Bumper reinforcement.

Featured Replies

Does a 2007 octavia vrs bumper reinforcement frame have pedestrian protection built in? Looking for a new one and not sure if the car has it built in or not. Before I get the wrong one.

The parts catalogue/diagram for the bodywork/chassis parts of the front end (all mk2 Octys for 2007) are HERE and the plastic and bracket parts of the 2007 RS front bumper are HERE.

As far as I'm aware the 'pedestrian protection' elements are from the bumper mouldings.  The underframe looks to be shaped to protect the cooling system and the front of the motor.

Please define are you referring to as "pedestrian protection"

In my experience there is the plastic body colour outer bumper (an oxymoron if ever there was one!), an expanded polystyrene filler section and the crash beam or bumper reinforcement frame as I think you are calling it.

All have different part numbers, none come bundled with the other parts.

I'm only going by the listing on Ebay. It says available with or without pedestrian protection. And just wondered if it made a difference. The listing is just for the slam panel and bumper reinforcement bar. No rad pack etc. So wondered if it was a foam sleeve type thing to go between the bumper plastic and the bumper reinforcement bar.

It sounds like the moulded polystyrene packing piece, usually very expensive for what it is which is identical to the packing you get on a boxed electrical item like a computer monitor or laptop, it was such a silly price for the Yeti I decided to glue together the pieces of the old one.

They do a tremendous job though, mine had transferred enough impact to bend the crash bar, set off the airbags yet the bumper was only scuffed and remains on the vehicle to this day.

It would make sense to offer it with the crash beam and I can see why they describe it as pedestrian protection, the vehicle would look no different without it but would do a lot more corporal damage in a collision, also do more damage to the painted bumper.
