  1. #19 is apparently the MOAF (Mother Of All Fuses)
  2. @roottoot whether it makes sense or not, is not the point of the topic. Guy wants to precondition and wanted to know what effect departure time setting has vs ad-hoc preconditioning via app.
  3. the usual points of preheating battery are: 1 to reduce consumption (therefore increase range) on short trips in cold weather - like city commute, slow traffic 2 to prepare it for accepting higher charge currents at fastchargers @ManosD get an OBD reader, try yourself and let us know your findings Fact is, when you set a departure time (in cold weather): - ongrid: cabin heating starts ~30min before departure time - offgrid: battery starts heating ~1h before departure time and cabin heating ~30min before Example departure time set for 19:15 OFFGRID ONGRID
  4. pre-ME3 setting departure time in app/infotainment when offgrid heats both battery and interior. If car is ongrid (connected to a charger) it won't heat battery, just interior. This behaviour is confirmed by several users who logged data overnight using OBD.
  5. yeah, i do...sometimes though. It's weird. Works fine for days, then all of a sudden it pauses (but track is not paused) for 6-7-8 seconds..it resumes by itself.

imho Tesla best batteries, motors, performance...but the car built around them not worth the money. much better cars (as a whole) starting to appear, competition is catching up. Gap in range decreasing. Enyaq vs Model Y pretty much both ~300km motorway range, +/- 15-20km. Build/quality worlds apart. No brainer. Supercharger network seen no more as competitive advantage, this is the reason they open it up to others. Might as well earn some revenue from selling electricity while at it. World (a.k.a traditional manufacturers who can really push volumes) has caught up. For me at least, 0-100/0-60 is not that relevant when i look for to build a connection with the car, to make me feel good when i sit behind the wheel and use/touch/feel/see everything around me from that position.
  8. the heat pump makes sense if you drive long distances in winter. For city driving is not really needed. The 2-3kWh/100 you save means you'd charge once a week instead of every 10 days. So a heatpump makes sense if: -you drive at least 50km stretches non-stop -cabin heat set to more than 22-23C -outside temp is between -10C - 0C Even in those cases (ideal conditions for max heatpump efficiency/savings), the gains are around 10-15% realistic in range. Is it worth ~1000EUR? You decide.
  9. Hi, can anyone with parts access pls. look what is needed to retrofit the dashboard ambient lighting strip(s) for the EU Loft model? Wonder if extra cabling/connectors are needed or if they are already there... thx!
  10. why do you buy something before reading all about it? It says big in the description: "5. This unit does NOT support your car's Dynaudio sound system."
  11. map update 2018/2019 for our MIB2 Amundsen here: 12GB ECE1 (all Europe) http://infotainment-cdn.skoda-auto.com/base/maps/STD2_1030_EU1_201819.zip 3GB ECE2 (part of Europe) http://infotainment-cdn.skoda-auto.com/base/maps/STD2_1020_EU2_201819.zip Next update will be in November
  12. warped tyre/rim, bearings will rotate on the dyno, therefore they're still in. there's no other way to stay under the car at 100km/h and carefully listen for resonance induced vibrations first stay in the passenger seat and listen...if you hear it then go below deck and try to locate the source. oh yea, besides the engine buffer parts, check also the air intake hose (right at the front of the bonnet). Some guys said if it gets slightly loose, it may cause strange noises.
  13. what i meant by eliminating is to take it out of the troubleshooting process by NOT being able to test it (or be influenced by it) basically forgetting about it (as well as steering, etc) and just test engine/revs/vibrations/exhaust, etc...
  14. rattles, esp. over speed bumps are a biatch. i had two so far, solved them both: one was the driver door closing mechanism on the B pillar (that "U" latch thing), put some vaseline based lubricant (not silicone or WD40!) and it killed the noise. The other was my sheer stupidity of not folding the rear bench (the 1/3 behind the driver side) properly/fully back into its place
  15. could be that something produces a resonance at a certain vibration/load level. i remember someone reporting something similar and the garage suggested to replace one of the 3 engine support (buffer) parts. There's one left, one right and one kind of low middle. you could take it to a dyno garage, simulate some speed and have someone go below deck and listen for resonance sound while you sit in passenger's seat. they have rev limiter anyway when parked, so you need to go above 2500rpm limit somehow, hence the dyno idea. while on the dyno you eliminate suspension/wheels/steering components anyway so it could be easier to track down if you still hear it.
  16. So, i'm starting this thread to get your input on a certain issue i found with iPhones and MIB2 units. I tried 2 different iPhones (5C and 5) with iOS 10.3.3 (latest update for those models) and both got disconnected/interrupted after random times (anywhere between 10 seconds to 15min) Tried different cables just for the sake of it, tried itunes restore (DFU recovery), tried jailbreaking them, then restored back...made no difference. I'm suspecting 10.3.3 just doesn't like MIB2. So the cables are out of question. Also the phones themselves, since 2 models have the same issue. An iphone 5SE and an iphone 7, both with 11.2.5 worked fine with any of the cables. Now i'm testing a 5S with 10.1.1 and it seems also fine, no disconnects. There is one repro iteration i couldn't test: if a 64bit device (like 5S and above) with 10.3.3 has the same issues. The 5/5C are 32bit and since IOS11 doesn't support 32bit anymore, the good side is that they'll be jailbreak-able forever since they'll never get updates beyond 10.3.3 I'd appreciate your input/experience with Carplay disconnects/issues, but pls post also your iphone model, ios version and MIB2 HW/SW version. Thx
  17. nop, same bulb. i changed both Osram OEM ones last year with some Philips after they replaced the lamp unit. can it be that the xenon glass lens itself is new and therefore "shines" better?
