  1. easiest way to do it is to take the VIN to a dealer and ask them to print the PR Codes for you. You can't do it yourself any more. Shouldn't cost you much. Or: post a couple of pics - e.g the Climate control with the switch row below it, driver's door, and then the engine bay. Right hand side of the boot will also tell a few tales. If this is a 150, it's a DFGA.
  2. so that's where it gets interesting. Car has done 4200km over the last month and a half. There seems to have been some low voltage issue somewhere at some point - the battery was changed out in January, 8000km ago. So I don't get the reasoning behind this, Unless there's a bigger issue with one of the voltage regulators or charging system that I haven't yet identified. errors have been cleared and mechanics did a quick road test - no return. Let's see what happens.
  3. Torque, frustratingly, shows no errors.... But I am assuming it is trying to only read the engine ECU. My current suspicion is a wheel rotation sensor gone (probably as part of the bearing)... I will go over to the mechanic now and see what their reader says...
  4. So, it's giving me a full christmas tree. I was cruising on the motorway from Helsinki, suddenly - BIM! - and then they start, the errors. Park Pilot. Start-stop. ABS. Parking brake ACC Front assist Hill-hold. 7 errors are currently in the list. So I figure something is borked somewhere, but the question is what? I'm 250km from home (though I'm going to drive it anyway, I do have limiter still working). I figure the error is to do with either wheel speed sensors or the ABS module per se. But a stop / restart has not helped so far (doing a longer halt now)... I have zero tools with me and all my OBD2 reading gear is at home. I could go get a 10mm and disconnect the battery for a minute, that might help. But if there's something else I could try, I'm all ears. Also if someone wants to place an educated guess as to the cause, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts......
  5. Still don't have a good answer for this, but I suspect strongly I will end up with a touchscreen for the Pi. Otherwise, was back to Helsinki and back in midsummer lightness - the car really does need some audio tuning for the Android Auto side of things. Toslink is fantastic. more work to do...
  6. Picked up an SMSL po 100 while in the UK over the weekend. It's even better than I thought - as in there's a lot more detail and bass. Surprised at how much difference it makes. Now to try and work out how to make this work together with the system and / or the Pi that could go into the car...
  7. <sigh> i parked it at... 2-ish. Clean-ish. With it raining, hard. I go out to it earlier: damn seagulls... so: today was the first time I washed this car twice in one day.
  8. washed it on the way home. it rained. it no longer looks washed. 5.3l/100 is OK though.
  9. i have three, too - studs, without, and summers. But the studless ones currently have no rims... i need to get another set. Soon. DSP sounds very good now. Tomorrow via the office to Helsinki airport, interested to hear how this sounds now.
  10. my measurement microphone turned up, so I will be going to do some DSP work this evening...
  11. Couple from earlier this year: (not me driving, I was photographing....)
  12. let's elaborate a little: there was a vibration, felt like lumpy, bad roads. Started already at 40 km/h on the last bits. Was bad around 80 km/h, went away around 120. Would come and go, driving the good asphalt on the left lane would ease it, then then it would return. Not a consistent vibration with a rhythm, just vibrating all the time. Subtly. Annoying. I was convinced it was a wheel bearing. Quite possible my struts are also on their way out, the car's very wooden right now.
  13. I don't know what the wear looked like, they have taken them off and kept them for "technical checking".
  14. turns out my vibrations were just the tyres (!). now I'm on summers again and it rolls nicely again. Amps are back in again and I think I really will try to do the 3-way upgrade up front. But for now, the car is safely ensconsed in -2 at Helsinki airport... until Wednesday.
  15. took the car to Helsinki Thursday. Was decent, but the vibration at 80+ is unpleasant. Need to get it booked in to understand what's up.. first thing will be summer tyres, as I'm still on studs. It was snowing about 10 days ago... Amp rack is also mostly painted, so maybe that can go back in now. Then I think I'm going to pull a spare 4-core from teh front to the rear and get the lower panels back on. Amps then go back in, so I have sound again...
