2015 Octavia vrs. A few questions
allan1888 replied to Scrawnban's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
If you have sat nav it will be the Amundsen or Columbus, if no sat nav it will be the bolero unit. The Columbus has a DVD drive and 2 SD card slots in the glovebox, The others just have 2 SD card slots if I'm remembering right -

The sound actuator can be reduced or turned off with VCDS or OBD Eleven, if you have a member with them local they may be willing to do it for you. My usb recognises my iPod classic, it may depend on what radio you have I have the Columbus unit -

not sure on the tinted rear windows but the black pack included mirrors too. its likely that someone has changed the grille surround themselves i know i did. i wanted the black grille but not the mirrors or roof rails on my estate -
To be honest out of warranty i wouldn't use a main dealer for servicing, most indy VW specialists can update the digital service log anyways. If concerned about the "mit silikat" on the tank best thing to do is swap the tank anyway and cut the risk of failure much safer when out of warranty, its hard enough getting Skoda to honour the warranty while you still have one its even harder when outwith

Doubt it to be honest, that would require Skoda to acknowledge there was a fault in the first place, and we know they won't do that -

If under warranty and you're having electrical issues why are they trying to charge you. Contact Skoda customer service and raise your issues with them. -

Phone Skoda UK why should you have to pay for fuel just because their dealer is incompetent. -

I used one of these to remove the coolant in the tank, then swapped the tanks over and refilled with new coolant. Really simple job, there was no point in replacing all the coolant as it was still fine but will likely Do a full change next year -

New tank doesn't have bag or separate chamber for silicate, coolant is still G13, I have not heard anything regarding a coolant change interval being added but a dealer or Skoda themselves could maybe advise, but then that's them admitting there was a problem with the original tanks/design which I doubt they will do. If the cars under warranty I wouldn't be too fussed and would gladly argue with them over it. Out of warranty like me I got rid of the tank and silicate and will refresh my coolant when necessary. -

Coolant is still G13 there is no change, if you can get the bag out with no damage that's perfectly fine, my tank didn't have the bag but a separate chamber for the silicate. It was easier for me to change the tank it took less than 20 minutes. -

The thing I would like to know has Skoda updated the servicing information to allow for a coolant change interval since the new tanks don't have silicate and will require a change at some point -

Apologies I didn't realise you were having issues, hopefully your dealer can sort it -

There is every chance the bag has been removed, a lot of dealers have been removing them due to the issues. -

That is likely what the different tank is we are talking about. The tank I had on my MY2015 did not have the bag but a separate compartment. The new tanks don't have the "mit Silikat" label on them now and the coolant has not changed. Exactly have vw group changed the service requirements that the coolant needs changed after at a certain interval or realised that the silicate is not required -

That's the new tank that's fitted now, it doesn't have the bag or the container so it will be fine 👍 -

chances are your tank doesn't say "mit Silikat" on it and probably has the newest tank. only skoda will know for certain when the changes in the tanks happened, But new tanks don't have the container or the bag so for peace of mind i had to change mine. -

my car is a MY2015 Tsi vrs and it had the tank with the container most of the people posting here have newer cars with the bag in the tank. The newest tank supplied by skoda doesn't have the container or the bag. -

The way I look at it is the new tanks don't have the bag or the container for the Silikat so it must have been removed for a reason. From what I have seen the tank with the container was fitted first then switched to the bag type, only vw group will know the reason why the change was made whether it's down to failure or cost. For me even though I had the tank with the container it's not worth me taking the chance of a failure especially out of warranty. -

Any idea when the twin walled tank was replaced with the tank that has the bag or vice versa, from all the posts I see the bag came after the twin walled tank going by the vehicles in people's profiles, which means the twin walled tank had issues or was more expensive to manufacture so they switched to the bag that was cheaper but came with its own issues. Now it's removed all together. -

What model year is your car ? Just trying to figure out when they changed from the twin walled tank to the one with the bag, my 2015 vrs had the twin walled tank with no access to remove anything -

The tanks don't even have the twin wall design now or the bag, so if the twin walled tank wasn't failing why redesign another tank and remove the MIT Silikat label completely. The coolant hasn't changed so why the tank redesign to remove a part that was causing issues. I never said removing the bag would cost £££, I said I wasn't taking the chance with mine being out of warranty so changed my tank to save £££ from a potential failure -

There must have been a reason for changing though you cant remove anything from the twin wall tank. i dont know if it was the bag first then switched to the twin wall tank or the other way around. if there was no issues with the twin wall why would they change it and remove the " mit silikat" completely, since im out of warranty there is no way i was taking the chance, Spend £20-30 and save myself £££ in potential costs. -

My 2015 vrs had the twin walled tank, I don't know when they changed the design but I wasn't taking the chance with a failure
