CarPlay and phone calls
MediumDave replied to FrankNicklin's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
There may be a better method but I use Siri to control the phone. If you press the voice control on the steering wheel quickly then the standard Skoda voice system kicks in. If you press and hold the voice control button, it activates Siri. That’s how I make my phone calls. -
OBD 11 Functions listing for 2015 Octy 1.4TSI
MediumDave replied to ajw1100's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I am very much a beginner with OBD 11 but I have managed to make a few changes to my 2016 VRS using the coding in the VCDS sticky. OBD 11 has a search function in the adaptations and, even though the different elements are not in the same location as on VCDS, I just searched for the words in the sticky thread and changed them once I found them. I have not had any problems with OBD 11 except, as others have suggested, when I tried to use the built in apps. For example, using the app for enabling cornering fog lights only did half the job (inner bulbs only, not outer ones) but using the adaptations listed in the sticky thread worked like a charm. -
When I specced 4x4 VRS, one of the differences the 4x4 made was that the normal lowered VRS suspension from Skoda could not be fitted and the ride height is the normal one. I was told this was to do with the Haldex diff. The ride height suits me due to the roads I use but I’m curious why Skoda couldn’t lower the suspension when after market kits can.

Yes. When I bought the next gen version, they hadn’t sorted out the IOS app other than to use the OBDEleven mini apps. Since then the main app got updated and you can now do adaptations and long coding on IOS.

I have now tried 3 different old Android devices with my OBDEleven NextGen but all of them have resulted in “Unfortunately OBDEleven has stopped working” when I try to connect. I can connect to the OBDEleven dongle with an IOS device so I know it is working but, of course, only some of the functions are available on IOS. The Android devices have ranged from Android 4.4 to Android 9, all with the same result. I have tethered each one to my iPhone so that they have an internet connection. I wondered if I would have a different result if I put a SIM card in the device instead of tethering. Is anyone able to advise why I always get the same message and, more importantly, tell me how to make it work? I would even buy a cheap Android device if someone can recommend one that will definitely work. Thank you for your help. Dave

Things worth doing before selling
MediumDave replied to Luptonian's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Have you asked if you are able to do a voluntary termination? Then you could just hand it back. -
Timpson, the key cutting place, do car keys including programming them. Might be worth asking them how much they would charge.

I recently enabled this and, after a couple of weeks, turned it off again. Selecting main beam myself is second nature but I found I was having to monitor the assist function in case it didn’t do what I wanted. It’s supposed to help but I found it distracting wondering if it was going to work as I would want it to and intervening when it didn’t.

What was the solution? Does anyone else know how I can fix the issue? The outer bulbs are the ones that really make the difference and they are the ones that are missing.

I got logos for all stations, some from the file on the Skoda portal and some downloaded from internet searches. However, they don’t all stay and I end up with text on the left and what appears to be a blank black square on the right. From some angles I can just make out the letters DAB in the black square.

How did you fix it?

Mine auto generates logos for some but not all stations. I have added the rest from the file on the Skoda Update Portal. For some reason they all stay on some views but not on the station info screen. Channels like Heart dump their logo. If you look really carefully you can just see a dark DAB logo where the radio station logo was. Does anyone know how to stop these logos from disappearing?
