  1. One thing I did find awkward was fitting towing mirrors to those large, roundish mirrors - I found some that work, but not entirely happy with the ones I have (Pyramid ones), if anyone has any experience of fitting towing mirrors and could recommend some, please let me know!

Tested my old Mileco Aero. It works but it is tight.

    I'll make some adjustments

    Red arrows: tight

    Gren arrow:2,5 mm rubber.

  2. I to have noticed it a little problematic to get a comfortable heat both at floor and head level simultanusly. Either comfy up and a bit cold down or comfy at feet and to hot at headlevel.

    Exactly

  3. I am very disappointed with air conditioning and heat in the car. I have run 1600 km with my Yeti 170 4x4 TDI in temperatures between -1C to +18 C. Sometimes the rain, sometimes sunny weather. No matter how I set the controls or if I use auto, it feels cold on my feet and legs. I've driven the Octavia VRS in three years and never experienced anything like it. Someone who has similar problems.

    (sorry in swenglish)

  4. Hi,

I have the factory fitted tow bar electrics and dealer fitted towbar from new.. I've noticed that the electrics connector is 7 pin ( the book says it will be 13 pin don't know if this is relevant)

Just had the first opportunity to hook up a trailer to the towbar and test.

Whilst the lights all work o.k. I notice that when I put the car in reverse the parking sensors do not deactivate - there is a continuous beelp and the display shows one orange bar around the bumper and all the blue lines are shown too.

Am I doing something wron here - I thought that the sensors where suppose to switch off when the electrics were connected, perhaps I am mistaken.

Any views from fellow Yeti owners who tow?

    Many Thanks

    Graham

I have the factory fitted tow bar. (all 4x4 in Sweden are supplied with Westfalia from factory)

When I hook up my caravan it looks like this in my Bolero. No beep from parkassistant.

The car has 13pin and I use a converter (13->7) for my caravan. [i will switch to 13 pin on caravan later]

  5. It seems to me the simple solution is a lower hook/ball component from Westfalia. At the same time, they could add the required connection to the break-away wire that is also required by Law, but not provided by the hitch.

I thought so too, a simple soulution

I have talked to Monoflex in Sweden.(http://www.monoflex.nu/en/start)

They have been in contact with Westfalia.

Westfalia says they can not provide a lower towbar.

The dimensions of the towbar is according Skoda guidelines.

When a towbar is built and approved it can´t be changed without new approval. emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif

  6. Thanks Helgestahill. I will be delighted if mine ends up like yours. I am also 49 cm with no weight in Yeti and after 2800 kms. GB

Maybe we should make an appeal to Skoda and ask why they do not follow 94/20/CE concerning the height of the tow bar

  7. I think you will find that the measurement should be taken with the load on the towball, you may find you are within the legal limits then.

No, you are wrong. It should be between 35-42 cm at gross vehicle weight rating. Aprox. 450 kg. (4 people in the car. But you will not be down to 45cm.) No weight on the towbar.

I talked to Westfalia distributor in Sweden, Skoda does not follow standard 94/20/CE. It´s a problem

  8. All my previous Skodas have had towing brackets fitted by a local specialist prior to collection from the dealer (West End Skoda in Broxburn btw), any Yeti owners gone down this route or have you all stuck to the Skoda bracket? Would prefer a fixed bracket (have a Brink currently) and need 13 pin electrics with power for fridge, battery charger and ALKO ATC stability system.

    Thanks in advance!

I will drive about 200 mil (1242,74 mile) before I start towing my caravan .

All 4x4 Yeti is delivered in Sweden with Westfalia detachable towbar

I am a bit concerned about the height of the tow bar (49 cm) Should be 5 cm lower.

    Will return with report.

  9. I currently get 45 - 50mpg solo out of my 170 CR Octavia (mid to high 20's towing 1300Kg) - what do Yeti owners get from the 170?

Also had a Octavia vRS TDI before Yeti 170 TDI

Made a 380 km (236,1 mile) trip today with my Yeti .Here are some statistics measured over 120 km

    test1.jpg (74,56 mile)

    test2.jpg ( 49,72 mph)

  10. (google translation from http://www.automotorsport.se )

Daytime running lights are nothing new to us in Sweden. It came as standard on the Volvo 240 1975, and Saab followed. Since the introduction of Law on DRL or dipped beam during the day in 1977 in Sweden and other Nordic countries followed in the '80s.

Since then, many studies have shown that daytime running lights effectively reduces the number of accidents, especially at dusk and the pale winter daylight in the northern hemisphere.

And now, after several years of discussion, the commission proposes that the daytime running lights round the clock becomes mandatory for new cars sold in Europe from 2011.

For passenger cars, the requirement of February 2011 and for trucks from August 2012.

The reason for the proposal is the estimated traffic impact: in the EU, an estimated 3 to 5 percent fewer fatalities in all cars driving with daytime running lights. This means that many thousands of lives saved per year.

Daytime running lights consumes power, but only about one third of consumption dipped beam, and the increase in fuel consumption and carbon emissions they generate is minimal, said a commission representative to the media on Wednesday. There must be weighed against the large number of lives saved, "he said.

The new proposal was drawn up in consultation with the European Parliament and the 27 Member States, and it need not be cleared in a parliamentary vote, but the force of law in that it has now been tabled by the EU Commission.
