Thanks yes i found that out i got about 6 errors when i did it last weekend, got in a panic but drove it for 3 miles pulled over re started the car all errors gone driven perfect ever since.

upgrading seats
Just to add for anyone in the future if you upgrade or replace the seats as long as the wiring loom is the same and no alterations are needed, disconnect your battery negative wait 15 mins, change front seats re connect battery , it will throw up about 6 errors tyre pressure setting not available start stop deactivated some brake warning and EBS and speed restriction warning i think. Take if for a short drive say 20 miles with foot down stop restart all errors gone just rest your tyre pressure and what speed you want a warning at etc .

Hi i am going to install some new seats in my Octavia with help of a friend but have to disconnect the battery. Being start stop this may throw up some errors, so was wondering if anyone local had the computer and software to clear any codes that come up.

upgrading seats
Got some leather/suede/alacantra VRS seats for my facelift 2018 VRS , how do i go about installing the front seats ? Physically this is obvious i'm worried about disconnecting the negative battery terminal and losing my settings and not being able to drive car due to the stupid start stop that i always turn off , the thing is top dangerous to leave on pulling away on a junction is a no go with this thing whoever designed it wants shooting RANT OVER. Anyway i just want advice on disconnecting battery will car still drive when re connected ? wont swap them over with it connected as that is even more problematic. Any help advice apreciated i dont have the software or connection to use any programming stuff vds or whatever i have no clue with any of that. Also will have a mint set of cloth seats from my car done 40k miles rear seats only used handfull of times as with pasengers seat and drivers seat i would say is 9.5/10 just needs a clean happy to sell these on with a set of door cards from a feacelift mk3 vrs 5 dr hatch looking for £250 collected from Scarborough

Swaping the seats in my VRS facelift for suede ones help please
So i have purchased some half leather half suede seats for my vrs facelift mk3. i know how to fit them physically but i know i need to disconnect the battery to disconnect and connect new seat wiring. My worry is if i disconnect the negative for 10 mins then disconnect and swap seat over and reconnect it, how will this impact the car as it is start stop ? i know if i swap them without disconnecting it's a risk of deploying the airbags and ill get error messages even if i avoid deploying them. Obviously the battery will remain and be reconnected not changed what can i expect ? or am i best to stump up the funds and have them fitted for me Also will be selling of my seats when done they are in A! condition no wear but have some minor marks that will clean out on drivers seat literally 2 the size of a 5p coin rears are as new my car has only done 40k miles , will have a set of door cards as well but no switches in them, will need these gone ASAP well soon as new ones are fitted will only be asking £250 collected for the set, Collection from Scarborough

Who's got a Rallye Green VRS?
Rally green is the best colour for a hatchback but it just looks wrong on the estate, I have a red estate vrs only other colour id have an estate would be metallic grey , not the awful undercoat grey. But I also have a rally green hatch and it looks so much more sporty, I guess it's marmite you either love it or hate it. My wife hated it when I got it but now she thinks it's OK , YOUD NEVER LOSE IT IN A CAR PARK. The colour would sell the car even if it took a week longer someone would want that colour. If I got a brand new car which I never will , but if I did I'd have rally green again it looks great when polished, as does my red one. Black metallic also looks great but only for about 10 mins then needs dusting over again. Here is my car not very sunny so doesn't show it off at it's best looks lovely in the light when the metallic paint gives it's best. Has anyone fitted VRS mk4 seats into a mk3 facelift
AS per title has anyone successfully fitted mk4 seats into a mk3 octavia vrs. do you have any photos , and did anything need modding or was it a strait swap out.

it is you were just very lucky indeed yours were worth double what you paid for them . rare to find these not badly scuffed and original most have been refurbed and the diamond cut painted over , the cheap easy refurb that looks nasty compared .

