I think the oil filter is changed with the oil, but spark plugs, brake fluid, DSG oil change, air-con service etc are all extras.

you are right, i called one of the local dealers to clarify

So i made purchase and there is already discrepancy between what is included which is the pollen/air filter

  2. Its been over 2 weeks since I took my car and I still await from dealer for their only member of staff to return and submit my claims to Skoda UK for warranty authorization.

Based on above faults I listed all they said "we think its locks"

After documenting in detail and video all faults, skoda not willing to confirm if my claims are under warranty, unable to find my extended warranty in system, asking me to provide them warranty terms and conditions, answers from their staff like should, could, I believe so.....

Sadly I would rather get next time another car brand and happy to pay extra premium knowing service will be better.

  3. I have issue where if seat belt is pulled out at extreme angle it will get jammed in the trim mechanism, the bit that rocks the seat belt sideways. The fix is simple you just pull the belt side ways or move the mechanism and it releases it.

I also checked our other brand car with same mechanism, its impossible to trap the seatbelt like with Karoq.

To me this is design flaw or i have faulty parts. Can anyone else try this and confirm?

Dealerships have a Dealer Principal a Finance Director, someone that acts as a Warranty Manager, a Head Sales Person,

so get answers from one of them and maybe not a Service Desk Person who might have a NVQ if Keyboard / Phone Skills even though that should been enough for them to know who to actually ask.

Skoda UK Customer Services know which person to get answers from.

If you purchase a Warranty / Extended Warranty for the 4th or 5th year which is an Insurance /Financial Agreement make sure you get the Policy Document so you have the T&C.s.

The seller is responsible to provide this and a seller could easily mis-sell if they do not know the product.  They are an agent for the Underwriters / Skoda / VW or which ever sub division of them that are the Warranty Company.

    Thank you

I have contacted now the original sales person and also customer support at Skoda UK.

Very surprised that Skoda service person cannot tell me if in principle faults I described are warranty covered.

  5. I have booked in to look at some faults under extended warranty policy (year 4 now) however the dealership are being very reluctant to advise if its covered and wanting my confirmation of the initial charge to investigate (if this is not covered by the warranty), when i say "well don't you know your own policy" i get answers like maybe, should, could and well you should have the warranty terms when you have purchased it.

Biggest problem right now is central locking issues

This is going to be a wild shot but has anyone purchased poxy extended 5 year warranty in 2018 and keep this poxy policy document ?

  6. i will chip in, almost 4 years old, 30k miles, 1.5 TSI edition 2018 reg

    Small stuff

Issue 1: Top dashboard storage compartment lid gets stuck
Issue 2: Seat Belt (front passenger) not retracting, intermittent issue
Issue 3: Globe box lid gets stuck sometimes

    Big stuff

    Issue 4: Central locking
    1. Central locking keeps locking and unlocking by itself.
    2. Key is not detected scenario 1 - key left inside for a minutes and car locks itself
    3. Key is not detected scenario 2 - car is locked, key does not open it, use manual entry and it sets off car alarm despite key opening the car door,
    4. Comfort access doesn't work sometimes, have to take key out and unlock the car
    5. Ignition does not start - get into car okay, press start button it doesn't start the car, press remote unlock button and they try again and it starts

  7. I just did scan of the car with OBD11 app and i see i have updates due

    • 1.5 TSI Engine software version 5472 and now 9752 is available
    • Automatic Transmission software version 1615 and now 1622 is available

Standard 3 year warranty runs out in 3 days, 2 year warranty extension then kicks in. Do you know what these updates are and if i can get dealer to carry this out for free?

  8. @silver1011 collection and drop off service, car was washed outside

Unfortunately when the car was sold to us the servicing options were not explained with us, otherwise based on what i learned, i better off financially to take 'Service plan – Under 1 year old cars Available for £342 or 18 monthly payments of £19' or looking back at the price at that think it was £279. I been told i cant get on this plan until i have 2 more variable services.

@Roottootemblowinootsoot i think i agree £269 is expensive especially when you look at breakdown below, essentially they did on my car the £179 + £35 and these are the figures I tried to reasons with them on the phone but they would not barge and glossed up the whole fee as if it was amazing value.

Its not great to be now locked into these high service costs, think the next is with extended scope so i believe it will be under £300

Most new Karoq's 2 years ago came with 2 free services which ours came with.

you make it sound like it was freebie, it was in fact it was bundled in if you purchased car on finance

the main message is that they affordable cars but high costs to maintain

  10. This is moan up topic!

Had my first ever service variable type: £269.01 (i rang about 3 dealerships), car is 2 years old / 18,500 miles

the costs still sinking in! its mainly oil, oil filter and cabin filter, i checked the dashcam and the car was in workshop 40 minutes maximum

    image.thumb.png.28ce7d84b648dee7f01af326b71b9f68.png

I have BMW 3 series and their comparable service is just £200.37

Neighbour has been given an ASBO and his best friend found guilty in a Magistrates Court of aggravated racial comments aimed at my African wife so hope you don't share any of his character traits. Also had the joy of waiting 20 months for VAG to sort out the mess which was the first gear hesitation so don't appreciate someone poking fun at my/our experiences.

Our neighbour stolen wiper from front windscreen, think he thought he could bully my wife, got it all on dashcam, going to see him this week!

Hope your diesel BMW came with ear defenders as I can hear my neighbours 64 plate BMW 420D when it clatters into life and rumbles past my house. That's when he he is not using his horn to wake me up when I'm working nights. Hardly surprising no-one will let a BMW driver out of a T-Junction.

Here comes the hornet with skoda badge...

1.5 year with jerking car in any weather and engine temperature don’t give any chance for smile.

sorry about grammar mistakes in previous post...

I have to say this is first time and probably last time with a VAG brand. There are problems, lack of solving them, the whole approach from the business us so cut and dry and business is too big too care or to hurry

    Thanks for information.

Nevertheless, it would be interesting to compile statistics knowing exactly which alternator is installed.

They are 110A, 140A and 180A. Two firms, Bosch and Valeo.

I'm so tired of jerking that I’m ready to take a chance and change the alternator current generator. Because it seems to me that VAG does not care about us. And they won’t do anything to solve the problem.

I just read the second paragraph and its funny

  15. My wife's Karoq 1.5 TSI DSG is going for service this coming Thursday and also so far 3 warranty items below, can anyone recommend anything else that is known to fail so i can check? I just don't drive the car at all to notice issues?

    1. Top dashboard storage compartment lid gets stuck

    2. Glove box compartment lid gets stuck

    3. Driver front seat belt doesn't always retract

    4. Anything else that i could check based on forum feedback....

Software updated - I am not sure if the car suffers the reported kangaroo from the initial acceleration and frankly the 100+ is a bit confusing as some suggest its only for the manual not DSG but then others state it is for DSG.

  16. The single driver side wiper has been stolen, halfords (chosen given that i am desperate for it) say they dont have compatible ones and i need to go to dealership

Can someone kindly measure theirs and tell me or even better if you guys have already purchased  one an dit fits?

    Prefer Bosch
