  1. Btw there is an earth wire with no connector in the kit, there is a threaded bolt under a rubber cover on the back of the head unit the earth wire can be attached to it with a small nut & washer.
  2. I fitted one of these connects2 kits to a fabia mk1 symphony cd head unit last week. Probably already answered but you have the wrong one. Mine just plugged straight in & worked straight off, it has a 3.5mm Jack which goes into the headphone socket.
  3. New & unused storage box for Mk1 Fabia, fits under passenger seat with two bolts (included). £25 posted.
  4. New item, this will only fit a hatchback (I have an estate, so like an idiot bought the wrong one), purchased to replace my mouldy ones due to leaking seals!!! Looking for £25 plus postage or collection from Kings Norton area of South Birmingham, 10 mins from J2 of M42.
  5. OK, issue solved - she's been holding it on the clutch again in stop/start traffic & fried it! The dust is burned off friction material. She went through two clutches on the previous fabia, the last one lasted about 18 months & the friction disc had literally come apart. Told her to drive the thing properly from now on, or sort her own problems out in future. Bloody women drivers!

I want a fixed towbar for my 2004 Fabia Estate, I've found this (see link below) but upon contacting the dealer they reckon this is a "towbar service kit" & wouldn't be a complete towbar at this price (£92+VAT). Does anyone know whether in fact this is a complete towbar assembly/electrics that will fit my car, not just some kind of service/fitting kit as my dealer suggests...?   7. OK, had a look under the battery cover, the fuses & wiring (as far as I can trace back) look OK, no sign of damage to the coil packs. However, the smell is strongest where the main wiring loom comes up into the battery compartment. Am I right in thinking the starter motor & possibly alternator are buried down here somewhere, & this could be a sign that one of them is on the way out? I think I'll have to drop this down to a dealer for them to look at TBH, seems not worth the risk of just ignoring!
  8. Good call, I'll have a look later. The smell is definately stronger in the area of the battery (in fact, a "sniff test" confirmed the stongest smell was the plastic air filter pipe that seems to have some kind of dust deposited on it). I'll update the thread if I find anything.
  9. We have a 2005 Fabia 1.2HTP, was serviced by a dealer couple of weeks ago (nothing major, though did have new rear brakes) & this has now developed a burning smell from the engine compartment. You can smell it slightly inside the car, but more so outside, particularly through the front grille & edge of the bonnet. I've had a look around the engine compartment & nothing seems amiss, the car runs fine & everything works. The smell is a like burning rubber/plastic, its a little accrid. Now I did think it might just be some "pre-ice" spray that we've used to stop the windscreen icing up overnight, but now I'm not so sure. The plastic hose to the air filter seems to smell of it the strongest, it has a coating of like dust on it which may be what the smell is. Any ideas?
  10. I have a 54 plate fabia estate & the same "problem". I have been advised it it the ABS kicking in, even though I don't drive fast or brake in a hurry.
  11. In the last 6 months, missus car has started to drip engine oil on my nice block paved drive, more so since had an oil change & service recently (I'm guessing new oil is thinner...?). It appears contstantly "wet" around the rocker cover (underneath the engine cover). Assuming this is the source, how much dismantling would it take to remove this & fit a new gasket? What other bits would I need to remove, is this going to turn into a major job? Thanks.
  12. I doubt it, lady driver! I think the clutch plate just failed, period. Garage are going to send it back to sachs, but reckon they'll refute any claim. TBH, it is just as well the garage (Nationwide) give a 2 yr warranty on clutches as standard, or they could have just turned round & argued wear & tear. As it stands, they fitted a new one completely free of charge, so fair enough. Wonder if a Skoda dealer would have done the same...
  13. Our 2001 Fabia 1.4 had a new sachs clutch about 12 months ago, & has done average miles since. Yesterday, the clutch pedal went to the floor with a jolt & we couldn't get any gears. It went back to the garage who fitted the clutch in the first place (on the back of a tow truck) who suspected a burst seal on the clutch slave cylinder, so a gearbox out & new clutch again job. But on inspection the friction material which is riveted on was shredded to pieces for about 2/3 of the way round. The only clue is about 3 weeks ago the pedal went to the floor but I just pulled it back up with my foot & it was OK since. Garage replaced the clutch under warranty, but say there is no obvious fault or reason for the failure. Any ideas what could have caused this? Foreign object would be my suspicion, but garage say nothing found, no witness marks on flywheel, etc. They also do not believe the clutch plate was faulty.
  14. 2004 Fabia Estate 1.2HTP. Now done 40,000 miles. Is this a straightforward filters/oil/plugs job I can get done at any local servicing place, or does this need cambelt? Thanks.
  15. Thanks. I'll recheck, but think it is probably ABS as brakes are perfectly OK under normal (ie. driving like an old fart) conditions.
