  1. Our 2013 Citigo Elegance 75PS 5 door manual is my runabout, but in 18 months ownership I've only done 2,500 miles. It's zero VED, but in its one service, MOT (Passed) and cam belt/waterpump change it's cost £830 plus insurance at £450 for two years, that's 51p a mile without the cost of fuel (averaging 50mpg) or depreciation. If I did more miles it would be worth keeping but really she has to go. A shame because it's a lovely little car in virtually as new condition. When I drive it the performance and handling reminds me of my 1964 1071cc Cooper S 267WYC that I last saw sometime in 1974. The 2018 Karoq SE L 1.5 DSG is our main car and also tows our 1250kg ish caravan. It's a lovely car but I'm not happy with its pulling away capability when towing. It's not bad but could be better, more torque is needed. And I hanker back to our 1.2 SE Drive Yeti DSG which we ran 2017 t0 2020, not for towing but for its character. So I've been looking out for a 2017 Yeti 2 litre DSG. Last weekend I thought I'd found one not that far away. High miles (88K) but with fitted towbar and reversing camera, my ideal spec. Things were going fine, the dealer supplied the car's service history, DSG services to the book, The first Haldex service had been missed and done a bit earlier than the second was due and the garage agreed to do another before handover. I didn't reserve the car, but told the dealership I would visit to view the next day. An hour after emailing that, I got a response saying the car was sold. Gutted. So is my plan sensible? To sell the Citigo and keep looking for a 2017 2 litre 150PS DSG Yeti or are there alternatives?
  2. I noticed quite a loud noise the other day, just after starting the car and it disappeared when I floored the clutch pedal. The car had just had a new cambelt so I was concerned that something was amiss. I went back to the dealership (10 miles) and by the time I got there the noise had almost disappeared. The tech who'd done the cambelt and the service manager checked out the car and said the level of noise they were hearing was normal for a Citigo. To prove it they got the keys of two 18 plate Citigo's that were on the forecourt and truth be told the sound was identical to mine as it was when warmed up. Of course the only way for them to hear it when it's cold is to leave the car with them overnight. Now it could be that the car has always made the noise when cold but I normally drive straight off somewhere and rarely idle the car straight after starting. Also, because you have to floor the clutch to start the car, you won't hear the noise unless you then release the clutch pedal. So the noise might have been there ever since I got the car but I've not ever let the clutch up before moving off.
  3. I've got a similar noise on my 13 plate Elegance. The local dealer are replacing both rear dampers under warranty.
  4. I'll give that a try Wardy,. Does that mute everything the satnav too or just the radio/media? I don't mind having the radio/media running at the same time as the satnav it's just that sometimes I might like to turn the radio/media off and have silence/conversation with just the satnav operating. It seems to be simple to turn those functions on when the satnav is running, you just select them. However you can't select them again to turn them off. All you can do is either turn off everything, including the satnav, or mute the radio/ media, which isn't actually turning them off. On a friend's Audi you can actually turn off each individual function depending on which is visible on screen at the time. It's just a matter of learning a different mode of operation.
  5. Thanks FF, the unit muted the Radio/Media sound automatically when the Satnav runs a voice command and I've found the settings where you can vary the muting level etc. That's not really my issue though. I was thinking about when you're driving along with the Radio (or Media) operating alongside the Satnav. At some point you decide you don't want to listen to the Radio/Media any more but switching off at the on/off/volume button closes down the unit completely and you no longer have use of the Satnav, which you might like to continue with. Thanks to this excellent forum I think I've realised the answer. At last some might say. If I turn the sound down to mute via the volume control, the Satnav voice still operates at it's normal volume. I tried it out again on the way to B&Q again this morning and it worked ok. Thanskoda to all
  6. Is TomTom a US company, whenever I've had dealings it's been somewhere in The Netherlands. Maybe that's just the European Centre.
  7. At one time I had John Cleese voicing our TomTom or as alternatives, Darth Vader or Yoda.
  8. Thanks, I'll give that a try, though it doesn't sound like it's an intuitive thing that can be safely done whilst driving. I s'pose there's nothing that can be done about the overly polite Satnav voice command. Nearly every instruction is a request as it's preceded by 'please'. I'm used to TomTom where route instructions are just that without the unnecessary 'please'. I'm all for politeness and like to see 'please' on things like ATM and payment card unit screen messages but the SE Drive infotainment Satnav guy annoys me and lengthens messages when it's really not necessary.
  9. It was a trial, I wasn't relying on it for directions as I knew my way. Obviously with Media and Satnav running, but nothing playing on Media the Satnav sound can be controlled by the volume knob. But if I have the Satnav AND Radio running, with the Satnav screen visible and then decide I don't want the Radio anymore I can turn the sound down and the Radio sound disappears, leaving the Satnav screen but the Satnav voice disappears too. It seems the only way, once you've started the Radio and Satnav together is to switch to Media with nothing playing. Then switch to Satnav and you'll get the Satnav screen and voice only.
  10. I only drove the 4 miles to the nearest B&Q today, but I set the Satnav for the centre of Crewe. I turned the volume down to nil and had nothing playing on Media and could faintly hear that there were some Satnav directions being voiced but way too low to make out. I presume they would have increased in volume if I'd turned the volume up. When I arrived at B&Q I switched over to Radio and the volume was off on that too. So I still haven't had definitive proof that the Satnav voice directions remain loud even though the radio has had the volume turned right down. That's for tomorrow.
  11. I didn't realise that you'd been in my car when Mrs SDA was there too Rod. How the devil are you?
  12. I'm one month into owning my new Yeti and am puzzled by the infotainment system. If you have the radio or media system running plus the satnav going, how do you switch off the radio or music without losing the satnav? In other words how can you run on satnav only with no sound from radio or media? If you hit the on/off button it turns everything off and if you turn the volume down to zero you lose the verbal satnav guidance. Is there a way of resolving this? I've searched the handbook and found no mention. The supplying dealer said to turn the volume down, but then you lose satnav sound as well. Surely Skoda wouldn't install a unit with such a basic design issue?
  13. I'm one month into owning my new Yeti and loving it. I swore off VAG products way back in 2002 when the Warranty Dep't refused to cover the cost of new brake disks on a 99T Octavia Estate that was still in warranty and their launch free 3 year serving deal, especially when they paid for new brake pads at the same time. So I've not considered anything from VAG in the intervening 15 years. The Yeti overcame my prejudices and, so far, I'm pleased it did.
