Does this mean you used VCDS or OBDeleven to program out stop/start?

In that case you may have brought these issues on yourself as afaik the method people use to disable is to manipulate the reported battery voltage or voltage thresholds. Other unintended consequences could follow?

If it was an OBDeleven app job then anything is possible by all accounts.

Were you charged for the new battery?

Thanks xman for your reply the coding out of the stop start system was actually coded out as a favour at a VAG dealership by the mastertech who is actually my Son when I went to visit my family in Stoke on Trent some time ago, so doubt its that causing issues. Another thing to point out these issues were there before I had the stop start coded out.

The brake manoeuvre I believe is something to do with park assist which my car does not have LOL.

If its not sorted soon I will have some time of work and book it in the dealership where my son works (Audi) but he can have it go next door in the Skoda workshop.

If the battery was goosed you can get random electrical issues shown in your first post - the fact your stop start never worked may also be a clue - I've seen batteries fail at less than a year or last over 15 years (my previous 2003 Superb 1.9pd is still on it's original).

Some battery tests are rather primative.

Thanks for the reply Freedom the other issues are ongoing from when the car was 6 months old and only just before this weekend really had problems starting, The battery tester was far from primitive the AA used all modern gear.

  3. AA came out on behalf of Skoda assist, He tested the battery which came back good, checked various connections, then said it does sound a little like the engine had digested some foreign body, he then proceeded to remove glow plugs from cyl 1 and 3 and found no issues. He then said it would have to be taken on a tow truck to the dealer for further investigation. He suggested before he arranged this he would like to try a new battery even though it tested good and didnt think that was the issue. Luckily he had an AGM battery onboard fitted it and bugger me it started??

The guy never coded the battery but replaced it with a 70Ah Varta silver Agm and told me to get it to the dealer for a check over especially with the other issues im having. Im not sure whether to get them to code the battery or not.

Little premature for the battery to fail imo especially as the cars just over 13months old, not around 2yrs old which id suspect a battery issue and I dont use stop start (never worked anyway) but programmed out, ligts on manual control and no take me home lights programmed on.

  4. Hi all not had chance to get on here for a while due to health issues in the family. Along with a lot of car related issues which I will share now.

    1. Rear brake manoeuvre malfunction: this shows up on SID randomly, but especially when you first start the car.

    2. ACC unavailable:  shows up on SID randomly, but especially when you first start the car.

    3. Auto hold unavailable:  shows up on SID randomly, but especially when you first start the car.

    4. Brake won't release: This happens when you pull off at random times, but you can guarantee it will happen at a roundabout or when you need to get away.

Took it to the dealers several times they cant find a fault and Skoda UK unaware of any issues, Dealer says dont worry its safe to drive. I say maybe but it isn't right fix it!! I have escalated this with the relevant people.

Over the weekend it has become difficult to start "similar symptom of faulty glow plugs, or IMMO issue" Well today it wont start at all just  turning over!!

Just waiting for Skoda assist to take it away hopefully to the nearest junk yard!!

Mrs say why dont I take a look with being in the trade, my answer no why should I, the cars just over a year old purchased new by myself with issues since 6months old.

I think it a Friday afternoon or Monday built car lol.

    Any one else with issues.

  6. Had this email from dealer whilst away for a week, offering a free spare wheel instead of the inflation kit as standard. Although this does not interest me it may help others getting a free spare wheel if they wish instead of the standard inflation kit from their dealers

Sorry if this has already being covered elsewhere on forum.

    Good evening Mr ???

Instead of a spare tyre, your vehicle is supplied with an emergency puncture repair kit that requires you to spray glue into the punctured tyre. However, this temporary repair method is only suitable for punctures that are less than 4mm wide, and the adhesive also has a sell by date.

The reason that this subject has been picked up by the press has been due to a number of drivers who have been left stranded after having had a puncture, the puncture repair kit not being suitable and therefore needing to use their recovery service to get them home.

Since the press coverage we have received many calls and letters from our customers asking if it is possible to purchase a spare tyre as an option. We have looked into this and I am pleased to say that a kit is available from
Sinclair ŠKODA Swansea – we will fit it FREE and carry out a complimentary FREE visual health check for you whilst doing this — call now to book.

    Yours sincerely

  7. Had mine for bout a month now and love it especially after saying id never own a Skoda I can even say its the best car ive had for a long time., Just got back from a 300+ mile trip and the car was effortless mixed driving 59.2 mpg :)

my advise take a good look round even if means travelling a bit further than normal, although a higher millage car is not necessary a bad car IMO

It should show them automatically... when they are available, which is not all the time.

