  1. I was on a level road - 1st gear selected - clutch firmly down - could hear the gear trying to engage with the clutch. Could it be that the clutch pedal is out of line or something?
  2. It somestimes does - not everytime - just depends how careful you are with the clutch.
  3. Hi, I am having problem with my gears at the moment. Skoda Fabi 1.4 Y Reg 4 door. Moving from 5th or 5th - down 1 or 2 gears - stick becoming stuck in neutral. Can't get in to any other gear - can almost feel the gear stick movinmg out of position in the gear box. The only way to get back in is to slow right down and try a random gear - usually going in to 2nd or 3rd solves the problem - then you are OK again. This doesnt happen all the time but more recenlt y becomming increasingly frequent. Spoke to DM Keith Skoda Dealer in Leeds - they said that it sounds like a gear selector alignment issue or synchro / synchro mest alignment problem. They said that it doesnt sound like a clutch problem. Can anyone shed any light on this?
  4. Just coming up to 60,000. 2 - 3 Months a go had problems with oil sensor that kept coming on - dealer took it back and fitted a new water pump - obviously not done properly and now caused more problems - crappy garages - annoying!
  5. So .. it continues... Go on journey from Scarborough to Leeds on A64 on Sunday. Go up big hill then get beeps and temp gauge is in red. Stop car - no water! Leave engine to cool down. Fill up with water again, AA turn up do loads of checks including pressure check - find no problem Drive back to Leeds - lift bonnet - no water. Put more water in and check for leaks - find leak between water pump and main engine rack. Take to Skoda dealers (D M Keith in Leeds) - diagnose that new pump and gasket is required - also - altimeter is faulty and hand brake needs tightening. Fun and games, fun and games!
  6. Hi, I am about to go on my summer holidays - doing around about 1000 miles. Any recommendations on any checks to do before and long the journey? Obviously oil, water, tyre pressure, lights. Thanks
  7. Had it in to the garage - no fault found - now what?
  8. Sending in to garage tomorrow for them to check it out. I'll keep this thread updated.
  9. What about the altenator and battery - bother testing them?
  10. Interesting, yes I have had flickering headlights. The stick is movable, no crunching just wont go in to the selected gear. Battery / alternator sounds possible as when I restart engine, I can feel a slight jolt in the stick like something s realigning
  11. Hi, Had some problems with my Y reg Fabia 1.4 classic recently. Power steering can be very heavy when first starting engine. Had some fun on the road the other day when twice, I was changing gears and got stuck in neutral. Came out of 3rd - aiming for 4th and got stuck - couldn't go into any gear at all - thankfully not on the flippin motorway! Can someone help me out - I am under warranty so shouldn't be a problem getting it fixed.
  12. I have had this also, TWICE! FYI: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/oil-sensor-issues/77351/
  13. I took the car in to the garage, they have replaced the oil sensor and the connector to the sensor - all seems to be fine - for now! Thats the second time in 4 months that it has had to be replaced. Must be a common problem on this model of Fabia as I have seen multiple posts on here about the oil sensor.
  14. Driving around town is what we use the car for. There is no emulsification on oil cap. Car is going in on Wednesday to garage where I purchased from. Ill suggest for it to be checked out with oil pressure gauge. If there was too much oil, for instance, would the sensor alert me?
  15. Another problem is that brakes squeak a lot at the moment - is there any way that this could be related?
  16. I am not loosing any oil and surely if the oil pressure was low then this would be sensed upon ignition? Cars are not my field at all - please be gracious of my ignorance!
  17. Hi bought a Fabia Y reg 1.4 54000miles in January 2007. In first month, oil sensor was beeping all the time - took into garage, sensor was replaced - no problem. 1 month later, same thing happens, also notice water loss and emulsification of oil on cap - took in to get sorted. Water pump was replaced after apparently 'spewing out gunk' all over engine. Watched for 1 month, water and oil now fine, but my annoying friend known as the oil sensor begins singing again! Taking back in on Thursday - anything garage could be missing / or that I should be looking out for? Note: the sensor will not come on when engine first starts, only when I begin to rev. Thanks all.
  18. Thanks, worked a treat, sorted in 5 mins. Now need to find a way to get rid of my squeaky brakes!
  19. Hi, When I call for the rear jet to spray on the rear window, I just get a load of water spewing out of the bottom of the car. Front jet works fine. I think that it's a disconnected pipe? Can anyone guide me as to how to reconnect this? Thanks
  20. Hi, Fabia Y Reg 2001 1.4 Petrol Classic 55000 miles Oil Pressure light came on yesterday - now permanently on. Loads of oil in engine - no worries there. Engine is running fine in spite of this. Taken in to garage for them to look at sensors - at my educated guess from the other posts in this forum. Anything else I should look out for? Thanks
  21. Well I took the plunge and bought it. Drove it home and took the good long route - gave it a good testing and seem sto run fine. Still a slight amount of hesitation when idle. Revs fluctuae between 800 - 1000 revs - not sure what this could be - any ideas? I managed to get a 2 year warranty out of the garage so should be ok. They replaced sparks, coil pack, cleaned fuel injectors and replaced air filter - passed MOT first time - no probs with emissions test.
