  1. Similar failure rate for the Skoda Rapid. Guess what? Mine passed because:

    Its serviced on time

I check it over a few times a week

I check the tyres and bulbs

I ensure its spotless when it goes for its MOT.

I am thinking of getting Halfords to fit a nextbase dash cam to my new Superb. Are there any warranty implications from Skoda?

No. Took mine in for a recent service. They disconnected the dash cam but only took off the rear camera connection! The main front camera is hard wired. No warranty issues at all.

  4. How can it void the warranty?. Its a piggyback fuse and earth wire to a bolt by the fuse box. I purchased the nextbase 322 with rear window camera. £150 With hard wire kit and SD card. Fitted it myself in 20 minutes. The top of the range 522 was only around £50 more but I did not need Alexa. Halfords fit for under £40.

  5. I recently purchased some Bosch wiper blades from Halfords after typing in my registration number. They were the wrong type but the Halfords own brand fitted with the supplied clips. Found that strange as my previous Bosch ones were the same as the above photos, clipped straight on.

  6. Just had my first MOT and brake fluid change on the Spaceback at Capitol Newport. £88 all in which for a main dealer I thought was excellent value for money. I had a few months left of my approved warranty which included any MOT work. I didnt need it as the car passed with no advisories. Usually excellent service from Jenny Cox.

I see today that Bristol are planning to ban all PRIVATE diesel cars from certain areas at certain times from 2021 and all other diesel vehicles will have to pay a premium (probably quite hefty too) The future is here folks !

Who the hell wants to visit Bristol! The most unfriendly car city in the world.

😁 Yup went for the Harman Kardon sound package - the sound is amazing  - its the first time I have had anything other than stock - but with the discount I got, I couldn't resist.

I have to say it is in a different league in terms of comfort and refinement (from an Octavia maybe not so much from a Superb) but then again on paper at least it is a far more expensive car.

Bizarrely though it was cheaper on PCP than a Superb or Kodiaq whith that and the Part Ex was the deciding factor.

The boot is smaller than the Octavia - not by a massive margin so for me wasn't an issue, but I could see how that could be a deal breaker for some.

I would go back to a Skoda in the future but the deal has to be right.

It's cheaper on PCP because the Volvo residual would be higher at the end of the PCP. That's why a Citroen C1 is more a month than a Citigo

  9. Bought my approved Skoda Rapid Spaceback from Marshall's Barnstaple 2 years ago this week. I had 2 years warranty and breakdown cover. I had a leaky water pump changed locally to me in Capitol Newport no quibble.

The car otherwise has been excellent. I would not worry about the distance. The video and service gave me confidence and the best deal in the country at the time.

I have just had a video through from Bristol Skoda on a Citigo for my daughter. You may pay a little extra but its worry free motoring.

Just been in the configurator and I’m surprised how many things in the Scala are optional - even with SE-L spec. I’ve managed to spec one up with nothing particularly glamorous and it’s come out at £26k plus, comparable to an equivalent Golf. An equivalent Mazda 3 (new shape) is also about £500 cheaper and comes with all the safety systems you could imagine as standard across the range. Curtain and knee airbags are options in the Scala - these are standard fit in even a Fiat 500! Front centre armrest that you see in all the press cars - also an option. So unfortunately it doesn’t look such great value after all.

Quite. My 66 plate se tech spaceback seems a bargain!

It makes no odds to me. My life echos to ‘you don’t seem the type’ comments, as if there is such a thing, I think sometimes people are just trying to be nice. A ex colleague of mine could never get to grips with it, she was forever bemused that I would choose to be married to woman, mostly because I don’t posses a shaved head and Harley Davidson, and neither does my wife. She assumed my wife must have possessed some masculine quality, not so. I don’t walk around with a big rainbow flag waving over my head so it’s a fair assumption to make

Obviously a council worker here with little grasp of facts (apart from maybe their pension fund)

I've news for you, my water is supplied and sewage handled by Yorkshire Water, a totally private company whom I pay handsomely. I believe this is a common arrangement.....:tongueout:

I did not mention water as in Wales its not for profit. Sure I have worked everyone of my 39 years and still going. Looking to go to 65 god willing then do something else. With AVC,s the pot should be ok.

Ours has gone up a staggering 6% in total, the "council" bit went up 2.99% 0.01% under the threshold that would trigger a compulsory public referendum. (But with the latest precedents I suppose they could just ignore the result)

    Cute barstewards:envy:

Ok. Remember the social experiment a few years back when a street thought they would be better off arranging their own services such as bin collections etc etc etc. Couldn't cope and couldn't afford it. Did not last any time before normal business resumed. Try walking 5 miles each way for dirty drinking water and you would soon change your tune.
