We picked up our Scala just over a week ago. Had a lot of tar spots that needed removing. Gtechniq W7 made light work of that. Got a few swirl marks that need some attention. A job for a summer evening when the sun goes down a bit.

Scala - I like!
I've just traded in my 68 Plate Octavia 1.5 TSI SE L last week for a 22 Plate Scala 1.0 TSI 110 SE L. We only had few payments left on our pcp deal and had quite a bit of positive equity on the Octavia. We started having a look around. There were no octys in our price range so looked at a Kamiq, it was a 1.0 TSI DSG, it was nice enough to drive but liked the Scala more. The Scala is easier on the eye than the Kamiq. The 1.0 TSI performs well enough. Mainly short cummutes to work and the occasional longer journey. The Scala is very good to drive whilst not as spacious as the Octavia it certainly ticks all the boxes. The virtual cockpit is nice, the 9.2" infotainment system and interior is very nice. We have the KESSY system, reversing camera and it also has a tow bar. That will be handy for a bike rack.

1.5TSI Boost pressure sensor
Did you ever manage to get the racechip fitted? I have a TDI Tuning box and can't get into the second boost sensor.

The Wax/Car Cleaning/Detailing Product Review Thread
Washed my Octy and our daughters Ibiza today. 1. I used Auto Glyms Polar Collection. 2. Purchased from Amazon (price has gone up since I bought it earlier this week) - https://amzn.eu/d/2PxiH12 3.Start with the Polar Blast Snowfoam. Works pretty well. Had previously been using Auto Smarts snowfoam and this works maybe a little better. Rinse off the snowfoam and moved onto the Polar wash which is also applied using the snow foam lance, so don't make up too much snowfoam or you will waste product. Went over with sponge and hot water. Then Rinsed. Again don't make up more wash mix than needed as the snowfoam bottle is again used to apply the next stage. The next stage is Polar Seal, a hydrophobic protective coating. Spray on, they say no more than 4 cap fulls to 500mls water. Applied with the snowfoam bottle. Then Rinsed off. Then dry vehicle. 4.It started to rain when I was mid drying and the hydrophobic properties were obvious and excellent beading. Quite a satisfying product.

Increased engine response with OBD11 (MODE AUDI)
I did this in my Octavia 1.5 tsi. It knocked out the cruise control and the difference wasn't enough to be worth it. Reverted back to original setting and got the CC back. OBDeleven is handy for plenty other things.

1.5TSI Octavia Real World MPG
Travelling 11 miles to my wife's work to pick her up I was getting 57mpg. That's doing 50mph on an A road. Long term mpg is sitting at 47 mpg. When I got the car 2 weeks ago the long term was sitting at 36mpg. I suspect it had only been used around town. Driving economically it's easy to get 50+mpg in this model. Can't complain too much with that.

Then it peed down rain...

Skoda Octavia 3 Owners register
I pick up a MK 3 Octy 1.5 TSI SE L 68 plate tomorrow. It replaces my Rapid 1.2 TSI SE 65 plate, which I've had for the guts of 5 years.

Air Con- Rapid
As thinks turn out. I'm not doing anything with the air con. I spied a nice Octavia at our local car dealership. He made a very offer for the Rapid as he doesn't have enough cars of that type on his forecourt. So on Wednesday I pick up a 68 plate Octavia 1.5 tsi SE L. Kind of sad to see the Rapid go as its been a great car for us for nearly 5 years but looking forward to a few more years in Skoda with the Octavia.

Air Con- Rapid
I thought Halfords were perhaps trying to get more money out of me than required. They were saying around £93 for an air con service. I still suspect it just needs a regas but I'm not an expert on air con.

Air Con- Rapid
Recently my air con became ineffective in my Rapid. (65 plate) It no longer blows cold air. Earlier this year I changed the air filter and pollen filters so they aren't clogged. I had a health check done at Halfords which showed no leaks, pressure is stable. They said it doesn't need a regas. What other issues is likely to cause this? Compressor problem or something else? Thanks in advance.

It's that time of the year again. The worst of the winter now behind us. Time for a post winter treatment to remove all the salt, grit and all other contaminants from the paintwork. Did a fallout remover treatment, thorough wash, dry, machine polished, paint sealant treatment.

Remaps and insurance - A couple questions
I'm having to call Hastings tomorrow about a planned remap. Looks like I'll be looking for new provider too going by this. Rapid 1.2 tsi 90hp remapping to 130hp. It will be the only mod if I go ahead.

Stage 1 Remap Rapid 1.2tsi
Just need to call my insurance provider tomorrow to see what they are saying about it.. I got a decent quote waiting in the wings if they aren't playing ball. Remap is booked for Friday so got time to sort it out.

Just washed the Rapid despite the on-off rain. Needs must as gulls always bombard the car at works car park. Did a fallout remover treatment. Then washed with autoglym shampoo. Finished with a ceramic wax. As you can see, the fallout remover definitely did its thing.

Stage 1 Remap Rapid 1.2tsi
I'm getting my Rapid remapped at last. £280 from Custom Remaps Aberdeen. From 90hp to 130hp 40 more 🐎🐎 160Nm to 215Nm 55Nm Torque. Only taken over a year to think about it. 🤣 Just arranging the when and where. Should be a bit more lively and engaging to drive.