Cam belt replacement ( Dayco kit ? or best recommendation please
I need my cam belt doing on both my vrs one is older and I had a new cam belt done around 4 yrs ago at Indi garage cant remember what kit it was but know it was around £130 inc water pump , and I have one that is 4 yrs old low miles but will get it done next year . I personally wouldn't buy an original if they are known by Skoda to go because they are 5yrs old , the other kits are made to same spec as for other cars that go by milage normal around 100k , to be safe id go for a none original cheaper and probably better kit , have an Indi first it and get it done every 5 yrs until car is worthless than a cam belt change. I did want to get a Bosch kit but can't find one I know all their OEM stuff is good quality . Disks / pads I always buy Pagid very hard wearing last ages had my disks pads changed 5 yrs ago and 40k miles they just went through MOT no advisories at all and they still look ok although the coating has now worn and they show very minor rust in the centre , nothing compared to the 2 yr old Skoda ones that were fitted and had done 27k and were totally scored and badly rusty . They only grip I have with the cars new is the disks pads and tyres ( rd noise on brimstone tyres was awful )

spare wheel foam insert for 2014 vrs estate
Hi I have just purchased a spare wheel and tool kit to replace my tyre foam useless crap that came with the car. it fits fine but being the estate there is a lot of wasted space around and above the wheel. does anybody know if this would fit even if it needed adapting / trimming down , https://www.theskodashop.co.uk/products/spare-wheel-kit-octavia-4-2020-onwards?_pos=6&_sid=bf69b65bd&_ss=r it does state when I checked that it fits a 2018 and onwards , but to my knowledge the wheel well area on 2014 is the same as the 2018. I know the new octavia looks different but the chassis underneath and wheel well could be the same or very similar. anyone got one of these in there 2013-2017 ? if so please could you post up a photo and did you need to trim or adapt it . thanks in advance , I have detachable towbar and other thing that having this would tidy up the storage and stop thing rattling around under my boot floor.

MK3 facelift VRS TSI cam chain tensioner replacement should I bother ?
ive been advised by a greedy dealership that the cam chain tensioners should be changed every 5 yrs at a cost of around £900 OUCH! my car has only done 40k been told its due at next service ice or 90k miles whichever is first , seems very steep for a serviceable part inc fitting I know labour is costly at a dealership , should I get new parts and have an independent trusted mechanic do the work or just ignore them. I know the mk2 had issues but a mk3 chain driven 230 bhp TSI and a facelift later car at that , has anyone had a cam chain issue on one of these or has everyone changed the tensioners as advises every 5 yrs ? I know the parts come to less than £100 or near £200 with a chain but the chain is supposed to be lifetime of the car so pointless unless it really high miles

best spark plugs vrs mk3 tsi 230 and how to fit
Hi I'm after replacing my spark plugs as my car has done 44k its booked in with Skoda for a minor service , they told me it is due a major service but the only difference is they would put new spark plugs in and a pollen filter . Pollen filter was changed at 40k so not needed but as it was done by an Audi Skoda specialist that is linked to online servicing they still thing it should have a pollen filter because £30 , so id be paying £100 more just for spark plugs. So going to buy my own spark plugs what are the best ones to use and best place to buy from and is there any guides on how to change them? just to watch and give me any pointers I'm sure id work it out but best to check first can save time in the long run, but no way am I paying a dealer £100 to fit new spark plugs which would probably cost around £50 to public and £20 to them and take around 10 mins to change over . I would like to keep using genuine parts but not paying £80 for cheap reboxed ngk plugs.

The point being its only done 3k because its petrol I always have to time things with my wife to use her car . the petrol is just to expensive for me to run it only returns 41mpg on a long run the diesel gives me a lot more . the short trips are better in the petrol car but I mainly go 160m round trips and im always worried when leaving it parked up as its much more desirable to thieves. hence I want some thing that does not scream steal me im fast. the tdi is fast enough for my needs although the TSI is fun to drive and you can overtake an artic lorry on a corner LOL. I want to use my car more hence I need to swap it , and as its newer than our old trusty estate tdi , if I get another tdi of same age. it will become our main car over the next year and will drive it until diesel is illegal .

Hi I for one would definitely go with the seats the standard ones are really poor quality compared , seats add more value to your car when re selling than a stereo does , shame you can't have both .

Dash cam
Go for a next's 322gx or similar you cant go wrong and if you want to hard wire it in place its easy enough takes about 40 mins on a warm day and the wiring kits are plug and play and are only £13 via ebay or amazon , dont pay extra for one with Alexa its crap and you'd need your phone connected to it permanently so pointless , and more to go wrong . I have a 322 and a 422 the 322 is £40- £50 cheaper and is a better unit .

