  1. Has anybody used fixter before? Comes with 12month warranty and it states only manufacturer replacement parts. Hmmm.
  2. Cheers for posting, I think the stage for a cleaner fixing my problem has passed haha. 😞
  3. Which part are you referring too? I've found the OEM egr for 400, 140 for the Hella egr.
  4. Skodas quote was 1.5k for parts and labour. Lol
  5. Ahh right cheers for sharing that! I'm going to get a few quotes I'll post them back here just in case there useful for people I'm half tempted to just trade it in for scrap and get a octy vrs. I've always wanted one.
  6. Yeah I think your right on the pierburg. Cheers for those kind words and your experience. It's been ok but last week it's just constant now, glow light always on and coughing. It'll need to be properly diagnosed tbh. When you say the flap, you mean the actually component inside the sealed EGR unit. EGR flap itself or is this a different component? Cheers
  7. My god my poor bank account lol. Just had the water and cambelt done aswell.
  8. Had my first quote of 800 ( Dynes motors). But I was wondering does anyone know which erg valve is decent to fit? EGR and cooler. The stock Skoda one is 500. Hella is in sale for 160. 45% off. Pierburg is 260. Skoda car parts (EU). (400 euro car parts) This is me looking around with vat. Anyone have any experience with the different types or what the garage would use? Cheers, Matt.
  9. I just got my Skoda Fabia MK2 quote that was 800 from Dynes motors, gonna call around first want warranty on the work.
  10. yeah I think the lockdowns killed her tbh. Anyone looking for a new car? 🤣
  11. Best of luck with everything mate. I had the chance to part exchange it about 3 years ago, Kicking myself haha.
  12. Yeah I noticed that when looking at the diagrams of the engine lol :(. A year after I got the car I found all the EGR issues injectors etc, since then I've tired to avoid it as happening as much as I could, oh well. Is it just a coincidence that this happened after the cambelt and water pump change? Cheers.
  13. So it's pointless replacing the EGR valve without replacing the dpf aswell? And out of curiosity whats your preferred way to get to it, do you go underneath or above?
  14. Cheers guys, I'll try the spray and report back for anyone who finds this. I'll get a quote from the garage. But tbh I'll probably just skip and get a new car. Always wanted an octy vrs.
  15. Deep down I know that about the cleaner 😞 but if I need to fork out 700+ then 25 quid on a spray can is worth a punt I thought haha. I was looking at these also, I was more worried about the exhaust gas running very hot I'm not sure of the affects on the engine. Cheers.
  16. Hey there, what happened with your car in the end? Just started getting problems with mine :(, although it's at 107k, without the fix.
  17. Hey guys, Had my Skoda fabia Monte Carlo 1.6tdi for about 8 years now, 107k miles, she's been great. I remember reading about the EGR issues and I'm finally here. 😞 After a new cambelt and water pump I'm getting a warning light, I used my reader and it was giving me a error code of 7462. Which seems to be related to the EGR. The error comes up randomly. I can drive happily for 10 mins, or even 2 hours with no errors, but then occasionally it goes into limp mode. I restart the engine and it's fine again. After researching the forum it seems like this is very common and some people have recommended a dpf cleaner, I was thinking of trying liquid Moly's dpf cleaner, any good? I've got my logs from vagdpf, and the ash content is high. The car was fine before the cambelt and water pump so I was wondering if there was something the garage could have done to check first? Cheers any tips I've missed would be handy. Thank you.
  18. Hey guys, Had this fixed now, the gear linkage was just seized up had it realigned and greased, he said gearbox might be abit ropey so could be a future thing, But feels brand new now. Cost £80 if any one is interested.
  19. Thanks for that, looking at that part it's almost built to fail. The wd40s not a bad shout tbf but I'm worried that oil could just attract some more dirt into it in the long run, I think it's the alu casing that's got gunk / corrosion so needs to be smoothed where the plastic rod slides in, but this is just me guessing, I'm sure itll be the whole gearbox that's broken knowing my luck lol. Cheers.
  20. If I had the tools I'd have a crack, that's the downside too living in a 1 bed flat no storage space and awkward place to work. Do you know the name of it, I'm guessing it's called the gear linkage? seems like a common problem. because of lockdown shes been sitting there and I think it's just corroded and needs a clean, lots of parts that where fine 6 months ago seem much more rusty.
  21. Hey guys, Had some issue with my gearbox recently sticking and not bouncing back too neutral. Ive done some digging online and I think it's this bad boy but I'm not 100% sure anyone know the name of it, I cant seem to get much google hits on this at all. https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/34d711202-transmission-fuse-skoda-18974.html Anyone know if this is a costly job looks like a nightmare to get too. I'm hoping this part replacement and transmission oil top up will sort it. If anyone has any possible ideas/ solutions? Thanks guys. **added youtube link.
