Thanks for your input. I'm planning ahead, so my aim is for higher power eventually with an engine swap. I had seen some seat formentor akebono calipers available for it, but just looking at all options really. Just in case there is a better option.

Keep your eyes peeled on this, for some changes coming soon. Big brake upgrades, looking for recommendations to fit behind 19x9 Bentley wheels. Plus some other special touches.

Hi all, what side skirts will fit the prefl other than mk5 golf gti? I have those on currently and fancy a change. Thanks.

Well it's been an eventful couple of weeks. The engine management light came on after the roof spoiler was fitted. Straight into the garage for diagnostics and repair. New pcv fitted and still had an issue, so further diagnostic tests discovered that the timing had slipped a tooth on the belt. New belt water pump etc, also had the cam chain and follower done. And had the injectors cleaned and the intake and valves walnut blasted. Car runs a lot quieter and smoothly now. I highly recommend getting yourinjectors cleaned and the intake and valves blasted.

07 retrofit powerfold mirrors.
Hi all, I have an 07 vrs and fitted the powerfold mirrors from a newer fl mk2. The job is as simple as it gets. Remove the door card and sail panel trim. Access the 3 bolts to remove the mirrors and unplug the electrical plug, then refit the powerfold mirrors. Then remove the door module/window motor. Replace with the new door module/motor. Then plug all the connectors into the module including the extended one from the new mirrors. At this point double check the window mechanism works correctly as it will reverse the opening/closing if on the wrong side (a mistake i made). Also check the operation of the mirrors folding smoothly. Then reassemble the door. While I was at it I fitted dynamic indicators and carbon mirror caps. Once done sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labours. You will also aquire puddle lights which I also replaced with led units. I'll try and get part numbers for everything required. And share on this post.

Airbags
Hi all, I'm thinking of fitting a mk3 steering wheel to my mk2 prefl. Am I best going to the main dealers for an airbag or would the one from the same seller be OK? Would not be using the multi function controls. So the buttons would be swapped for blanks. Is there a way to find out which airbag I'd need for the steering wheel? If I have the wheels part number.

Well the car went to the audio shop for a few tweaks of the alpine halo 9 head unit just before Xmas. To get the system sounding just right, but they found issues with the setup. They found the positive wiring to be a fire hazard and had to strip the whole system out and rewire. Also fitting a new amplifier with dsp in to control the speakers. Mids fitted to the a pillars also to enhance the sound. And finally a new remote to control the master volume and bass. Also has a switch to allow for show mode (more bass) or everyday listening switching the mids on allowing sq over downright bass.

Unfortunately I don't have any pics of the underside of the car. It would depend on the size of pipework used, as mine is smaller with no boxes at the end it fits with the tow hook in place. But will need to get removed when I go to 3" pipework.

The tow hook is still in place. They used 2 3/4" pipe for the exhaust. But I'll be changing to 3" sometime this year. I can't see it causing any problems.

Gearshifter
Hi all, I'm considering buying a short shift gear mechanism for my 2007 octavia vrs petrol 6 speed. Would anyone know whether it is top or bottom mounted on those model vrs's? Currently don't have access to the car to check. All help is appreciated. Thanks.

Well 2 weeks ago Wednesday was a bad day for my project. Someone decided to slam the brakes on half way out a junction. And I ran into the back of them. She is currently at the bodyshop waiting for the rebuild.

Bumper reinforcement.
I'm only going by the listing on Ebay. It says available with or without pedestrian protection. And just wondered if it made a difference. The listing is just for the slam panel and bumper reinforcement bar. No rad pack etc. So wondered if it was a foam sleeve type thing to go between the bumper plastic and the bumper reinforcement bar.

Bumper reinforcement.
Does a 2007 octavia vrs bumper reinforcement frame have pedestrian protection built in? Looking for a new one and not sure if the car has it built in or not. Before I get the wrong one.

Newest mod for the car, couldn't get a black one so bought beige and painted black to match the rest of the interior. Just need to find the sidelight wire on the switch. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it?

Prefl questions.
Thanks again, I've used that site to purchase a couple of items before. It's a very helpful site and having part numbers is extremely helpful too.

Prefl questions.
Thanks for that, it's very helpful. The system I'm planning is currently in an Audi a3. So will have everything to hand pretty much. Just wasn't sure whether the floor pan needed modifications to fit the rear diff etc. As I currently have a stereo system installed in the boot and wheel well.

Prefl questions.
Should also add its a hatchback not estate if that makes a difference!

Prefl questions.
Thanks for your replies. I'll have to look into this a bit more. As I didn't really want to remove the stereo installed in the boot. But looks like it'll need to be modified too.

Thank you. Does the wheel well get removed then for the conversion?