  18. Just to add my feedback for the masses interested in this car I currently drive a Superb 2012 4x4 DSG, so i'll compare it to this (i'm sure many of you have the MK2 and can relate to this comparison) The Karoq driven was FWD 1.5 TSI DSG, Style i think. - Seats and driving position are good, better than i expected - Electric steering feels much better than the Superb one (but that's where the plus-es relative to the MK2 end ) - The throttle is VERY sensitive, meaning just tapping it slightly launches the car forward. - Suspension is decent, on the soft side which i like, but not quite as smooth as the Superb (duhh) - Given that it was a bit wet on the road, the lack of 4x4 was very obvious. Not just when driving from standstill, but also overall "sticky-ness to the road" was lacking. I will never drive anything else than 4x4, it has too many advantages, even when it's not snow on the road. Overall grip, the way the back of the car "aligns" with the front and general feel is supreme. - For city driving the DSG7 is very good, although the stop&go engine feature can get annoying sometimes (and its constant info popping up on the Columbus) - It had no "brake hold" (i have it on my Mercedes GLA), meaning you fully press the brake at a traffic light and it activates hold. When you tap the gas, it deactivates. Meaning no lurching forward if you don't keep the brake pressed. Very nice in practice, but not sure if an option on Karoq (or Skoda at all?) - On the motorway, it is a bit noisier than the Superb and does feel a bit "wobbly" and "lightweight" (lack of 4x4 and less weight i suppose) - Engine noise on kickdown is very audible and lacks somehow the power you expect from such noise - Little annoyances: no LED strips on the back doors (wtf, makes no sense). Ventilation knobs are not lit, therefore you have to blindly go fully left/right to find "limits" in order to set to whatever position you want. - Altough the 10 LED colors are nice, they also affect the color MFD and Columbus background theme, some of which look a bit off. Example: blue LED light is very nice, but blue theme on the huge columbus looks off. - For my driving position at least, i had to reach a bit forward to the Columbus to touch stuff, it is not quite at arm's length reach, if you know what i mean. Can get annoying. - PLEASE KILL those cheesy looking "SKODA" projections when you open the doors !!!!! If i'd had the car, i would have put tape over the damn thing! - I am not a fan of "cold light", therefore the LED footwell lights i didn't like. Why not make them RGB like the dashboard LED ones? I love my warm yellow ones from the Superb! - The front storage box is quite small, and hits your knees when opened fully (as a passenger). - The Columbus: very nice screen, excellent interface, but sometimes i miss a constant "back" button instead of having to go to "Home" and then back to wherever i was. Small interface annoyment. - Lack of buttons makes it harder for the passenger to operate volume for example, has to reach way forward and to the left to get to the +/- touch buttons. - Boot space is quite decent, obviously less than the Superb. - Nice, solid "thud" when closing the doors. I like. - Doors (at least the front ones) look and feel quite large, esp. when opened and you look at it. Glass area could have been a bit larger (or the material area below them smaller, whichever). Let's just say, there's a lot of door - Controls for windows, etc, on the left armrest are not quite in reach. You have to move your arm "backwards" a bit to open the window. - The LED front lights are not adaptive, meaning not following the curve, or different driving modes (like AFS on the Superb). Only the LED fog lights light up when turning left/right, which improve the light area slightly. - The driving modes (sport, eco, normal) do feel different Harder steering, faster throttle response and possibly harder suspension (i felt something different) in sport mode. Well, these are my personal objective impressions, obviously based on a direct comparison with the Superb MK2. Overall good car, i will test drive the 4x4 DSG 150CP in a couple of weeks and add comments later on to this thread. One more thing: if i was there to buy a car, i would have gotten a Superb 3 190CP 4x4 DSG. It was just next to it, for 3000 EUR less Not boasting, or anything, but i'm surprised how my 5yr old MK2 still feels like an overall better car than this. Refinement, comfort, space. Still a darn good highway cruiser. Only thing is missing is a 7th gear
  19. It is offered all right, but not as standard and not at launch and not everywhere The official configurator does not have it as option and that is for a reason. Nevertheless, it is borderline false advertisement, i'm sure they analysed to the letter the statements from a legal perspective in order not to be liable for anything. It's just setting wrong expectations towards customers. My dealer(s) told me 9 out of 10 people asking about the Karoq wanted to see the digital cluster and that's the reason this was one of the top3 questions they took with them to the official product training. The answer, well...i stated above.
  20. speaking of AFS xenons...i have a strange effect when driving in "city mode" up to 50km/h, that the left side is way more illuminated than the right. I notice this much more since the service replaced the left lights after the glass/plastic got cracked. Don't know what they changed exactly (whole light block? only the plastic casing? are the xenon lenses still the old ones?) I mean the effect is crazy visible. They say the lights are properly calibrated. I know this is how AFS behaves (moves only left light outward up to 50km/h), but why am i seeing all of a sudden much more difference than before? When i stop behind a car at a traffic light, i see the left beam coming back into place (moving right). AFS "dance" when starting the car works fine, no issues.
  21. oh yea, fully offtopic, but the first ever full electric Skoda will be an Octavia-sorts, by 2020
  22. Official info from my dealer is that during initial product training it was stated by Skoda officials: due to massive shortage from the chinese producer, there will be only 1000 units available from June, 700 of them going to czech/slovakia and the rest to germany. they don’t expect full availability this year for rest of europe
