Might be a silly question but….why do you take the wheel aero covers off? I assume you asked the dealer to remove them. Is it so the wheels are easy to clean, or just the look of them? Thanks. 🙂

Some really good info on here. So when I get my new vRS, should I use the decontamination spray and then clay bar it, or just use the decontamination spray without clay bar? Just wondering if clay bar is required as well on a new car? Thanks.

Hi, I tend to keep my cars a while too! My current vRS is a 16 plate. At first I had something called Diamondbrite put on it which was pretty good. After a few years I took a clay bar to the car and was surprised with how much rubbish came out of the paintwork. After rinsing and drying the car I applied some wax from Bilt Hamber. This provided great beading , protection and cover. I recently applied again and the car looks great. Apparently you should clay bar every year but I haven’t. My car still looks lovely. Anyway I am getting a new vRS in November. No paint protection from a dealer this time - I will do it myself, with a clay bar again, then wax, and maybe an ‘easy to apply’, decent ceramic coating, but not 100% sure yet. Somebody on here may have a different/ better idea. Good luck! Oh and I reckon you have another couple of cars in you….💪🤞👍🙂💥

Hi, I am still considering buying a new Octavia vRS estate petrol, to replace my 9 year old mk 3. There is a possibility I will need to tow in the future- either a horse box size , or a small bike trailer. My question is do I spec the towbar preparation at £240, or do i get the retractable towbar which is a hefty £1050? I am just not sure how much an after market fitting is, with the prior preparation completed? Anyone got any ideas? Thanks! 🙂

Thanks that deffo makes sense. I just haven’t seen one before and wondered what they were like. I assume if someone doesn’t like the system, they can turn it off? ( although a complete waste of money, agreed).

Evening, does anyone have a HUD on their Mk 4.5? Is it any good and worth it? I have read up on them, but wondering what people think. Thanks 🙂

So I drove the vRS and the 1.5, the 1.5 was well specced, it was nice, but the vRS was much better. Suspension different, and obviously the power was stronger. The car I drove had been quickly sold on Cinch, so the dealer is sourcing me a car which will hopefully come in soon. Pretty much gave me what I wanted for my Mk 3 and chucked in some sweeteners, so I am waiting for the second Graphite Grey vRS to come in so I can see it and potentially get it. 🤞

Fair enough! Well on Saturday I am looking at a 23 plate VRs which avoids the lux car tax, and will test drive a 1.5 to compare it. Yes I see you pointsvsnd I am probably gonna agree! 🙂🙂

And it says only available to current Seat/ Cupra owners. :(

Another good point but I guess I would be paying the luxury car tax if the original, list price was over 40k. I was trying to avoid that. :)

Thanks for replying, you both make some good points. I got my current vRS from new, it’s a 220 2016, nothing wrong with it, it’s done 86k, just thinking about a change. I like the power but I don’t use it enough, I bought it because it came with a good bit of kit. I may look at a 1.5 and just se how expensive they get with the extras. Thanks again.

Evening all, do I exchange my current vRS and buy a new vRS at 40 grand plus and pay luxury car tax for 5 years, to downgrade and buy a 1.5tsi and save the lux car tax? What do people think apart from the obvious power difference? Thanks.

I got about 50000 out of my crossclimates, just changed the front 2 as they were down to legal limit, the rear are feathered on the inside edges, down to 2mm but the rest has about 4-5mm. I will probably leave it another couple of months and then get them changed. And them swap them about as suggested above. 🙂

Hi there, anyone else have a problem with feathering on the inside edges of their rest tyres on an Octavia Estate?

Good evening all, my 2016 petrol VRS has now done 65000m. Yesterday the EPC light came on , stayed on, until,I switched the engine off and on again. It hasn’t reappeared, should I be concerned? Could short crap 5 minute journeys ( my wife), be causing it? Thanks for any answers. 🙂

Hi everyone. My heated windscreen keeps switching itself on. I know this because it shows up as in use in the Maxidot display. I can toggle it’s switch to on and off, but it still stays on - sometimes it will switch off when the Climate Control is switched on. Anyone had this problem before? Thanks
