  1. Scotland being Scotland. It's spitting rain now. ☔🙄😂
  2. Treated the Octy today. Definitely wasn't a five minute job... ✅Rinsed. ✅Auto Smart Snowfoamed. ✅Rinsed. ✅Auto Glym Magma Decontamination. ✅Rinsed. ✅Auto Glym Shampoo Washed. ✅Rinsed. ✅Dried. ✅Meguiars ultimate Compound Polished. ✅ Auto Glym EGP Paint Sealant Treatment. ✅Auto Glym Ceramic Waxed. ✅Supagard Trim and tyre dressing ✅Rain-ex on Glass. The interior was done on Saturday.
  3. Houston, we've got a problem... Fault code U11EF00 Some kind of communication error with oil sensor. Oil light now coming on as well. 2018 1.5 tsi. 38k on the clock. Anyone got any experience of this? Thanks in advance.
  4. Washed the Octy for the first time in month thanks to 💩 weather. She was covered in dirt and grit off the winter roads. The snow took a massive thaw yesterday and I took the opertunity to wash it. Auto Glyms Polar Collection again. A couple of before and after pics.
  5. Washed my Octy and our daughters Ibiza today. 1. I used Auto Glyms Polar Collection. 2. Purchased from Amazon (price has gone up since I bought it earlier this week) - https://amzn.eu/d/2PxiH12 3.Start with the Polar Blast Snowfoam. Works pretty well. Had previously been using Auto Smarts snowfoam and this works maybe a little better. Rinse off the snowfoam and moved onto the Polar wash which is also applied using the snow foam lance, so don't make up too much snowfoam or you will waste product. Went over with sponge and hot water. Then Rinsed. Again don't make up more wash mix than needed as the snowfoam bottle is again used to apply the next stage. The next stage is Polar Seal, a hydrophobic protective coating. Spray on, they say no more than 4 cap fulls to 500mls water. Applied with the snowfoam bottle. Then Rinsed off. Then dry vehicle. 4.It started to rain when I was mid drying and the hydrophobic properties were obvious and excellent beading. Quite a satisfying product.
  6. I did this in my Octavia 1.5 tsi. It knocked out the cruise control and the difference wasn't enough to be worth it. Reverted back to original setting and got the CC back. OBDeleven is handy for plenty other things.
  7. Travelling 11 miles to my wife's work to pick her up I was getting 57mpg. That's doing 50mph on an A road. Long term mpg is sitting at 47 mpg. When I got the car 2 weeks ago the long term was sitting at 36mpg. I suspect it had only been used around town. Driving economically it's easy to get 50+mpg in this model. Can't complain too much with that.
  8. First clean for my Octy that I picked up on Wednesday this morning. It was "clean" but didn't have any form of paint protection on it and lacked that shine. Wasn't beading or repelling water at all ✅Rinsed ✅Snowfoamed ✅Rinsed ✅pH neutral shampooed ✅Rinsed ✅Dried ✅Paint Sealant Treatment ✅Ceramic Waxed Inside all vacuumed and cleaned too. Then it peed down rain...
  9. I pick up a MK 3 Octy 1.5 TSI SE L 68 plate tomorrow. It replaces my Rapid 1.2 TSI SE 65 plate, which I've had for the guts of 5 years.
  10. As thinks turn out. I'm not doing anything with the air con. I spied a nice Octavia at our local car dealership. He made a very offer for the Rapid as he doesn't have enough cars of that type on his forecourt. So on Wednesday I pick up a 68 plate Octavia 1.5 tsi SE L. Kind of sad to see the Rapid go as its been a great car for us for nearly 5 years but looking forward to a few more years in Skoda with the Octavia.
  11. I thought Halfords were perhaps trying to get more money out of me than required. They were saying around £93 for an air con service. I still suspect it just needs a regas but I'm not an expert on air con.
  12. Recently my air con became ineffective in my Rapid. (65 plate) It no longer blows cold air. Earlier this year I changed the air filter and pollen filters so they aren't clogged. I had a health check done at Halfords which showed no leaks, pressure is stable. They said it doesn't need a regas. What other issues is likely to cause this? Compressor problem or something else? Thanks in advance.
  13. Just finished and it starts raining... Shock. Cleaned inside and out. Rinse, snow foam, rinse, two bucket wash, ceramic waxed. Inside got upholstery cleaned, vacuumed, and a damned good clean.
  14. It's that time of the year again. The worst of the winter now behind us. Time for a post winter treatment to remove all the salt, grit and all other contaminants from the paintwork. Did a fallout remover treatment, thorough wash, dry, machine polished, paint sealant treatment.
  15. Beading from last weekends wash. Was finished with Ultra Clean Ceramic Detailer.
  16. Its done. It has made a considerable difference. Much smoother and pulls better. Also when driving economically, it delivers better mpg than previously.
  17. I'm having to call Hastings tomorrow about a planned remap. Looks like I'll be looking for new provider too going by this. Rapid 1.2 tsi 90hp remapping to 130hp. It will be the only mod if I go ahead.
  18. Just need to call my insurance provider tomorrow to see what they are saying about it.. I got a decent quote waiting in the wings if they aren't playing ball. Remap is booked for Friday so got time to sort it out.
  19. Just washed the Rapid despite the on-off rain. Needs must as gulls always bombard the car at works car park. Did a fallout remover treatment. Then washed with autoglym shampoo. Finished with a ceramic wax. As you can see, the fallout remover definitely did its thing.
  20. I'm getting my Rapid remapped at last. £280 from Custom Remaps Aberdeen. From 90hp to 130hp 40 more 🐎🐎 160Nm to 215Nm 55Nm Torque. Only taken over a year to think about it. 🤣 Just arranging the when and where. Should be a bit more lively and engaging to drive.
  21. What's the best option? The hatchback Rapid is kinda not compatible with many. Saris Bones is what I'm looking at. Does anyone have one and are they any good.
  22. Just got a quote for a remap for my Rapid. Current BHP- 90 Tuned BHP-130 Gain- 44% Current Torque (NM) 160 Tuned Torque (NM) 215 Gain- 34% Quoted cost £299 Not sure the Mrs would approve of the "unnecessary cost"
  23. Been up to my old tricks again this afternoon, the Rapid was looking quite muddy and dirty. I used snowfoam for the first time today. It did help remove some of the crap from the car. Other than that, usual pH neutral shampoo and detailing wax. Used autoglym rubber and vinyl care on trim, tyre walls and engine bay. Autoglym interior shampoo inside the car. Finished with a good detailing spray.
  24. Great weekend for Toyota Gazoo Racing. Elfyn Evans and Kalle Rovanpera both hugely impressive. Elfyn with his first rally win in a Yaris. Kalle with his first power stage victory in only his second start in a full WRC car and 3rd overall. Ogier just missing out on a podium. Ott Tanak finishing second. Important points on the board for him after his crash in Monte Carlo. Neuville scoring points too, keeping in with the fight for the title. The championship table looks like this heading to Mexico. I suspect we will see resurgent Ogier there.
  25. Gave the Rapid a good clean this morning. Not a full on service like normal... Storm Denis has arrived unfortunately. The roads around North East Scotland are bloody horrendous just now. Grit/salt and mud. Guess most are the same right now. Quartz grey is a nightmare colour to keep clean. The denim blue was easier, showed up the dirt less. Was gonna take pics but the weather is awful now..
