Worth it - Fabia with high mileage?
I have a 2010 1.6TDI Elegance, it has reasonably low mileage of just over 80k, it has been a great car, it's not worth a great deal now but with high 50's for the MPG and a low tax bracket it would take a lot to beat it in terms of value, i have had hardly any issues with it and it is currently running just fine and for its age is in great condition. I agree though that the tide on diesel is turning so in the future there may well be zones where the oil burners are taxed but for now i am happy to be getting to and from work as cheaply as possible..... especially when i see some of my work colleagues paying mad money every month on a new shiny thing via PCP...... and most still live with their mum and dad :(

Rear Drum Brakes sticking.
I get this with my Mk2 2010 hatchback with drums....... with all this bad weather it has been doing it more, it is due a service soon so will get them taken apart and cleaned etc, i have been doing the same as you and leaving it in gear but ensuring i place a micro-fiber cloth on the gear stick so i remember it's in gear the next morning.

Skoda Fabia MKIV 2021
Took an online look at the Polo GTI......... now that is nice....... why no Fabia version, Skoda owners are treated like 2nd class citizens.

Octavia Mk IV - Any experience with Octavia IV Hybrid?
I have just thought, is your car LHD ? Is the charging port on the drivers side...... if so then in the UK it will of course be on the right hand side. When your are driving the car can it be used in pure electric up to any speed or above a certain speed does it switch to petrol ??

Octavia Mk IV - Any experience with Octavia IV Hybrid?
Can i ask how long the charging lead is that comes with the car ??? I like the fact the port is on the side and not the bonnet as i reverse my car onto the driveway........ but i would need a decent sized lead to reach where the charger would be.

Octavia 1.5 Engine Hesitation Issues
There is another thread on this subject but with cars having issues which may not have had the software '' fix '', it is concerning though as this fix appears to be along the same lines as the dieselgate one where it fixes one issue and creates another. I feel this engine may be one to watch for issues in the future, sorry to say. I would give another dealer a go.

DSG Failed at 30k
It is very concerning for someone who will be changing their rather old Fabia TDI to something along the lines of this post...... i have been looking at Honda and Toyota as its these two which are the stand out manufacturers for me, i just do not like some of the interiors or styling, can't fault the reliability though.

1.5 TSİ VİBRATİON
If it is still happening on new cars with this engine then that is very concerning...... with Skoda saying nothing is amiss it is starting to sound like the oil consumption issue with the MK2 Fabia VRS..... and we all know where that led !!!!

1.5 TSİ VİBRATİON
Thank you, it does appeal in the estate form and with a decent powered petrol engine and DSG...... it ticks a lot of my boxes.

1.5 TSİ VİBRATİON
Hi, It was in this article...... not totally in stone but i read it that it was likely to feature. https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/skoda/fabia/108591/new-skoda-fabia-spied-volkswagen-polo-disguise-ahead-2021-debut ''Under the bonnet, the Fabia will probably drop the current car’s weakest MPI engine, in the UK at least, along with the 1.2-litre TSI. Instead, the core of the range will be powered by 1.0-litre TSI units with a choice of 94bhp or 114bhp. A 148bhp 1.5-litre TSI with cylinder deactivation is also likely to feature – and it’s equally conceivable that higher-end Fabias might get mild-hybrid tech from the VW Group as this filters down from family cars such as the VW Golf and new Octavia.''

1.5 TSİ VİBRATİON
I was just about to post on this very subject...... not for the Octavia but for the new Fabia which will be out next year and the press say will be available with this engine...... so i went on Google and from the Honest John website found a number of very unhappy owners of this engine saying exactly what you are experiencing. As said i currently have a Fabia and am looking at the new Mk IV one which looks very nice, i did like the idea of a more powerful petrol engine but this issue has come up since the engine was introduced and it appears that the various VAG manufactures have issued software fixes with some saying it has cured it to others saying it has not...... very worrying. Head over to the website i mentioned and it will be an interesting read (although not that enjoyable).

Skoda Fabia discontinued
An estate with a 1.5tsi engine and dsg sounds of interest, the current estate is a nice size but if it were a little bigger then all the better, i will look out for more info to come.

DSG Failed at 30k
Given the alternative and god knows how long to wait with all the associated costs i would take up the offer....... it is worrying though on such a car.

Real world VRS economy
I cannot answer the MPG question as i do not own one but am interested in others replies, one other thing to take into account though with the how out of fashion diesel has become, the govt could well introduce all manner of punishments for those who own oil burners in the future, it has already been looked at in London with the newer congestion charging figures........ consider how the landscape may change for diesel going forward. it is something we may not be able to forsee.

Thank you for the advice, very useful.

2015 superb tailgate rust
I feel your pain...... and i noted that on an older post it mentioned that Hyundai/Kia were top of the customer service polls...... not in my family it is not, a family member has an i10 2015 and it has rust all along the top of the rear door where the rubber meets the metal, it started 9 months ago and the dealer bodged the fix for it, now they are saying it is not covered because the original '' fix '' never went through HQ, and now it is over the 5 year period it comes under the anti perforation warranty, all good we thought until they tell us that the warranty only covers the car from the bottom of the window down !!!! So not the top of the doors, excuse me ! Who designs a warranty that only covers half the car ? Someone who is aware of a design or build issue fault and ensures they will not pay out for it, that's who. Do not put your eggs in the Hyundai basket, i have looked online and this issue does not just affect the i10 it appears to cover most of their models. I would say they are good cars for a 3 year PCP but for long term ownership...... look elsewhere.

Roof Boxes - Advice
I am looking at buying a roof box for my 2010 Fabia Hatchback, i will be purchasing the bars brand new from Halfords and have them fitted there but i was considering buying a used roof box, i have seen some smaller ones at 320L and others at 470L........ for those who have them fitted how does the fitment of them alter depending on the size and capacity of them, will the smaller and the bigger ones fit at the same anchor points for the Hatchback or am i missing something ? I have seen a few good used Thule ones near my home but the matching up of the internal clamps and the roof bars is a concern.

Fabia Estate no longer available?
Sad indeed..... the Fabia Estate is unique in its class, i too do not wish for an SUV style car, they are just big and bulky with no real benefit over an estate...... i do not go off road as 99% of owners !

EGR Delete kit for the 1.6 tdi
I guess given the ages of most Mk2 Fabia's that anything this costly will write them off in the very near future, so if the MOT system does eventually catch up and is able to detect any of the removal of the factory fit systems the cars will be worthless anyway and due for a change.

Panoramic Roof Crack
It was interesting reading the other posts from a few years ago, i can not see if there is NO external damage how it can not be a warranty issue.

It is a October registered 2010 model so not so sure, but if it is then we are close on the cut off date.

Superb 272 Sportline vs Golf R Estate
I can not say one way or the other in regards how each ride, but i can say for sure that a Golf R will bring a great deal of unwelcomed attention from the Ne'er-do-well's, it and a few others (S Audi's/M BMW's etc) will always mean your at a highter risk of an aggravated burglary or such than any other type of car. It should be taken into account and i do not just mean in insurance terms, but general wellfare of your family and if you have children in the house.

Best Main Dealer - Manchester
wow it must be bad out there.

High mileage 1.6 TDI - My experiencez
Yes it could be simple pot luck, i do short journeys...... use the cheap fuel, it has never been near a main dealer for services etc, and it has been great, it is difficult to say why some cars cost a fortune and others do not.

Best Main Dealer - Manchester
Can anyone who has experience recommend a good main dealer in Manchester, one that is honest and will look on favorably an anti perforation claim ? Thanks
