  1. Welcome Harry,

    Driving Vulvas sounds fun!;)

    Hello Ladies and Gents

well I finally went and bought my first Skoda having driven Vulvas for the last thirty years. I am approaching 60 and thought nuts to it lets have some fun.

So I went and bought myself a 2012 MKII Octavia Vrs Estate DSG with paddleshift. 79k FSH and a busted passenger front window regulator. She is now in Murray Skoda Plymouth having the window done and the rubbers around the headlight fixed back as they seem to like coming out and flapping in the wind once you reach 60mph lol.

I am smitten and I she is so much fun. I drive an FLT for work and love photography. Really looking forward to talking to you guys and maybe meeting up when all this Covid19 malarky fades away a bit because lets face it, it ain't going away anytime soon is it.

So there we are, another Skoda convert.

    regards

    Harry

  2. There was a big issue back in April 2018 when Skoda stopped handover of new cars with signal booster fitted. They had to be removed due to "regulatory issues", I believe under Ofcom instruction. I was driving to dealer to pick up new car when I got the call that handover had been blocked. Was quite a lot of chat on hear at the time about this.

I believe this just affected cars in the UK market.

Hi CJL, For the June update, have you tried copying the PersonalPOI folder and metainfo2.txt file from the MIB2HIGH folder into the root of the SD card. This worked fine for my Octavia L&K MIB2.5 System.

    EU Speedcams MIB2HIGH June 2020.zip 1.63 MB · 4 downloads

Thanks Pegasus, this solved the "No Data" error I was getting on my Columbus MIB 2.5 when I tried to add the speed camera POI to my Superb yesterday.

Massive thanks to you @bigade1 for all your work in putting together and maintaining this resource, you are a star! 👍

  4. I specified my Superb with a space saver spare wheel as I dread the idea of being stuck on the side of the road with a can of gloop.

I also carry a 12v mini compressor, tyre gauge and those tyre repair strip kits

Great for getting yourself out of a tricky situation as you can use it with the tyre still on the car. My intention would be to use as a temporary repair until I could get to a tyre place. But saying that I had a car going in scrappage when I bought the Superb. Because handover was delayed due to the signal booster issue I ended up doing over a 1000 miles in the old motor on a tyre I had repaired in this way.

The kit I bought was about £3 on ebay, in my opinion well worth it to give you another option if you do get a puncture.

I bought a vodafone data sim today and installed in the car, still getting the red symbol on the top of the display.. any ideas?

Have you got this sorted Technics?

You have to make a selection through Columbus, if you or anybody needs me to i can go to car and list here the steps of what you need to select.

    Let me know

  6. Kessy works every time on mine now. First few days I didn't quite have the hang of it.

When using  to unlock just pull the handle as normal as if you were opening an unlocked car door, when locking touch the outside of the handle. I am sure you know but a quick visual check if you have locked correctly is wing mirrors folding in.

    Can I suggest an improvement?

The flappy bits you have there... how about a bit of velcro to stick to the carpet sides?  otherwise a great idea...and one I'm considering (albeit only for the boot area)

    That is a good idea!

I have used it, but didnt want to do all my final trimming in a rush. Glad I didnt now as velcro on those flappy bits is a good thinking:handshake:

  8. Having had a 530d saloon in which the rear seats did not fold I am loving the space of the Combi Superb. The new car also gave me the opportunity to do a few runs to the recycling centre.

I had done some research on here looking at various boot liners etc. One tip I read on her was a guy who bought and cut some rubber matting to line his boot. I wanted a one piece solution that extended to the front seats.

I know this solution wont suit all, but works for me. The way Ive cut it is not extending up the sides at all.

The way I use it is just insert when moving something large and messy. Then it is out of the car, rolled, stored in rafters in garage. Be aware though it is heavy ish as I said it wont suit all, but for £25 it works well for me.

Another benefit Penguin is I have a few off cuts which I intend to stick to my alloys for added protection

Lovely motor mate. I think it was Penguin who mentioned the k word. I was the one struggling to hear you:biggrin:.

    Apologies BriskodaJeff,

In my head I have blamed you for the night terrors, sleepless nights and panic over the last month. But on checking the thread you are right it was that sod Penguin.

    Sorry

    Great looking car JR RS.

On looking more closely at your pictures I was surprised to see you have been doing donuts in the car park........... shocking :-)

  11. Hi Guys,

Could anyone explain the Retractable boot cover on the Superb Combi?

This was a option on my week old Superb Combi 3U7.

I thought the retractable boot cover was electrically operated? Min retracts when tapped but doesnt move back and forth as boot opens and closes. I thought that this was what was termed sliding boot cover.

    Thanks in advance

  12. In fairness they did offer loan car on day one.

But it would have meant driving for over two hours (there and back) to use temporarily a car I did not want.

I still have my perfectly serviceable car which was going as part of the deal. I'm pleased about that because it gives me flexibility, As nice as my new car is likely to be I do not want it until I get things clarified I asked about on Friday. If I dont there will be a high specification Sportline available for immediate delivery.

Anyway as they were too busy to make contact in anyway Saturday, Sunday or Monday I saved them the trouble and called this morning. I was so pleased the salesman did not say "I was just about to call you". Anyway the sales guy explained he wanted to call me with all the answers, he had none. I have said in future I would like a regular call even if it was to say he knows nothing.

He has agreed to ring me every 3 months if he remembers with regular updates.

Does anyone know if Skoda/VAG have announced anything official yet about this issue?

  13. Thanks Dunc69 your support is welcome.

My plan was not to ring at all today to see when they called, and no communication at all since Friday, as I said busy selling cars.

I spoke to various people at Skoda UK today, there is an option to raise a complaint against the dealer, I rang the dealer a few times Friday and will ring them tomorrow. I am planning to ring just as they were about to ring me, bet I manage it

Since Friday its been horrible. But to be honest communication since paying deposit has been awful. Anyway I would just like my car with relevant reduction and would love to contribute to this forum in a more positive way.

I was just thinking as writing this if anyone in this situation had less notice than me. I was due to pick up my car at 11:00am Friday and received the call about the block at 9:53am. I was already driving to dealership, do I win?