I only ask for ‘a drink’ for coding.

worth more than a drink my friend imo...... I will try and get down to Kent for a weekend before end of year, I did you for a static to hire in August for a week but £700 for a week in this summer we are having was a no go lol

should the hatch close of the remote?

    Thanks Gizmo

Thanks.  I might be cheeky and ask.

So the TSR uses the same camera as the lane assist etc?   That's very interesting, wish I knew that!   So you could theoretically have lane assist, traffic jam assist and high beam assist just by paying the £85 for TSR?

Edit: Plus of course whatever the kind VCDS modder would like for their time :P

How much would you charge to enable these Gizmo ? (+ anything else you feel may be useful at the time)

Quick question on TSR, I am only seeing one speed sign on both maxi dot and head unit and never seeing 2 at the same time ? is this also VCDS or should it do it automatically ?

I contacted Mikvon via e-bay and they say they are willing to produce a screen protector but require exact dimensions and a good quality photo of the display. As my car hasn't been delivered yet I'm unable to provide this at the moment.

Is there anyone here that could assist with this and then we can get some produced.

    This is their reply:

"I would like to offer to you, that we give this case to our engineering department to create suitable films for you, free of charge.

For this we need the exact measurements in mm.
How long and wide should be the film? (mm X mm) ->the film itself, not the just the display
What is the exact name of your device? ->have you got good quality pictures of the device?"

I will give it a go and see what measurements I can get, I might see if a can also get a paper rub with a crayon or something as a template

I suppose depending on what you do in the car a shoe heel or similar might scratch it but only you can decide if that's likely.

I find to prevent a shoe heel scratching the screen it's best to tuck the feet into the rear grab handles .

I find dropping the rear seats gives you a better position when doing Karma Sutra :-))

On a serious note my daughter has Autism and on occasions during a melt down, items can sometimes be launched to the front of the car !!

    Can anyone add more ?

Revenue lost from all types motor sport events, classic car shows etc

The extinction of the ice cream van  as he can no longer power his refrigeration all day with the fear of not enough battery life to get him home  :crying:

This list can go on and on and on, surely before this comes in force someone will actually think before they speak and realize somebody acted on impulse what may have been a good idea at that moment and not viable in the big wide world we live in.

Can just imagine it a Yamaha R1 powered by Duracell that heavy it would become in practical to use !

The most amazing thing is how clean she still looks. I’ve not had chance to even wash the car in three weeks, it’s been used daily, I’ve done a lot of miles and we’ve had some awful weather (luckily not in Trearddur Bay)… Don’t get me wrong, she won’t pass close inspection but I’m seriously impressed by how well this colour hides the dirt.!

Is that the Quartz grey ? I pick mine up Monday and looks like I made a wise choice of colour :) as was tempted to go petrol blue but in the flesh looked similar to my Saab TTid and fancied a change

    BTW looks amazing :)

  14. ive heard this before and by the time 2039 comes along the goal posts will be moved again no doubt, something ive learnt in my 50yrs of life is not to believe everything you here, and if im still around by then please tell me I wrong that is of course if I am wrong!

Well there is one way to look at it, there would be no more vehicles bursting into flames from fuel, just batteries exploding and spewing toxic / acid every before bursting into flames!

Unless all electric vehicles by then were powered by Lithium Ion witch contain little toxic materials of course, but still have the potential to explode

Today, in my Superb, I pulled to the curb to let a passenger out. I cut across the front of a parked car (leaving plenty of room, I thought) and the rear, just ahead of the rear wheel arch, clipped the front bumper of the 1996 Merc. The most damage was caused by the tyre and wheel, as they scrapped by the bumper of the Merc, ultimately bringing it off

Regardless how good of a driver we are or think we are, even the best of us can get caught off guard or make a slight error of misjudgement. It can happen to anyone of us at any time even those that drive for a living, but this does not make you any less of a driver!

I wish everyone had the conscious to leave a note as you did :)

ive just had my whole front garden dug out and tarmacked to make a humongous drive to park the S3 in when I pick it up Monday!:o

  16. what is the difference between HEX+CAN, HEX-NET and HEX-V2 unlimited VIN versions?

Are they all capable of doing the same and allow the latest software to be downloaded, and if I bought a used one with unlimited VINS would I still have to obtain a new license at £X for Future downloads or help (I believe this is the case) which not makes a used one such a good buy all the time.

Am I correct the HEX-CAN is a older version.

    Thanks
