According to a lot of reports on here if you bought a 1.5tsi your forum name would be a perfect match for the car 😉

1.4 ACT 150 bhp. Belt or chain?
Boxerdog1 replied to gord's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Wife has a Blue GT and it is definitely belt driven , change interval is 5 years or a range of 40/60000 miles depending on which VW bullitin you read. In fact in one of the more recent VW website recommendations it appears that mileage has been dropped and change is 'age only' , a 4 year interval advised on pre 2009 cars and 5 years on post 2009 cars. We had ours done at 5 years on about 21000 miles. -
Here's the one I sold last month now replaced by the S2000 ....
-
Been 'fettling' underneath this week ...was already very solid and only some surface corrosion present on suspension arms and fixings etc. Arches and sills are virtually mint for a 19 year old car . With intention of keeping it that way , copious amounts of Dinitrol products are in process of being consumed ...... Bottom rear before and after OSR wheelarch before and after

Strangely enough I recently sold a fairly mint MX5 Mk1 ... ran out of things to do to it ! Sold via Car and Classic , buyer bought 'unseen' from pics / description and history file. Obtained £8500 which included a few spares inc. a spare set of the rare OE OZ alloys. The S2000 stands me at £3k more so far which includes a full paint correction and detail plus 4 new Rainsport 3 tyres to replace the Bridgestones , which although looked perfect with over 6mm left ... were 10 years old !! The Honda just seems so much more car in all respects and something I'd feel safe in on Motorways unlike the Mk1 Mazda , which although a fantastic well balanced little sportscar , felt a bit flimsy by comparison . And then of course ... there's the engine 😉

Colour is 'New Formula Red' . I think it's very similar or possibly the same as 'Milano Red' as there is confusion on various forums about this. Yes agree wheels are a bit plain but have decided to keep this one totally original (ftb !)

Just acquired an early model (AP1) S2000 , only 43000 and full history. In process of giving it a full shakedown and tidying up the bottom end , nothing structural but a lot of surface stuff due to the lack of protection these cars have from the factory. Always fancied one and not disappointed so far - performance is fantastic for a normally aspirated 4 pot two litre motor and the last 3000 rpm up to 9000 has to be experienced when the Vtec kicks in. Not a lot of these around , certainly down here in Cornwall.

High mileage issues on a VRS 184
Boxerdog1 replied to Boxerdog1's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Within the very comprehensive list of routine servicing and additional work there is recorded an 'off car' DPF Clean and Pressure Sensor Replacement plus a Cambelt and Waterpump replacement all at beginning of this year at 140,000 miles so I guess that takes care of that issue . Invoices etc are held. -

First time posting in the Octavia section ! Currently selling a year old 280ps Superb Estate ( also listed on forum) and have added p/ex considered in the ad as although I'm ultimately buying a VW T6 camper , I will still need something cheaper to use for around 6 months pending acquisition / conversion of said vehicle. The p/ex would ultimately be retained in the immediate family . Anyway , onto the reason for posting here . I have been offered a 65 plate VRS diesel estate 184 , in moon white with some nice extras like Adaptive Cruise but it has done 156,000 miles in under 4 years , albeit with full Skoda service history, All motorway work and apparently running sweetly ! I've seen evidence of the history and images of the car and have to say it looks immaculate . Price wise within the overall deal it will stand me at around £7k although there may still be some movement . The question is , how much more life is left in the major mechanical parts and in this respect I wonder if anyone here has had experience of running such a high mileage pre facelift Mk3 184 diesel and what their experiences are ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated .

Superb 280 Front shock light misting - Warranty?
Boxerdog1 replied to freeglide's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Light misting = a very slight leak ? And with DCC if it expands into a bigger leak and MOT failure .... a very expensive problem. So I would certainly be getting it checked out before warranty expires . -
Looking for a 2.0 tfsi manual. Do they exist?
Boxerdog1 replied to Captain Vimes's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
And dare I say .... the 4WD 280ps version will definitely give you what you want -
And the efficiency of Multi point injection Nick ..... and of course the extra weight of the GPF . It's a no brainer really

It would appear we are getting a dog- 280 Hatch
Boxerdog1 replied to Leccy's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Get a travel crate , loads of variations on market and should fit in car easily given size you will need for a cocker spaniel ....... and he/she will probably relax and fall asleep quickly if you are achieving 36mpg in a 280 -
Yes only missing the bits you mention and I share the same view on their 'usefulness' ... plus extra spec of the Pan Roof / Canton / Rear Camera / Dash Cams etc . No DCC though but I believe the jury is out on how much it adds to the adventure . And being a 280 it has the multipoint injection / 'exhaust flaps' and no possibility of future GPF issues ? !! Sounding like a car sales 'person' now (I was in the early 70's selling Escort's Capri's and Cortina's ... Happy Days !) ...... I love the car but as the previous post says , it's not what I need really especially given the recent serious health reality check . So if you need more info and are interested Colin . give me a call on 07920 262103 .

