Do you know the stud pattern- would they fit a mk2 Octavia scout? And do you come down near Bristol or Chepstow at all?! Worth a try!

Locate OEM part number?
Ahh, thank you. My car was registered 14/5/11, so it looks like you're right, it's the one ending B. Cheers.

Locate OEM part number?
Hi all Does anyone know of an (online) source to find an accurate OEM part number for a rear windscreen wiper motor? For a 2011 Octavia Scout 2.0TDI estate car? Googling gives me several options, but I'm not sure which is the correct one, and I think it makes a difference! Thank you.

Check engine light and low fuel?
Ha! Hadn't seen that on here! I've checked, and it's still there, and unmelted...

Check engine light and low fuel?
Hi all Took my car (2.0 TDI Scout, 2011, 104,000 miles) for a long run at the weekend, mainly motorway. Got a bit low on fuel, computer said range 40 miles or so by the time I got home, so I filled up today on the nursery run. (Short journey, about 25 miles range by the time I got there). About halfway into the drive (stop start, engine off and on) the check engine light came on. engine ran fine, no problems, so I kept going thinking it might be due to low fuel. Fuelled up, but engine light still on and after a couple of miles of driving. I read the fault codes when I got home and got P2453, P25454, relating to DPF differential pressure sensor. I cleared the codes, but the engine light still seems to be on - I haven't driven it again yet though. I was wondering, is it possible for low fuel (possibly even a bit of crap at the bottom of my fuel tank) to cause this fault code? Or do I have a DPF pressure sensor or DPF fault too? Seems a bit strange it should pop on after a long motorway run, when usually my driving is a mix of town, A road, motorway... Normally I use proper garage diesel, but today had to put a bit in from Tesco - but the light came on before I got to Tesco petrol station! Thanks for any thoughts.

Spare key not unlocking
Mine is pre-facelift, and not Maxidot I'm pretty sure. And my VCDS contact is out of action due to a motorbike crash! No worries, I'll live with the spare key being the way it is. Thanks for the help, folks.

Spare key not unlocking
Well, so it does! Thanks. Guess the keys are programmed differently by default. Is it possible to reset the spare key to match the main key?

MFD gremlins
Thanks, but I think the battery is ok. Starts easily, runs fine. Will try and put a tester on it later.

Spare key not unlocking
You're right, driver's door unlocks but the rest don't. I don't think I have profile settings on the key, I don't know! it may be that it's only ever unlocked the driver's door and I've not noticed!

Spare key not unlocking
Ps- I don't think it's the battery, as car still responds to the key with locking noises and light flashes?

Spare key not unlocking
Hi again! Another strange thing I noticed tonight- if I use the remote on the spare key, the lights flash and the door locks clunk as usual, but the doors don't actually unlock. I can open the driver's door with the key, but none of the other doors unlock. I seem to be able to lock the doors with the remote. Haven't tried to start the car. It's a while since I've used the spare key, do I need to drive the car using the spare key so it remembers the spare key and let's it fully unlock the doors again, or something? Assuming the spare will still start the car, of course... Thanks.

MFD gremlins
Hi all Bit of an odd one, but other lights on my MFD have started coming on when they shouldn't. So, when my indicators are on, the boot open light comes on too (at about half brightness) and flashes in sync with the indicator. And when the low fuel light comes on, so do the open boot and open door lights! Garage changed my passenger window regulator on Thursday and it's happened since then. Guess they've disturbed a wire or something, so will give them a ring on Monday. But is there any common cause of this which is easy to fix? Wiggle all the wires they wiggled on Thursday again? Thanks.

Clutch questions...
Thanks chaps. After a bit more testing, it doesn't seem to be slipping too badly. Hopefully there's a bit more life in the clutch, as it needs a cambelt and a service too. I'll keep driving it and see what happens!

Octavia II Driver Window Regulator Replacement
I think you can replace just the wire and rollers, plenty of kits on eBay. However, I think it's a nasty job with rivets to undo and redo etc. I got a garage to do it, and they replaced the whole window regulator. Mechanic said it was a nasty job and he didn't want to see my car back, so quite glad I didn't try and do it myself...

Clutch questions...
Thanks all. DMF (if I have one) has never been changed to my knowledge. Will see if I can make it slip (or not) in other gears.

Clutch questions...
Thanks JR, I didn't know sticky hydraulics were a thing, just assumed it was a clutch problem. I wlil try fewer revs and dropping the clutch. Anyone know of a way to check if it's a clutch problem or something else? Ideally without going to a garage... Will go and search on here.

Clutch questions...
Hi all The clutch on my 2011 Skoda Octavia Scout is starting to slip a little bit when I pull away in first gear on hills. It's done 101,000 miles, so not too bad I suppose. However, I have several questions if anyone can help. 1) What sort of cost is a new clutch likely to be? (Won't be going main dealer, but decent independent - would like to know how bad it could be!) 2) Is there anything else worth doing to save time and money while the clutch is being done? Car is due a cam belt fairly soon too, but I'd imagine there wouldn't be much time saved doing this at the same time as cam belt and clutch are at opposite ends of the engine block..? 3) Given that the clutch is only slipping a little bit (e.g. if I rev hard in 2nd or 3rd, the engine speed won't increase without a corresponding increase in road speed), how much longer might it be before the clutch gets really bad and has to be replaced? Presumably I won't damage anything apart from the clutch by driving it? I drive fairly gently, and don't think I'm hard on clutches. Thanks.

Octavia II Driver Window Regulator Replacement
Garage did my window regulator recently, inner door skin off, etc. I'm 99% sure they didn't take the lock barrel out, for what that's worth...

Bang from window- regulator, glass?
More than I was hoping, but sounds like just replacing the steel wire wouldn't have done the trick. Might have a look myself next time before taking to the garage... If it hadn't been raining so much...

Cooling Fan on, Ignition off
DPF regeneration? Was there a strange burning smell outside the car? Does it happen every time?

Bang from window- regulator, glass?
Took it to the garage in the end, non main dealer. £230! They did have to replace the whole regulator, which apparently is a right pain. Mechanic wasn't keen to see it back again!
