  1. In another thread I was investigating SmartLink suddenly not connecting to my phone, which I thought might be the wiring to the USB connector, but it wasn't. I have now "solved" the problem which is due to a bug introduced by the November security update to Android 8.0 Oreo. My phone is a Nexus 5X but it may apply to others that have had this update. The solution is as follows: settings->system->about->phone tap "build number" 7 times that will enable developer options settings->system->developer options. Enable "USB debugging". Verify USB status under "connected devices". Then disable USB debugging. Incidentally the bug prevents connecting from a phone to a PC via USB, the solution is the same. No doubt Google will fix the bug when they have had enough complaints.
  2. I removed the gearstick gaitor and there are 2 screws which release the cubby hole (it would have been an ashtray in a previous age). The little iPod/Aux panel does not come out but you can get to the USB and AUX connectors anyway. Unfortunately it all looked good so I am no further forward with my SmartLink not connecting problem.
  3. I didn't have any success with this. I assume I should be trying to push something thin into the slit which is about 10mm into the "roof" of the little cubby hole. It is very hard to get at as there is not much room for a hand and a tool. I tried a small loyalty card but it was too thick. Any idea what I could use? If you have a picture it would help, especially if it shows what tool they are using to do the prising.
  4. Thanks, I will try it when there is some daylight. Just to be clear, you mean prise it up from one end?
  5. Smartlink has stopped connecting to my phone via the USB cable. I have tried different cables and phones without success although one of the combinations gave an intermittent connection. I would like to check the wiring at the rear of the USB socket but I don't know how to remove the little panel it is mounted on - any advice would be welcome.
  6. Thanks folks, It seems I can leave it in Auto with only the occasional need to demist or recirculate, which is excellent. My previous car was a Mk5 Golf which I had from new for 11 years. It was a very good car but the Climatic control was no better than a manual ac and heater. Incidentally, a lot of things looked familiar when I first got in my Yeti as they were old Golf parts.
  7. I got my 1.2Tsi SE Yeti new at the end of November 2016. Apart from occasionally using the demist function I have left the Climatronic on Auto and just adjusted the temperature. Now that the weather is getting warmer I might need to use some of the other controls. My previous car was a Golf with Climatic AC which was not perfect but I knew what to do under various circumstances as it just controlled the temperature, all the distribution, fan speed etc was down to me. I have read the manual but what have others found is the best way to control the Climatronic to remain comfortable without too much fiddling?
  8. No, just foot off clutch, which of course means in neutral. If the DSG works the same as my daughter's Smart car then that is much better, only a firm press on the brake will activate the stop. I have got used to the start-stop but I certainly wouldn't pay extra for it.
  9. My 2016 1.2Tsi manual does not need the handbrake to be applied - I wish it did.
  10. 2016 1.2 tsi manual - When I apply the brakes after reversing I get clunk from the front of the car. I see from the Fabia forum that this is probably the brake pads moving and not a problem. Can other Yeti owners confirm this?
  11. Tried covering the holes but it made no difference. Went for a run with no caps on the roof rails and the noise was gone. On closer inspection I noticed the "socket" that takes the plastic clip in the middle of the cap had been filled with black silicon sealer or similar, same on both sides of the car. I assume this was Skoda's idea to prevent the caps flying off as reported elsewhere. The problem seems to be that this didn't work very well, and with the silicon in the way, the clip then doesn't engage properly and the cap was vibrating causing the noise. I removed the silicon, it just peeled away, and put back the caps and all was ok with no noise. Of course only time will tell if the caps fly off! If you ever take the caps off it's worth checking if you have the silicon and removing it, as it gets in the way of putting the caps back properly. The silicon idea would only work, if at all, if you put the caps on while the silicon is still liquid.
  12. Hi All, I have had my Yeti Outdoor from new for about a month and it had developed a tapping/rattling noise, a bit like hailstones, from above the driver's head. It only happens above 60MPH. I suspect the roof rails, as they are the only thing there, but I removed the end caps and checked the bolts and there is nothing obviously wrong. Note that I don't have roof bars just the roof rails. Before I contact a dealer has anyone had a similar problem and know what's wrong?
