Braking Questions - pad wear.
Not a clue what this means - but yes. "The Skoda Octavia vRS 245 utilizes a system called "VAQ" (which stands for "electronic front axle differential lock" in German) to achieve torque vectoring, meaning it can actively distribute power between the front wheels to enhance traction and handling, particularly when cornering, by sending more power to the outside wheel to minimize understeer; this feature significantly improves the car's agility and performance compared to a standard open differential. " Courtesty of Goolge. VAQ is wasted on me.

Braking Questions - pad wear.
Could it be the case that the % is all relative - are the rear pads thinner off the shelf maybe? If so 20% of a thinner pad - vs 15% of a thinker one? (just an idea) for info - my brakes were (and I suspect they guess a little) worn 15% front 20% rear after 9k miles Interesting that RADIOTWO mentioned brakes sticking. I don't think so - at least not noticable - but I don't get great MPG and I'm not heavy footed as a rule. (OK - now & again 😉 ) but that might account for wear and MPG. I've no means to test this so it'd have to be back in the garage (another different one maybe) I'm going to of course ensure I get to the bottom of this but when I heard the technicians response I just didn't buy it. Cheers all.

Braking Questions - pad wear.
Hi everyone, I have a question about the brakes on my '24 VRS. I bought it new a year ago and today it has been in for its first service. Clean Bill of health but I did notice that the brake pad wear on the report was slightly worse on the rear than the front. I've had many cars in the past because I'm ancient. I questioned why it wasn't the case that my front pads would be more worn than the rear. The dealer came back having spoken to the technician and told me that on my car there is a 60:40 braking bias towards the rear of the car so the increased wear on the rear is to be expected. I bit my lip whilst my gut screamed "NONSENSE" - can someone clarify for me please? Ta.

Skoda Connect Renewal
Hi Everyone I have a ‘24 VRS and it’s almost a year old. The app tells me services like being able to lock or unlock the car, check driving data and even play with the lights and update navigation are all paid up options that are about to expire. The guys at Simpsons near Blackburn never mentioned any of this (mind you they told me I was insured for 7 days when I picked it up and I wasn’t…). Wondering about people’s thoughts on what’s worth the money and what’s nonsense. Turns out there’s a feature that recognises road signs - that’s never been on but I can buy it for a year. I’m not a fan of this subscription mentality on a £40k motor but here we are. Every available subscription offering totals about £200. Photo for the sake of it.

USB-c and iPhone
Both front ones behave the same. Rear ones that are charge only are fine.

USB-c and iPhone
Thank you. im a victim of the ‘let’s not give them a cigarette lighter’ boardroom decision so its all USB-C but you’re right about the timing. Plugged in before firing up the car does the trick. Still annoying but that seems to sort it. for those wondering about the cable - _100% genuine apple item. Cheers.

USB-c and iPhone
Hi All. I have wireless car play and it’s great. I play music with Spotify. When I plug my phone in to one of the 2 USB-c socket the phone starts to charge - but music pauses. Hit play - it plays for a second or two - and pauses again. Disconnect cable - all is well. 🤷♂️

Feb 2023 VRS - Umbrella or not?
Got my new VRS. One brolly. Drivers side. I told Mrs C I was keeping the two from my superb when I part exchanged. She told me not to bother. Wish I’d ignored her. There ought to be two. Bugger.

I'm thinking about protecting the boot area from scuffs & scrapes - what have you all used? Thanks.

Options & Accessories Debate
It's wooden covered by felt/fabirc. Used the car for 7 years. It's not my 'belief' it would break. It broke. At one point the brackets nearest the rear seats gave way... so i had to repair and improvise. It was full up for a camping trip but didn't drop the floor. My bad. Noticed the wonky floor when I unloaded the car.

Options & Accessories Debate
I have the variable floor in the superb and it's good as it makes the whole lot flat - BUT - it can't hold that much weight without breaking (note to self). I guess I'll be on the lookout for a spare wheel / insert. As ever not keen on paying main dealer prices where not completely necessary.

