  1. I'm puzzled by the following:

side mirrors: left doesn't work, right works intermittently (I know how to work the joystick).

electric windows: work intermittently (is there a method to the madness).

cigarette lighters: neither front (near handbrake) nor rear (in the boot) work (I have child door lock on, is this related?).

Can't help but feel I'm missing some simple things?

    Fuse? Secret handshake? Silly walk?

    Any tips or pointers appreciated.

    Cheers!

  3. Hi folks!

We recently acquired a "one previous owner" 2007 Skoda Roomster Scout (Auto) as our first real family car, we have a little girl who is just starting to walk sp we figured the time was right to get a more practical family car. Prior to the Skoda, we've had a classic (and thus LHD) 2001 Renault Twingo for the past 10 years, and we'll be keeping that as a second car because we love it dearly. Compared to the Twingo, the Roomster is quite hi-tec!

Anyway, the Roomster is generally in pretty good shape. 101K with a few things to look at that fell victim to the previous heavy handed owner. Sunroof blinds, driver side electric window buttons, front passenger headrest (done), armrest lid (done) and some other more general tidying up. I'll do my best to create a guide for each thing I do, just so other people can learn from my experience as I have done from others on the internet.

I've been getting up to speed on the differences in this pre-facelift Roomster and am about to fit an RNS300 using the official Skoda adapter relay 487. After that I'll be looking at coding to enable navigation on the MaxiDOT, if required, and maybe tweak a few other things such as number of flashes on lane changing, beep on lock and so on whilst I'm there.

Anyway, in the last week weeks I've been using the forum I've found it a good place!

    Cheers,

    matt

  4. Where is the recommended place to fit MDI in a 2007 Roomster?

    Armrest?

    One of the two gloveboxes?

In front of the gear stick cup holders?

    Somewhere else?

Or should I look for MDI as loose components rather than in the plastic surround?

    Cheers

  5. Any tips on how to replace the lid? Was missing when I got our car, so I've sourced a replacement.

But I can't quite figure out the easy way to fit it. Seems to require a lot of force?

    Cheers

    edit:

managed to do this, here's how: flip back armrest to vertical position, get in back seat. now slide one leg in and the lid will be angled to one side (which is why you can't do this so easy in the front seat), then you can slide the other leg in, and make sure the little knobs on both legs are correctly seated in their holes. job done.

Did a 200 mile drive yesterday and now the engine shaped warning light under rev dial is on.

Manual says this light is "Control system for exhaust" and that the car will be put into a speed limited mode.

However, the car is not speed limited at all.

No faults shown on the information display (maxidot).

    MFD Vehicle Status says OK.

I cleared the fault via my cheap Wi-Fi OBD2 adapter and it's not come back. 100 miles so far.

    Fingers crossed.

  7. I've bought the Relay with included quadlock cable.

As I've got an Parrot already, I'm really hoping to go for a Columbus with DAB and the OEMplus adapter. If so I'll sell the relay and older setup.

Now to find a friendly local VAG fan with VCDS and newer car. In West Cornwall it seems I might be looking for a while!

Not sure, but even for the RNS300 you will need the smaller CanBus adapter.

Not sure because our second Roomster had the RNS300 (works install) and I updated to the RNS315 (as written above).

Didnt have to put any CanBus adapter in. DAB+, handsfree, routing and maps all worked instantly.

But unfortunately no more arrows in the maxidot and the original remote control doesnt work.

We can live (actually my son has to live) with that.

    Great thanks.

My current plan is to fit the Relay 487 (part 5J0035751) can bus adapter which I have on order right now. Then see how my cheap RNS300 performs. Maybe I'll then go to a Amundsen RNS310 which will work 100%. I couldn't live with maxidot and remote control not working :)

I also saw the OEMplus adapter which they guarantee me will work 100% (even maxi dot and steering controls) with a RNS510 (and I assume RNS315) as long as the radio is coded to DDP in a more modern car before I fit it in my 2007 Roomster. Just waiting to hear back from Rustynuts by PM about that. If he can help I think I'm just going to jump in to Columbus.

I guess I will have to get VCDS coded to add navigation to my MFD regardless?

    cheers

  9. Does anybody have any tips about servicing the panoramic sunroof blinds in a Roomster?

Do I have to take the inside roof down? Is that even possible?

The previous owner was quite heavy hanquit it seems. I'm going through a handful of thseemson the car putting them back together. Literally.

    Problems:

    1. Both blinds have come detached from the side/s

    2. The rear blind won't roll properly. Seems to have been overextended at some point

    Any pointers appreciated.

  11. I'd like to swap the head unit in a Roomster Scout (2007) from a Dance to an RNS.

Possibly Columbus 510. Ideally I'd get navigation and DAB.

Is there anything I need to know?

    What is "coding"?

Will it be compatible with maxidot and all other in-car systems?

I'm new to Skoda, so please don't assume I know what I'm talking about—I don't!

    Cheers,

    matt