  16. no idea, sorry. I don't think I have a skihatch on mine, either, and it's a Style, whereas the Ambition Superb had it. I've been in the garage today and yesterday. My LED reverse lights turned up (looking very good, too). they should fit nicely in the gaps at the side. Realised i absolutely have to take the amp board out again - i need to paint it and rearrange it a little and I was trying to avoid it. But it's needed. Also got the additional 4-channel, so now it's time to book in for the reverse lights; i will not do those myself this time. Need to know whether they need the amps out for that, though. Tempted to get a rear dashcam sorted at the same time. And then get everything cabled neatly and put back in in the correct place. Running out of time before the next biz trips.. Been playing with the other car, too, and I thought the DSP install there was good... until there's a massive ground loop issue that I can't resolve easily. No ground lift on that device, either, so I don't know quite how to move forward with that one.
  17. washed it on the way home from the office yesterday; It was filthy and is still not clean. LEDs for the rear should be here Friday; amp is already here but needs to be picked up after tomorrow's holiday. Need to work on v2 of the amp board to make sure everything fits and sits and the lights I'm now thinking about can work... and the 4 channel amp needs a home and cabling. Picked up the Pi on the way home from work yesterday, so that can get proxmox'd and tested when I find my micro HDMI adapter. But first, some Ribero del Duero. Emilio Moro, 2020. Santé!
  18. I swtiched from the original Pirelli Scorpion to Hankooks in 18 last summer. Pretty happy, zero negative feedback. The Michelin studded winter tyres are fantastic. Use Primacy elsewhere (in the Superb 215/55R17), happy with those, too. And Yokohama on the A2. Would use Turanza again for the longevity - they survived something like 40' km on the Superb and were just about still legal. Very impressed with that.
  19. 165mm. I will check the impedance, I have 2 of these in the garage at the moment. I currently have Helix S62C.2 in the car and I'm very happy with them. I don't know that the tweeter will fit in the original hole, it might. Musway VW adapters work well. (this is not a cheap solution but it's really obvious they are very solid in the doors)
  20. i just wipe from the centre to the left with my leg :) brought it out of the lockup. Helsinki tomorrow. Lots done today: Sorted the ignition live (used Fuse 34) and now my DSP works correctly. Also ordered another 4 channel amp (for front and rear midbass), current 4 channel will run just tweeters front and rear ordered the rear "work lights" (these: https://www.valostore.fi/fi/tuote/tyovalo_purelux_panther_alpha_30) for fitting under the bumper. Made some progress on the box in the rear box so I can have a Ctek indicator panel in the box (this: https://www.ctek.com/uk/battery-chargers-12v-24v/accessories/car-accessories/indicator-panel-1-5m) switch for markers and the "work lights" will also go on there, along with LEDs for the space. Need to design some dividers so I can get the tow eye in there, along with a rope and other emergency stuff. Pi will also go in the box to provide services for my WLED install, maybe also other stuff, i have to work this one out. Lots happening.. i have a feeling I will be driving through a bunch of Europe in a few weeks, so stuff will need to be finished...
  21. Stole ignition live from the Canton amp. Man, this is damned gooooood. More tuning needed. And lots more mods...
  22. my 2018 Style has the red lights in the front doors. Will have to swap them for the LED versions. And then add the rear ones...
  23. Paint is applied. Now to find power; somehow, the DSP doesn't detect anything on high level input, so I'm going to need to switch the setup on and off somehow. So it's either with a switch or ignition live or both. I've understood pretty much all fuses around 4x have ignition live - for the moment, I'm going to run a couple of cables forward and turn things on and off manually. Can add power later :) Also put in a hole for a 90mm fan, which I may yet increase to a 120, we'll see how warm things get.
  24. Salut AAWireless worked well in my Kodiaq. I've moved it now because it doesn't really fit my use case (I drive long distances in one shot) but it was good. and you can put USB into the top glovebox if you really want, there's a couple of holes in the back. I will be trying to do this soon in mine. 12V power should be easy, I think I will be stealing ignition plus for charging purposes and data for the AA connection. And quite probably putting a light in there, as it's not got one on pre-FL.
