  1. Sorry, I don't know and it's not something i have heard of. Sounds like a load of rubbish to me.
  2. Yes very easy, just select the option and apply. No errors or anything. No it won't turn off as the stop start only cuts the engine not the power, so DLR lights, radio, headlights, and rear lights etc still work as normal when the Stop/Start function kicks in.
  3. Thanks for this, very helpful. How would we know which one to use? I know firmware updating can be fraught with issues though.
  4. Sometime people might be reading the subject, but not have time to reply and may reply later. Like me Anyway, I've used Carista on my car and anything you change can be changed back. I've enabled the Hill Hold, and like the one you want, the rear Scandinavian DLR lights, as well as a couple of others. You will be fine changing things via Carista. These things are tested a lot before being released to the public.
  5. Yes! Funnily enough my daughters phone which we got for her a few weeks ago updated to iOS 14 when she first got it. When we tried out her new phone in the car to try out the Apple Car Play etc, the music, both Deezer and Amazon Music both were crackly. We wasn't using an original Apple cable, so i just put it down to this. Both my wife and myself have Android phones which doesn't have any issues playing music from Deezer or Amazon Music. I haven't had a chance to try her iPhone in the car with an original Apple cable as yet.
  6. My daughters iPhone was updated to iOS 14 and works absolutely fine in our Fabia
  7. I have found the weather has played a big part in me trying to keep my car clean and looking good. Given most of the country (apologies if you haven't) has had detailing unfriendly weather since early in the year. Sometimes it gets to the evening when it is an ideal time, but i just can't bothered to drag all the stuff out etc.
  8. To be honest i don't know if it is on a fixed or variable service, it was not something i was made aware of during the handover. I might just have to call the dealership i got it from, even though i had bad service from them in the past (long story)
  9. What has been mentioned about the price difference is the main reason for raising this query. The Skoda dealers want £169, whereas elsewhere I have been quoted a lot lot cheaper, for what basically is an oil change😠
  10. Thanks, as mentioned in my original post, we can't find our T&C agreement. I think I will just get it done at an approved place, i just had bad experience with the 2 dealerships that are local to me, so they have lost my trust completely. Thanks again.
  11. Hi, Apologies if this has been asked before, I've searched but couldn't find the definite answer. My Fabia was due it's 1st service during the Covid lockdown, so now things are sort of back to normal(ish) does anybody know if I must get my car serviced at a Skoda dealer/place with the electronic log book thing when my car is purchased via Skoda/VW PCP? I've tried looking for my PCP finance stuff for the T&C's but my wife has put them somewhere, but can't remember where. I've got a very good independent mechanic I trust, but he doesn't have the electronic log book thing, so will a paper receipt/log of the work done satisfy Skoda when I trade the car in, probably with Skoda again? Many thanks:)
  12. I've got this engine in my Fabia. It drives fine, and wouldn't hesitate in buying one again. People who have been in the car are surprised how nippy/quick it is and don't know what spec or engine it is. Most of our driving is around town and dual carriageways/A roads. We have just come back from a short break holiday, the boot was fully loaded (having a wife and daughter who take everything but the kitchen sink with them) and the car was fine and at no point did i feel the car was under powered. I've had `fast' and bigger/turbo'd cars (Golf TDI/Toyota RAV4) and don't drive my Fabia any different. The reason I got this car is because I got a loan one for 2 weeks whilst my Citigo was at the dealers for a clutch problem. I did'nt know what engine it had or anything, but was impressed how it drove. When I took it back I asked the dealership what engine it had and was really surprised when the woman told me. She laughed and said "yes, we often get that reaction, as people think it will be a slow lump". This is an argument I have on various forums as people only see the spec on paper and automatically and think it will be a lumbering slow granny car, but i know it is not.
  13. The leaving/coming home option lights can be enabled via Carista. Much cheaper than the dealer and you can also do other customization things as well : https://caristaapp.com/vehicles/skoda/fabia/nj
  14. Some of the Timpsons key cutting/shoe repair places do car keys with the programming etc. Mother in law had hers done recently in the Sainsburys she shops at, and its alot cheaper than a dealer. https://www.timpson.co.uk/services/car-keys
  15. I had the same problem with my radio when I fitted my Dashcam. I put a couple of ferrite cores on the dash cam power cable and the problem was solved. I put one near the camera and one near the start of the other end of the power cable. Problem was solved with a cheap fix.
  16. Might be worth popping into a Timpsons shop as they can cut and program car key's. Not sure about the KESSY GO though, but worth asking (or calling)?
  17. I use a Saris Bones on the back of my Fabia without any issues. I used to have roof bars on my old cars, but got fed up getting new fitting kits and having to lump my mountain bike up onto the roof. With the Saris Bones, I can just put it on and take it off as and when I need it and not have the constant wind noise of roof bars etc. I've had since my Citigo so is easy to change from car to car.
  18. I think the Nextbase hardwire kit is better quality, as I had this in my Citigo without any radio issues. I got a hardwire kit from Amazon which had good reviews, to go in my Fabia which caused the issues, but in hindsight wish I just stuck to the Nextbase one.
  19. Yes I got the pack of 10 from Amazon delivered next day as I have Prime. I did a test first, I unplugged the dashcam from the fuse box then I went for a drive and the radio was perfectly clear as it should be so knew it was the hardwire kit. I got back put a couple of ferrite core things on each end connected to the fuse box again and redid the test drive. Again the radio was perfect.
  20. No I hadn't previously, but I ordered some from amazon (3mm core) as I saw this as a possible solution, I fitted one each end and bingo! I now have perfect DAB and FM reception. Thanks for the suggestions and advice, finally can listen to radio again without constantly changing channels!
  21. OK thanks, I know some cars have DAB receivers at the front of the car
  22. I'm trying to work out why I get such bad reception of my radio, both DAB & FM through a process of elimination and before taking it back to the dealer. I'm now at the point of wondering if it is my dashcam which I have hardwired to the fuse box (wire is hidden around the screen, down the A-pillar etc) is causing interferance as I've read this can happen. So I was just wondering if the DAB aerial is intergated into the FM roof aerial or is it somewhere else in the car? Never had this before with previous cars so trying to work out why its happening with my Fabia Many thanks
  23. Yes, just googled it after you posted and it looks like the Octy's have them, just not the Fabia's for some reason. Strange.
  24. Didn't know there was such a thing, my '19 model doesn't have them.
  25. As mentioned, by vc-10 the blind spot monitor can't be enabled by VCD. The options I've enabled on my Blue/Black colour edition via the Carista app/OBD2 is: Needle sweep, Scandinavian DRL which enable the rear lights to be on as well as the front DRL, anti-hijack door lock when the car gets above 5mph (wifey wanted this) and cornering fog lights. I've also enabled Hill Hold which was part of the `beta' release of the app, so not sure if it is in the current non-beta version.
