  1. Just to set your mind at rest, Colin. Had my L&K heated windscreen done at Autoglass including calibration. Went perfectly with no problems in the past 3 years. They got me to check everything before I left. Really good service, and covered by insurance minus a relatively small excess.
  2. Drove it home from Heathrow. No great drama, I hear you say. Except that it was parked up there for two months. And it's on the original battery, which is 5 years old. I'd made sure my jumper was fully charged before we went, but it wasn't needed. Didn't even need to use the fob to open the doors. Genuinely impressed.
  3. What did you replace it with @Gizmo, if you don't mind me asking?
  4. Updated the navigation. Now it remembers how to get me most of the way home... Thanks as always to @MartiniBfor the link .
  5. If you have the active lane guidance as well as DSG they combine to give Traffic Jam Assist, where the car will do the crawling for you (including stopping without you touching the brakes). Brilliant in my neck of the woods where the motorway run is followed by a crawl into the city centre.
  6. Yes it's a common issue due to the lights not being sealed. It's worse in winter and disappears in spring. Nothing to worry about. There are lots of threads on here about it if you want to do a search, but the main message is don't worry about it.
  7. AFAIK all 2017 cars above the base model have ACC. The way to tell is to check that the green speedometer light appears when you engage it, then set it at the longest distance setting and check (while covering the brake pedal and watching like a hawk) that your car is showing as the car in front does. From memory there is also a speed limiter function which engages from a button on the bottom of the ACC stalk. It's worth checking if you have engaged that by accident. And if none of that helps, post some pictures of the messages you see on the screen and we can see how it compares with our cars. Good luck and with it.
  8. Hi @SkudMissile21 just to confirm my MY17 L&K has the same gaps. Annoying for live albums for sure. Would be interested if you find a fix.
  9. One that works for me... I have a small drying towel and a woolly mammoth for drying the car after washing. I use the small one until pretty well soaked, then after finishing drying the exterior with the woolly mammoth I use the small towel to clean all the shuts. Agree with @john999boy re paper towels - and paint doesn't self-heal in the same way human body parts do😄.
  10. Hi @plasma99 and welcome. Can't help directly, but a few questions if i may that might allow others to help diagnose. When you talk about the tailgate button, do you mean the one on the centre console or the one on the tailgate itself? Estate or hatch? How much has the car been driven recently? Sorry for all the questions, but it's not clear to me what is actually going on. On mine I only get a warning noise if using the button on the centre console (not when using the button on the hatch). I've heard that drained battery can cause various problems (in mine the worst was start-stop unavailable and keyless opening not working, but others have had multiple failures). So I would start by making sure the battery is fully charged. If that doesn't sort it, I'm afraid it may require replacement of the tail button. ISTR others have had this problem and had parts replaced under warranty (doesn't help you i know). Id recommended a search of this forum to see what it turns up. Good luck with it.
  11. All the best to you and yours. Hope everything works out and you come back with a 280 mapped to 500.
  12. Great to hear @Sandgroper. But in case anyone uses this for reference, what you actually did is slightly different from what (i think) you described. @BOD20 is spot on - the two folders and the metainfo file need to be copied to the root of the card / stick. They can be copied at the same time - you don't have to do them individually. But it sounds like originally you copied the whole high12 folder onto your card, meaning the two mib folders and metainfo file were not at the root. Thus the car couldn't read them. Sorry for the pedantry, but it might help someone else 👍.
  13. Me too - usually. But not this time, hence its worth checking via nav settings as that did work for me.
  14. One thing to try if it doesn't start updating as soon as you put the card in the slot. Go to Nav / settings and select version information. It will show you the current version installed and ask if you want to update (my MY17 works like that, it may vary slightly on newer models). It will then tell you it is looking for updates. This seemed to take ages for me, so stick with it. Then it starts updating and shows percentage complete. When done, it restarts the navigation system, though you can use nav while it is updating.
  15. I had to try a couple of times to get it to work so I'd suggest trying the download again. FYI I used @MartiniB's link to the Skoda portal. I wonder if the new one will realise the toll gates to Wales have been removed...
  16. Actually got to drive it . Client meetings, c70 mile round trips. I have to say I'm really impressed by how the car has handled lockdown. Driven on average 12 miles a week for 3 months, yet no flat battery (KESSY door opening stopped working a couple of times but there was never a hint that it wouldn't start). No error messages, no problems. 56mpg average on what may well still have been winter diesel. Filled it for the first time since early March earlier today. COVID (and the resultant lack of mileage) means I will be keeping the Superb at least another year. I'm delighted at the prospect 👍.
  17. Mundane one from me, but worth considering for those who haven't driven for a while. Took mine up the motorway and back to charge the battery in preparation for travelling to client meetings next week. 70 mph is quick if you haven't done it for a while! I used ACC to settle myself into things, but will be doing the same trip tomorrow to get back into motorway driving. Stay safe all.
  18. Hi @beerok and welcome (back). The 190 TDI is a peach. Great mid-range grunt and brilliant fuel economy. I think you will love it. I've only done 35k in mine, but I have no doubt it will keep going comfortably to 200k if maintained properly. There is a reason they are used as taxis! Shy is right about where the Adblue filler cap is, but a bit optimistic on usage. I haven't calculated anything scientific, but when you get the 1,500 mile fill-up warning, putting 10 litres in gives a range of c9,000 miles. So about 750 miles per litre. Everything is shown in the infotainment screen, including miles remaining to fill-up. Adblue costs pennies so won't add significantly to running costs. I buy a 10-litre tin from Halfords for about £12 - others fill up using garage forecourt pumps, which is even cheaper. Get some pictures up once you have it, and enjoy the new motor. 👍
  19. 190 TDI. I think it was on here someone said cycling the ignition wasn't necessary to reset the range. There were quite a few threads on adblue here when I got mine and I asked about it since I had never had adblue previously. From memory (it was a couple of years ago now) when I did my first refill, within a few seconds it had reset by itself so I didn't need to turn it off again. It's been the same with each refill - it resets almost immediately with no need to cycle the ignition. FYI I have kessy and wait to select my profile before starting the car, so that delay may be why it had reset and didn't need cycling. Just guessing though.
  20. Mine (MY17) doesn't need the "turn it off and on" routine to recognise it has been refilled. I just start and go - within a few seconds the warning goes away and the new adblue range is displayed.
