  1. Hello! this is probably really dim but I can't find much online and don't want to pay a garage for something simple! how do I change my brake light on a Felicia 1995? thanks!
  2. They found a constant current going through the radio wires. Apparently there was also a live wire touching the metal cage! i took it to Halfords to get the stereo rewired with a switch, so that it turns off and on with the ignition. It’s been a month now and so far so good? But I’ll update you if anything changes! Meanwhile I’ve had my quarter glass smashed AGAIN!! Great!! Poor car! alice
  3. Hey! Thanks so much for this! I’m picking it up from the garage tonight ! I’m gonna show them this and check they did what you suggested! conclusion was that it is the radio. he has not charged me for the diagnostic check , which is good! I’ve been told to take it to an auto audio place to get it rewired. But apparently since the radio has come out and the battery has been replaced .. all is well?! I’m really hoping it is!
  4. Thanks so much for all your help! I just called a garage who said that if it’s not the radio and they can’t find the drain source, that it may not be cost effective to fix. Got me quite down! So hoping for a simple wiring fix , got a couple of garage options now for tonight! will let you know! Alice
  5. Thank you! so the simple solution is that I need to take it in for an overnight battery charge and a check of the stereo wiring ? .. it does look dodgy they have used sticky tape :-O It drained last night with the stereo removed - but obviously the problem was something in the wiring left in the car?.. plus the mechanic only charged it for about 45 minutes. you are very right about being taken for granted as an un-knowledgeable woman driver. I have spent a fair bit of money and time on this issue, plus 3 batteries! which I now believe to be a simple fix! It is highly frustrating !!!!!!!! you are right about my punctuation!!!!!!! If I have the battery charged up tonight.. would taking it out for an hour or so's driving charge me up enough for a morning start? concerned that I won't be able to get it to a garage out of hours and I know green flag won't hang about! Thanks, Alice
  6. hello! so I still haven't got round to getting this fixed but regretting it now.. as wondering weather it could cause the constant battery drain I have now on my car! (see my most recent thread) thanks Alice
  7. Hi all, do you know if this can cause a battery to drain?! I never did get round to getting this fixed on my car - now having serious battery drain problems! mechanic thinks it's the stereo but i'm now thinking back and wondering...
  8. I've since had someone break into mine - throw everything around, but steal nothing but some spare knickers out of an overnight bad in the boot!!!
  9. Help! I have a 1995 Felicia 1.3 glxi. I first had a new battery fitted December 2017 after I left the interior light on! I had a new battery fitted at quick fit - as the mechanic said the old one (which was very old!) had completely died. After that I had no issues until November 2018 when once again the battery drained over a weekend of no driving! This time I hadn’t left anything on, and was really concerned as the battery was just a year old. I paid green flag to install a new battery as the mechanic told me it was completely dead, but he was unsure why, and blamed it on cold weather!? On his advice, I didn’t take the car to a garage, and thought problem solved. Sadly, less than a month later, December 2018, I came to my car after only one night, and it would not start! I called green flag AGAIN and yet again, they did not investigate, just replaced the brand new battery on warrantee as it wasn’t holding charge. He suggested the alternator was at fault, so the next day I took the car to my usual garage. I had it checked over and he said the alternator was absolutely fine, and blamed the problem on that the battery had been poorly installed with a loose connection and an imbalance of voltage. He sorted this out and told me the voltage was good (apologies my car knowledge is pretty basic!) So I paid him, drove it pretty much every day for the next month and a bit and no trouble. I even left it parked for two weeks over Christmas and it started first time when I came back! So I was very surprised to find my car would not start this Monday morning 21st Jan, after leaving it parked over a weekend. I checked oil and coolant, all good! (This is about as far as my car maintenance skills go!!) Called green flag AGAIN and last night a mechanic came, recharged the battery and did some investigation. He found a constant live wire connecting to the stereo! (I had the cassette replaced with a cd player at Halfords about a year and a half ago – then again about a year ago due to it being stolen) He got the battery charged and took out the stereo, and advised me that this should sort it and I needed to get a switch fitted on the stereo or manually remove and disconnect the box every time. At first the battery wasn’t holding charge – and tested as bad on his reader thing - but he told me he had got it charged up in the end. I was really pleased, then disaster struck, came to the car this morning and it’s dead again!!!!! I’m going mad!! I have green flag coming AGAIN after work, but I wondered if anyone else has experience with such a problem, or advice where I should take the car for a proper looking over (I am based in south London) Here are a few details which could help … The whole left side of my dashboard lights, speedometer and temp guage do not work. In the past this problem was intermittent, sometimes they would come on when I went over a bump for instance!! Never quite figured out what did it, but I’ve not seen the lights for at least a year! Sometimes the break warning light comes on the dashboard for no reason – I had the breaks fixed and they were fine. He told me it was an electrical fault! I have had my stereo pinched before so I always take the front off when I park. I wondered If it simply could be, that I am merely removing the front before turning the stereo OFF, so the box behind is still running?? The stereo does not automatically turn off when I turn off the ignition. I have to do it manually. Anyway, apologies for the long message but I wanted to give all the details I could. I really want this sorted it is driving me insane, and I’m pretty skint at the moment so terrified of hefty repair costs. Thanks in advance, Alice
  10. HI, just found that some horrible person smashed the small triangle bit of my back passenger window and stole my new stereo! I'm totally gutted as my poor 1995 felicia now has a gaffa tape londis bag window and no music. Looks like the window replacement may be pricey, (and I'm pretty dam skint!) have quotes for around 100 quid, also I have the mot due in 2 weeks so need it fixed! Any tips for what I should be paying, ideas for a cheap but successful fix, where can I find the new glass pane and could I perhaps fit it myself? Also any tips for a theft free stereo?! One you can remove or ways of hiding or ingenious cheap ways of in car music ?
  11. I know this is an old post but I can't see any of the pictures and I have exactly the same problem and need to get the dashboard off? would anyone be able to resend ?
