  1. I have a 2016 Skoda Octavia estate. Apart from the media taking ages to load , (which now seems to have corrected itself), I can no longer get any traffic reports when I press the “TRAFFIC “ button on my info screen. I am not aware of switching anything off and according to the manual, this is permanently loaded. Anyone else had the same problem, or can recommend a reset of some kind. Cheers 😉
  2. Beat me to it Dave. Tried a different battery Panasonic 2032 instead of a 2025. Worked first time. I can only assume it was a contact problem, as the 2032 is slightly thicker. All ok now, and my money still in my pocket, not the Skoda dealers. thanks for all the suggestions guys.
  3. Have run out of ideas now. Tried 3 fully charged batteries, all to no avail. Still got no flashing light. Looks like a call to the main dealer this morning.😉. Better see if I can get a second mortgage at £90+ an hour labour 😊
  4. Anyone else had this problem? I store all my music on an SD2 card in my Mk3 Octavia. It was fine until I had an oil change and the service reminder was removed. Now it takes about a minute to load when the Media button is pressed. I’ve seen various video clips on YouTube, but am wary of cocking up the system. The garage insists it’s not down to them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  5. No Gaz. Have just tried another battery. 3.28 volts on the meter and the light doesn’t flash at all now 😉.
  6. I have replaced the battery in my Octavia Mk3 key fob. The battery is fine , full voltage. The red light indicator on the fob flashes really fast and it does not unlock the doors. Is this something I need to take to the man dealer to fix? I have changed the batteries myself before with no issues like this. Any help is appreciated.
  7. Well chaps, turns out it was the SD card that was faulty. As it was less than a year old it’s being replaced, so hopefully I should be operational by weekend. 👍
  8. Mentioned this to a Skoda technician yesterday. Was told to “hold the on /off button in for 15 seconds to force a hard reset” . Done that this morning with no success. Will reformat the SD card on my pc as PetrolDave suggests and see if that works. Will keep posting on here until I get a solution. Thanks for tips so far.👍😊
  9. Might do that Dave, it can’t harm. Will buy another SD card and copy to that as well. I think I paid £16 or more for the last one, I know it wasn’t cheap. 😉
  10. Have done that a couple of times but no joy. Contacts nice and clean. Good quality SD card used as well.
  11. I use an SD card to store music to play in my 2016 Octavia MkIII. Normally when I press the media button on the console, it goes straight to the SD card and plays from where it was last stopped. Recently it has started coming up with an error screen and when you search for the source, the SD card is not highlighted. I wonder if it’s something I can sort myself, or if I have even caused this myself, but it is annoying to say the least. It does come up after about a minute or so but it’s not working as it should. The car has just been back to have a new gear selector sensor fitted. I wondered if any programming that might have required has interfered with this. Don’t particularly want to take it back to the dealers again but will do if no answers on here. Any help gratefully received 🙂.
  12. Thanks for clarifying that Lee. I will be more careful. It doesn’t help when the wife’s car is a manual and you swap between the two :). I wouldn’t have expected to hear any sort of “engagement” noise though, which was more alarming. I bought the car in January and to be fair have not driven it much. It was fully serviced prior to purchase. Post was really to see if anyone else has had same thing happen. Looks like I am the culprit so far
  13. It’s hard to describe really. Was just sat with foot on brake waiting for traffic to clear in the roundabout and there was a definite noise from the box. My wife is hard of hearing and she said “what was that ?”. Next thing it’s in Sport mode. I may have touched the selector but it should not make any sort of noise if that was the case. A bit like selecting 1st on a manual without synchromesh. I will get it checked out when I can get through to the dealership. Thanks for answering.
  14. Thanks I will. This is the first auto I have owned and I may still be guilty of reaching for the stick to change down at junctions, so I will be wary of that being a cause. That wasn’t the case the first time it happened though. I did call our local dealership and asked to speak to a technician but go no further than a young chap on reception who said he could help but was no use at all.
  15. Yep. The box selects gears in S mode shown behind the steering wheel but still shows NORMAL mode on the info screen.
  16. Twice now my Octavia mk3 auto, has decided to change from the D range of gears to S range on its own. I drive the car in NORMAL mode and the the gears selected show as D1 through to D5. If SPORT mode is selected, they show up as S1 to S4. The first time i noticed this was several weeks ago when the car, still in NORMAL mode, suddenly held itself longer in any particular gear and the accelleration was noticably faster, “S” range of gears showing on info screen. This whilst driving normally at fairly low speeds, ( I rarely drive above 60 as you can spot the potholes easier). It happened again yesterday, but more alarmingly as i was waiting to enter a roundabout. There was what i could only describe as a “crunch” from the DSG box and it changed from D to S again but still showing NORMAL mode on the info screen. The car has only done 29 k miles and has 18 months warranty left. Has anyone else has this happen? Parked up a couple of minutes later, I switched off the engine, restarted and all was correct again. Will get it booked in asap at local dealer for a check up.
  17. I would have done a few years ago, but don’t have the confidence any more. At 68, I prefer to watch and learn now
  18. The one I have been in contact with today is in Cheshire where I live. He has just come back to me with additional programming cost of £55, taking whole job to £550. I was given his details by my son in law, who had him fit a bar to his Freelander 2. Very nice job he did on it. Will post company when I get the details
  19. Thanks to all who have answered. This is a very helpful forum. I have found out that Skoda can supply a loom that plugs into the dedicated socket in the boot, (if fitted) or another that connects to the vehicles electronics at another location, without the requirement to “cut” into the existing loom. Neither of which if selected will affect the warranty. I have also discovered what “homologated” means. Thanks BigEjit
  20. My car was bought pre owned and still has 18 months Skoda warranty remaining. I agree, I would have done that if buying new.
  21. My car was bought pre owned, and gas 18 months Skoda warranty left. I agree, I would have done that if buying new.
  22. Thanks for the reply. I had to call them back regarding the dealership fitting a bar, which am told would be a grand. The parts manager said that as long as a genuine Westfalia bar and loom were fitted, it wouldn’t be a problem. If any wires were cut and problems occurred from that, then that would be down to the fitter and not Skoda, which is fair enough. Am surprised for what a dedicated loom would cost in a modern car, they are not fitted as standard. Both companies that I have contacted have said their quotes of £495 include genuine parts, so should be ok.
  23. . Hi, am new to this site. Have just bought a 2016 Octavia 2.0 SE Business estate, which has 18 months left on the Skoda warranty. I have had quotes from approved fitters for around £500 for a Westfalia removable hitch and 13 pin electrics. The car does not have a dedicated wiring socket in the boot. I have been told by local dealer that even if I have a Skoda approved bar and use a Skoda wiring loom, I will invalidate my remaining warranty. Does any other member know if this is the case. Waiting for price from dealer to gave them do the job.