Just turned 4000 miles and has a 2 year service plan with first service completed at Skoda Main Dealer 30/8/19 . Supplied by Sinclair Swansea December 2018 , pre registered with 800 miles. Extras include Electric Panoramic Roof and Sunblind / Canton Sound System / Spare Wheel / Variable Boot Floor / Heated Front Seats / Rear Camera / The larger 9.2 inch screen with Columbus and integrated Wifi . So effectively a Sportline Plus Spec with exception of the electric boot lift and blind spot monitoring, but with Pan Roof / Canton added . Also has a professionally installed Viofo dual dash cam system fitted . Is one of the last batch of 280's still with Multi point injection and Exhaust Flaps but without GPF . Now looking to acquire a VW T6 Camper so if anyone out there has one and want's a p/ex with cash your way ... .... . Any queries etc just give me a call (Jim) on 07920 262103 and thanks for looking. Current JH15 plate will be replaced by original CV68JZM plate if / when sold. SOLD AND T6 California Ocean on way !!

Rear brake disc corrosion uneven wear

On the plus side the disc hubs seem to have stayed remarkably corrosion free !! -
How to handle/live with dragon green?
Boxerdog1 replied to ColinD's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
39 mpg is probably achievable in a 50mph zone over 20 miles on ACC Colin ... I tend to get 28ish overall down here in Cornwall / 22ish in a 'hooning' mode and best was about 36 on the 250 odd mile trip back from Swansea to Cornwall when I bought it ...mind you I only do about 4/5000 miles pa so not a big issue . -
How to handle/live with dragon green?
Boxerdog1 replied to ColinD's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
Thanks for that Colin ... was a bit concerned for a moment as I thought the wet 6 was pretty bombproof at least to stage 1 I managed to acquire one of the last 6 speed 280's which had the larger columbus system with wifi , heated front seats , F/R sensors Canton , Pan Roof , Rear Camera , spare wheel and a couple of other extras last December , 4 months old / 800 miles at £28k . Plain old Moon White though !! Amazing car and highly recommended , in fact so good this is my second one ...... -

Just wondering if you are aware of something I'm not Colin ... are you saying that the wet 6 speed is less reliable than the wet 7 speed ? -

Moon White for me , sets of the Gloss Black Trim and Anthracite Vegas to perfection -
Given your general criticism of all things Skoda across recent posts perhaps you should really consider changing brands in due course to save yourself any more stress ........

Lot of negative comment on the bigger wheels so to balance things up .... I absolutely love the handling and ride quality on the 19 inch Vegas fitted to my 280 .

Superb 280 Service Schedule
Boxerdog1 replied to Woodside99's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
I'm in the same boat regarding confusion on servicing ... even more so after discussing it with local dealer ! My 280 is due it's first service 1/9/19 and will only be c. 3500 miles at that time. I was considering buying a 2 year plan (the one for cars under a year old) which provides an oil service and an interim service for a total of £342 . These are available on the fixed price servicing list at £119 and £179 , total £298 , a saving of £44 on the 2 year plan. NOT SO according to dealer who advises that the first oil service is charged out at c. £149 although he concurs with the interim figure at £179 . Then you look at the content of the Service Plan , especially second year .... it provides an interim / inspection service (an oil change and a possible pollen filter) , not the Major Service stated as required every 2 years in published data although I accept there is some ambiguity over whether a 2 year Major Service is required at the first 2 years , only subsequent 2 year intervals . And then of course there is general confusion over air filters / pollen filters / plugs on petrols etc etc . In summary a bit of a buggers muddle caused in the main by Skoda UK not communicating properly with their dealer network before publishing interval / cost lists . I'll probably just buy a 2 year plan and face a further journey into the twilight zone as I approach year 3 servicing requirements ... Oh just tried to buy one on line and a message appears telling me (actual message cut and pasted) 'Sorry, we have been unable to locate a ŠKODA Service Plan for your vehicle. Please visit your local ŠKODA Retailer for suitable alternatives'. It's life Jim , but not as we know it , not as we know it , not as we know it 😬
