I'd say there is quite a variation in the cars with some lower and some higher or maybe all higher but at different levels.

Yeah that's what I was lead to believe, I was expecting it to be honest. I wish we could get Super Plus Unleaded in Ireland as I bet the power would be even more

Hey all It's been awhile, but I thought I would provide the following for anyone who is thinking of getting a Racechip GTS Black for their car. Basically I posted about it before and current Racechip GTS Blank states 80+ HP and 95+NM extra for the RS 230 Octavia. They offer a 30 day money back so I thought I would try it and see, if it didn't work out it would be returned. So I had the car tested on a Dynapack dyno, the one where the hubs are attached to the machine rather than a rolling road. We first did some baseline tests with the stock ECU from Skoda and to my pleasant surprise, the car actually produces 251.7 BHP, lets call it 252 BHP for ease. Now full disclosure I have a catback exhaust, but if it adds any power I would say maybe 5 BHP at most. Now for the Racechip, I put the chip in 'Race' in the recommended setting which is setting 6 of 7 levels but unfortunately it only produced 286.4 BHP which is an increase of only 34.7 BHP, a far cry from the 80 they advertise. The chip does work, more torque was produced, 490 verses 422 but there was some turbo surging that the testers were a bit worried about when we upped the max level to 7. So, all in all, it does work, but results will not be worth the €500+ price tag, so I have returned it. The takeaway here though is the stock RS 230 has considerably more power than advertised, would be interested to see if the RS 245 is the same or has the new emissions kept it strictly to 245.

Ambient lighting and virtual cockpit

Was just in my main Skoda Dealer here in Ireland picking up my RS 230 from a service, I had asked them when I dropped it in to investigate if Skoda were in fact officially doing their retro fitting. Good news is that Skoda is officially doing these retro fits. However the bad news is that you will need Amundsen fitted, all the virtual cockpit items, wiring coding and then some. Totally possible but the price they quoted me was €5K + -
I have this on my 2017 RS 230, totally normal, its bonnet has no underside padding so all the heat goes into the metal and heats it up burning off any surface water. Looks fantastic when you pull up to the shops and your sporty looking car is steaming hot. Don't worry about it, ive had it from day 1

Here is a custom ct back, Long Life exhaust with no resonator, great crackles due to this but I put back in a smaller sports resonator due to lots of drone.

Scorpion or Milltek & Resonated or Non-Resonated
colmsmyth replied to Chris245's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Hey Chris I went with a custom build cat back system, see some pictures and video at the link below. Initially it was non-resonated but under acceleration this just got too boomy so eventually when back to resonated but a smaller resonator. In the below post I have a video of the non-resonated setup, now that it has been resonated again some of this nice crackle is gone but still way better than stock. -
nice.....

I'd say it does help...did you remap or use a tuning box, sorry may have asked that previously in another thread ?
-
I may get there some day lol....i just need to coast more haha...or remap for better power and economy

thats crazy....Skoda must really be doing something odd on stock machines...my driving is sometimes almost granddad like....so my wife tells me and all motor way for the most part so. The trip computer never says millage better than 585km when I fill up and only now today it looks like I might break 600km.
-
For some contrast....here is my petrol RS 230, taken this morning towards the end of this fill up. This is the best millage to date using slightly better Circle K Miles Plus fuel for the last two fills. Normally the fuel light comes on at about 525km but still has not come on. The 13km/L is 30.5 mpg if you are counting.