VRS TSi 2.0 Which Fuel?
Thanks for your input & opinions everyone. I guess there's no hard & fast answer. Maybe what I'll do is stick 'petrol' in it - and every now & again when I've got a spare fiver, I'll treat it to a tank of the good stuff and give it a bit of welly. Might go easy on it - leavei it be and just keep using the wife's mini instead...

Options & Accessories Debate
Hi Everyone. In the next week or so I'll get my new Octavia estate. My impatience would not allow me to wait a few months for a new one - so I've agreed to buy one already specc'd and shipped to UK in return for a nice discount, and a good price for my Superb. It's the colour I wanted, but has ZERO options ticked. Not even the spare wheel. Got me thinking - what bits of accessories have you all gone for after the event? What would you definiitely buy again - or NEVER again. Not talking about the likes of the sunroof that isn't possible, but more the flip over boot mat, the bin - or even the aftermarket non-oem stuff off eBay like keyfob covers, fluffy dice or them little flappy paddle extenders for the gear changes. What's great - what's crap? 😃

VRS TSi 2.0 Which Fuel?
My question isn't about what fuel you choose to buy - it's if there's a suggestion from Skoda or other qualified parties that tells me which way we ought to go with this. I need to establish If it's the case that you buy V-Power because the marketing & power of TV advertising dragged you in - or if you buy it as Skoda advise that's what we all ought to be doing - regardless of the cost. Thanks.

VRS TSi 2.0 Which Fuel?
Hi everyone, I haven’t posted here for sometime. I bought my first Skoda in 2017. A 2.0 diesel Superb. And I’ve had diesel cars for as long as I can remember. The car has never let me down, in seven years and 90,000 miles. It’s just chime for a change. The only regret I ever had was not investing in something, a little bit, more powerful and a little bit more fun to drive. As a result, I pulled the trigger on a new petrol VRS. Forgive me, I have searched the forum. I’m trying to discover if it is suggested that my new car should run on premium unleaded or just the regular stuff. When working out what my additional cost will be, I’m well aware that I will no longer be getting 50 mpg+. I am comfortable with that, I just don’t know if it’s actually even worse than I thought because of having to buy posh petrol!? UK based. Cheers.

Tyre Wear
Booked in at local ATS for Tuesday. I spoke to a chap who appeared quite knowledgable. Booked in for suspension health check and alignment where they said they can enter reg number on computer and apply manuf spec alignments. I'm annoyed at myself for it happening twice! I'll post back on Tue when they've had a fettle. Thanks all for your input.

Tyre Wear
that's what I thoguht last time! I will do of course - but someone else... I'm getting different opinions on here and amongst friends. Camber, tracking, toe in, toe out, broken suspension bits. I dunno. I need someone I can trust to actually diagnose / sort it. It's not the cost - it's the safety. My family drive with me in this car. And my mountain bike!!! I'm near Wigan/Warrington area if anyone has any first hand recommendations it'd be appreciated.

Tyre Wear
75k miles - I've had it from new. Vast majority motorway mileage. My ignorance at fault. I took car in when close to the indicators last time and was shown a similar picutre (but a lot worse) and I was horrified. I bought new ones and they also did the tracking & alignment etc at the time. I watched them do it - albeit I've no clue what they were doing - I work in IT... This time I noticed the tyres were getting low again, back ones too (still pass MOT but winter coming so went for 4). Different garage. Same story - "It's a good job you brought the car in". This was Costco - who don't do alignment (I had a £200 voucher) so I will now take car with new tyres to somewhere else again - not first garage - to get this checked. Again. Just thought I'd ask here. It's alarmingly uneven wear on the very edge. Almost like they've been rubbing. But I got 20k out of them. Bridgestone Turanza. I'm one of those guys who I guess doesn't check the inside edges often enough!!

I’m more concerned by the wear on the edge.
