  1. Today has been an amazing day! Massive thanks to the guys at BroTek and AutoTech in Lanark for ordering and fitting this incredible piece of kit. New package arrived..... Beautiful craftsmanship right here... Out with the old! In with the new! Here's a hint... I'm now kitted out with a non-res cat-back Remus exhaust with a valve system to control the noise levels (which works absolutely amazingly!) I'd taken a few videos of the standard exhaust.. fly bys etc and will do the same with this exhaust fitted and different levels of valves opened/closed. Stay tuned! :p
  2. Yeah exactly why I'm swapping it out... be nice to have the sound controller because I don't want it loud all the time .. will be getting the engine noise through the speaker disabled too
  3. Just a small update... I lasted all of 3 months before buying into my first mod .. Waiting on delivery of a Remus cat-back exhaust with sound controller.. hopefully be fitted in the next week! Also got some gas bonnet struts to be fitted! Was out with the car taking some videos of the standard exhaust and will do the same after the Remus has been fitted.. will post it up when it's done!
  4. Thanks for the replies! .. Awesome read that tunedude, thanks for the link!
  5. I think my front suspension bushes are on their way out- on one side at least.. looking to replace them (probably in pairs)- would it be okay to replace just the front end or would it be recommended to do the rear as well? Also, anyone know of any links where to buy them?.. I've had a look around but there's so many and don't know what to go for!
  6. Thanks man, have you ever used one of these?
  7. As the title suggests, looking for all air intake options for the TSI VRS.. preferably not too expensive. The common ones seem to be APR or RacingLine but you're talking £300-700 just for an intake....... Are there any alternatives out there that people can recommend?
  8. Could be the turbo/intake you're hearing.. mine has a very subtle whistle when putting the foot down too
  9. Thanks mate! The VXR was a great little car but as you say- the Octy suits the daily life. No performance changes for the first year at least for the warranty but afterwards I'm thinking about a Remus exhaust with the sound controller- the Cobra I had on the VXR was super loud all the time and as good as it sounded, got a bit much when just trying to drive normally.. then a stage 1 map to hit around the 300 mark.. but as is it's perfectly fine and has enough torque behind it!
  10. I found a thread on here from 2010 and figured it was best to start a new one instead of an epic, 8 year thread revival.... First auto/semi auto car I've owned with the DSG box and had my first snow experience with it today..... well..... I'm still alive but was a little hairy! It's capable of driving on snow on flat ground but as soon as there was a slight incline- forget it.... turned into a hill, front wheels facing upwards and the rear wheels still on the flat... that's as far as I got and started to slide sideways/backwards. Fortunately nothing was behind/near me so didn't cause any accidents but I'll definitely be avoiding hills of any kind in the snow... The thread I'd found previously, some folk said the best way they found to control the DSG was to have it in D and slowly let off the brake pedal to allow gradual traction, as opposed to letting off the brake completely and too much torque going to the wheels.. I'll definitely give that a shot next time! What I was impressed with was the traction control and how no matter how hard you pressed on the accelerator, it didn't allow engine to rev its nuts off. Any advice/tips if your own to share?
  11. That's awesome silverden, you've just forced my hand into buying them.. thanks! :p
  12. Saw them on superskoda as well and considering buying a set- keep us updated if you go ahead with it!
  13. Awesome, thanks for that Tim! I'll update anything I hear back from the custom exhaust places I've spoken with
  14. Looking into performance exhaust systems for the Octy and ideally would like a sound controller- the only aftermarket one I can seem to find is the Remus but with a hefty price tag of around £1,800..... I've mailed a couple customer exhaust fabricators around my area as well but was wondering if there are any alternatives to the Remus which has a similar sound controller?
  15. Thanks for the info Steve, I'll check that out! .. been prowling around the MK3 section for a while now stealing some ideas!
  16. Picked up my MK3 TSI at the beginning of the month after trading in my Corsa VXR. Was after something bigger and the Octy ticks all the boxes.. and some! I had a progress thread on VXRO and figured I'd start one with the VRS as well! VXROnline thread: http://www.vxronline.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?287600-Baillie89-s-Progress-Thread I'm perfectly happy with the car out of the box, completely standard at the moment and will keep it that way for the first year while I still have warranty at least! Couple pics after a day of detailing!
  17. Thank you for all of your replies! Very helpful.. the AC being on during the winter is confusing haha but makes sense now! I'll leave it in auto and let it do its thing
  18. Thanks for the reply norsko! .. I'm just used to setting the fans at full blast to try and heat it up quicker- will let the auto do its thing and see how it goes!
  19. Brilliant thread! Ordered myself some chrome key ends and silicone case that I didn't even know I needed!
  20. First car I've owned with automatic climate control and I'm still trying to get used to it/figure it out.. one question I do have, is there any way to increase the fan speed while on auto, without actually having to manually change the dial, if that makes sense? Just feels like the auto option doesn't blow much out of the fans but I can feel it on my hands when I put them over the vents. Thanks!
  21. I skipped the introduction and posted in the buying a Skoda section- so a belated hello! Picked up an Octavia MK3 VRS on Thursday and absolutely in love! Moved over from the world of VXR
  22. Took the plunge! Traded in my VXR and picked up the VRS on Thursday.. what a car, completely overwhelmed with it and no regrets! Has so many goodies on the car I'm still discovering bits here and there.. the dealer didn't have the complete spec list.. any ideas how to go about finding that out? Had time today for a bit of polishing and sealing..
  23. 300bhp.. I'd say that's more than worth it haha. Found that APR and other similar places do it like you say- glad to hear it's worthwhile. Was it as simple as just the remap?
  24. Currently own a Corsa VXR and have had it for the last 3 years- tuned to stage 3 (230bhp) and a great, fun little car to drive... however was doing some online window shopping and came across a 2013 Octavia VRS with DSG and went for a test drive today... what a car.. Incredible build quality, lots of toys and gadgets for the price and it's pretty quick.. My Corsa feels quicker in the lower gears but on the motorway the Octavia is so planted and picks up quick. So I've reserved the Octavia, going over final figures and hopefully have a decision tomorrow. Just thought I'd sign up and have a browse! One question I do have- I seen a stage 1 Revo map can see it to ~300BHP without any supporting hardware (which btw is ridiculous for just a map!) .. are the engines good for this or is it recommended to change any hardware, whether it's even just the air filter or anything? Thanks in advance!
