  1. I also have a 2016 2.0 150bhp SEL and spent a long time lookng for the Adblue filler as per the instructions when I first collected it from Motorpoint - until I realised it hasn't got one. Car seems happy enough (as do I) without and the £35 p.a. RFL
  2. I downloaded update for my Columbus on to my hard drive (MIB 1 / MIB 2) as per instructions - a mere 2 hrs............ and transferred to a 32gb flash drive plugged in to the USB port next to the cigarette lighter. I'm getting a message back 'No data available. Please insert with software data or check source' Can the satnav be updated this way or is a SIM card a must? My 'pooter only has USB ports................. Suggestions appreciated....................
  3. Hi Eirhead - You could try and contact VW Audi Workshop in Ipswich (http://www.vwaudiworkshop.com/) when you are next in the area. Friendly and seem to be knowledgeable enough. I have used them a couple of times and will ask them to do an oil change on my DSG over the next couple of months.
  4. I've had my mk 111 for 2+ years now - difficult to find any fault. I automatically cancel the stop/start button at the same time as turning off the hand brake. Easy. One thing which a new DSG user may find tricky is shunting and the liability to lurch with too much throttle. I find it best to keep foot off altogether and let it do its own thing, with foot hovering over brake pedal if it gets too enthusiastic. Also being a 75 year old git I find it very easy to get tangled up with the multitudinous displays available on the dash - don't get this problem with my 1930 Morris Minor!
  5. My Mk 111 was registered Dec 2016, not sure when it came out of the factory, but your note may well be of interest to others who may look at this model - the 190bhp jobbie in all its uses across VAG certainly does need adblue.
  6. How disappointing to find that this topic has again come up on the Mk 111. I ran 2 x S.1s over a 10 year period and was fanatical about knocking out drain plugs and checking pollen filter seals to stop water getting in and ruining the electrics. Now I suppose I have to start checking footwells again - but at least I haven't got a sun roof on the mk 111...................
  7. I went straight from an 07 Mk1 Elegance 2.5TDI to a Mk 111 66 reg. 2.0 TDI DSG / SEL Executive in Business Grey, bought through Motorpoint. There is a lot of difference in the build - the Mk 111 is much lighter and more plasticky, although I have no problem with the way it is put together. Whether I shall ever get to understand all the gizmos fitted is another matter. .... And despite what the handbook says the 150bhp version doesn't need adblu. The silence while driving is amazing for a 4-pot motor. And it looks the biz. Very much appreciated is the £30 annual rfl - and the 58mpg achieved on a fast run to / from Holland recently, 50mpg around town. Only major downside for me is the care needed when shunting in a confined space - the lurch when the DSG picks up has to be handled with kid gloves. Regrets on the change - NO!
  8. I bought my S3 2.0 150 DSG Exec. a couple of months ago from Motorpoint - very happy It had 12k miles on the clock and was registered in Dec '16. The young lady salesperson allowed me to organise insurance, RFL and cherished plate transfer from her office. The car has a full size spare, but there were no SD cards with it - I 'm still discussing it with them - should there be at least 1 to update the satnav? I have since had an oil / filter change (standard for me @ 10k miles) but from reading the above I ought to get a small Skoda 1st service in December. The only things I don't like are the driver's seat belt anchor is too close to the tunnel and the surge when shunting in small spaces - otherwise a quantum leap from my old mk1.....
  9. Well, I've been and gone and dunnit........... collected my '66' Superb 3 from Motorpoint Peterborough last week. I thought I was happy with my S 1, but the S 3 is a totally different motoring experience - Lighter, much sharper and the £30/yr RFL and 60.1mpg indicated on the journey home was a revelation. Still struggling with instruction manual - think I will have to book a Skoda course at Prague University................. Carefully read instructions on Adblue only to find that mine doesn't use it when looking for the filler.......... Still don't know what other goodies I have yet to find! Downsides? - have to be very careful with DSG surge when parking in tight spaces, and interior plastics seem a bit 'cheap' compared with S1 Dealing with Motorpoint was also a revelation - from driving in to driving out with telephone offer for S1 confirmed with no queries / deal complete/ tax/insurance/cherished plate transfer and me driving out in less than 2 hours. Wouldn't have happened in my days in the trade (new Hillman Imp £536, £548 with heater..............)
  10. I have been driving Superb 1s (2, both 2.5V6 TDI Elegance Tip) for over 10 years now and have been more than satisfied with value / quality of motoring. However with the rest of the family driving new motors and being age 72 I have an urge to upgrade (while I still can!!) Looking around, my budget will go to a late 2.0 S2 or maybe an early S3. I would appreciate others' thoughts on the merits of S2 v S3 and also comments on Tip v DSG. Is the S3 really much bigger overall than the S2? Or I could drive my S1 into the ground (still only 78k) and transfer direct to a mobility scooter...................
  11. Thanks for your helpful posts. The indie VW/ Audi people have suggested that a chunk is taken off the back of the gear box, sent away and overhauled, taking a week and around £500 all in.Their garage in Ipswich seem to be well informed - but I respect Jimbof's comments and stripping out the carpets etc seems nearly as drastic (and expensive!) I would rather not take a 50/50 gamble........ However I have not had any problems for a week now and am inclined to let things be until / unless it starts playing up again. Is there any way of refining as to whether it's a mechanical / electronic problem? I got the car 3 years ago / 40k only on the clock and had Wooleys at Hingham (Norfolk) go right through including cambelt / plenum plugs / g/box & filter oil change / pollen filter seal. I shall be devastated when I run out of Mk 1 Superbs (faults and all!)
  12. I've had my present 2007 Superb for 3 trouble-free years - but last week the N/S/F front spring broke and I'm now having a gear box problem. On starting the car all of the gear indicator lights came on and only 1st would engage. I stopped the engine, gears OK but Tiptronic wouldn't work (only 1 time). Since then I have had a few occasions when only 1st would engage, but stopping the engine and restarting has solved the problem. When I had the spring done I had the car VAGCOM'd which came up with 17090 Transmission range sensor (F125) 01119 Gear recognition signal I have been quoted £600+VAT or £2200+VAT for repair if the g/box has to come out by a company (TAS) in Colchester. I haven't seen this problem on the Forum previously - any thoughts welcome - and is the g/box likely to 'die' completely on me? The car has done 75k miles Thanks
  13. Not new to Briskoda, but have changed cars, email address and moved, so have opened as a new account. Kept my first Superb for 7 years and am now 3 years in to my second....................