TowBar fitting problem mk3 estate
Thanks for the reply , id found a thread on it last night and I think your correct , the holes are hidden by tape and underseal and mechanic missed them totally , good news for me though I know my car can be fitted with a Towbar so other than a wasted day back and forth ,nothing else is lost. lesson learnt . thanks again

Hi I have a 2018 TSI VRS it is challenge spec ie 19" alloys and Alacantra heated seats sat nav manual milage is 43k full service history all dealer upto 38k and one oil filter change from justaudivw were I purchased the car from at 40k . I hardly use the car because I also have a tai vrs which is my wife's , I prefer the TDI as most of our journeys are 40+miles ive had the car just over a year and only done just over 3k in the car, photos were taken 3 months ago but car is in same condition only done 150 miles since they were taken. it is HPI clear and I have 3 keys and book pack etc, I am the 2nd owner , first being a veteran the car was purchased in the UK and exported to Germany in first year then imported back to the UK , some of the service history is in German but all genuine Skoda I have every recipt. it has next base dash cam fitted and professionally wired in again box and recipt with it , it also has wind deflectors fitted and boot liner and genuine Skoda mats and bumper protector . very genuine car , due MOT in march but happy to have it MOT'd for buyer . next service due is a full one and is due at 50k. good tyres all round no scratches or rust anywhere alloys are near mint swap for TDI similar spec happy with hatchback or estate must be HPI clear with full service history no more than 60k miles unless you want to give me some cash as well .

TowBar fitting problem mk3 estate
I have correct TowBar I’ve checked and double checked , problem is we’re it bolts or is supposed to bolt on the the rear frame at the sides there are no holes pre drilled on my car , it’s a 14 plate VRS estate . The TowBar is a westfalia removable swan neck , it is listed as to fit my car and I’ve checked with manufacture and it should fit. Anyone else had a similar problem , am I stuck with a car I can never have a TowBar fitted to ? It is really important as I need a cycle carrier TowBar carrier as roof to high for the wife , and I’m not having anything hanging of my rear door thank you . Below is photo of we’re it should bolt to and the arm of TowBar . When it is in place it is a couple of inches short of reaching the first hole .

Having problems fitting vrs mk3 estate tow bar
Hi im having problems getting a tower fitted to my 2014 vrs octavia estate . I have a wWesfalia tow bar part no 317312 which is the correct one for my year car. I have checked and triple checked. my mechanic removed bumper and put tow bar inlace but I don't have the pre drilled holes to screw through to the tow bar . is my mechanic doing something wrong , he was looking to screw strait through from the side into the tow bar . but as I am looking at the tow bar im I right in thinking the screws would come through from the other side ? any help guides or photos would be much appreciated . doesn't have to be from a vrs just from a mk3 octavia. here is a photo of were it should attach

Swap octavia VRS tsi 230 2018 in black 41k miles for diesel
No the miles I do in mine are minimal but any trip is 20 + miles in a go the petrol at best returns 38-40 mpg regardless of what the trip computer says I get 2x the distance out of our diesel which is fast enough for me. I never want a petrol car again or electric for that matter the diesel vw engine are fantastic and problem free if regularly serviced. anyway going to put mine on auto trader for £15700 which given condition I should get as also has spare 19" extreme alloy and tyre and properly wired in next base dash cam , new matts / boot liner / wipers / rear bumper protector and wind deflectors , half sued half leather heated seats. new rear disks and pads just fitted and 10 months MOT FSH all dealer except last one which was Audi vw specialist and only a minor service which was at 41k miles and unmarked all original paintwork. I may go for an Audi TT tdi .

Swap octavia VRS tsi 230 2018 in black 41k miles for diesel
it handles great but as I already have a diesel vrs I know I prefer the running costs of the diesel for the journeys that I do the petrol costs me 25% more as I just get carried away with the power . Its to much fun to drive and I dont want a single speeding offence on my license . it picks up speed without me realising and so I want another diesel . Until then ill drive around spending more time looking at my speedo than the rd . I'm not into modded cars I like things legal and factory standard
