  1. Sorry folks but i made a bit of a mess with this post. Actually managed to repost a previous post, but, hey ho. I was meant to start off a new topic, but as you can probably tell I'm not really goood with these kinda things. So to start again.... we've set off on our trip to Italy and have stopped for the night in Munich Germany. Left home near Middlesbrough on Wednesday afternoon, ferry from Hull to Europoort. Left Europoort this morning at 9am and arrived at Munich 6pm . So far 700 miles driven, car going beautifully and achieving 70mpg. A long day and lots of road works on the autobahns ( not all they're cracked up to be) Another 8 hour drive tomorrow and we will be in beautiful Lucca Italy. Have driven most of the way in eco apart from a small stretch on a single carriageway road as a detour f or an autobaun closure. Put it in sport for a while and was much more responsive. So all in all going well so far.
  2. Does anyone know how much difference there would be in mpg running my car in sport mode as opposed to eco. At the moment I'm getting around 60 mpg around town and over 70mpg on a motorway trip in eco mode. We're driving to Italy in September and wondered what difference there may be in sport mode. Handy to have a bit more power on German autobahns. Having said that, I'm not really sure how much more power sport mode would give me. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  3. Update on changing headlights for european use. I took my car into our local dealers today as mentioned in previous post to have the changes required. Sadly the headlights on my car dont have the adjustment part on them as previously advised. Not the deaalerships fault but they said that all the older superbs had this facility along with a few other skodas but not mine. So, we're off to Italy tomorrow with eurolites stuck on my headlights. 4500 miles in three weeks should be a good test of how good our Superb really is.....will report back at a later date.
  4. I have had a look at the manual for my car and it says that turning off the alarm on door pillar will disarm the internal movement sensors and disable the tilt / towing protection hence making it safe for ferry crossings. That seems to be the way forward for me!!!
  5. Driving an hgv is just the same just everything is in slow motion. Parking and reversing is a bit differentl though.
  6. Turning the alarm off on the ferry. I'm glad you mentioned that Ant1975 or I would have forgotten all about it. Any idea how i do that ? I seem to remember something about the door pillar.
  7. Thanks everyone for your replies. I have been using sport mode for last day or so and have noticed no change in mpg. It does however feel more responsive. I'm not a person who drives a car hard which probably accounts for decent mpg figures. (I am a hgv driver and my wife says i drive my car like i drive my truck!!!) The claim of having more power in sport mode would have admittedly been better phrased as more "ooomph" But having a 1.6 greenline..... its never going to be a sports car.

  9. That sounds like daylight robbery to me,having saidthat ... I wasn't expecting to get it done for free, but it is encouraging to see that there are dealers out there that give good value and service. I have no complaints thus far.
  10. We are driving to Italy in September and have contacted our local Skoda dealer (where we got our car from) with a view to getting the halogen headlights converted for European driving. Imagine our delight to be told that we could call in with no appointment and it would be done free of charge!!! Derek Slacks of Middlesbrough.... top class dealer.
  11. Hello all, Have just taken delivery of new Superb SE Tech Greenline today and was wondering if a fire extinguisher and cargo nets came as standard kit or are they optional add ons???
