  1. I just went to move my 2012 superb and when you put it in full lock to the left, just as it gets to the full lock, there is a spring stretch type of sound for less than a second. Nothing when you put in full lock right. No clunk's or bangs when driving (I live down a farm track).

    Has anyone experienced this?

  2. I have a 2012 Scout. Last week the drivers side washer came out and washed and won't do back in. The passenger side is working fine, both still spraying etc, but drivers side just won't go back. It's 10° outside today and been above freezing all week. So not frozen pipes.

Is there an easy fix? All fuses checked etc

    Thanks in advance

  3. So since I bought my scout, the passenger side of the front bumper has a slight droop. When wahing the car at the weekend I realised on the passenger side, the bit the arrow points at is straight and not curved luke the driverside. I'm not mechanically minded, so any help on what it's called and if it can be replaced to stop the droop would be amazing 😀

  4. I think I have a wiring issue. A few weeks back the fuel flap wouldn't unlock without the gentle pressure trick. But very intermittent, then the other week the back passenger door would unlock, then yesterday the mirrors wouldn't unfold and non of the windows would open with the drivers button and non of the buttons was lit up. I'm pretty sure the red light on the door was flashing all the way home too. Has anyone any ideas?

The photo is in the tube going to the door....

  5. My 2.0 diesel scout has started to make a kind of hissing/chuff noise when idling under rhe bonnet.  Its pretty central in the engine bay. It stops when you press the clutch then starts again  when to take it off. There's no noticeable loss of power or anything. I have a video of the noise but it won't upload

  6. So the Saga continues. The brakes and pads were changed, now less than 1000 since the new disk looks like this. At the moment Arnold Clark are refusing to replace it. In there word 'Regrettably, vehicles are prone to rust and as far as we are aware the car is fit for purpose and mechanically sound. As such, the branch has informed us they will not be contributing any further to the cost of work done to your vehicle'.

  7. So we've had the first proper snow since buying my 2012 diesel scout.

The haldex system definitely isn't working as it should as we took the 2010 one first and it went fine, but the 2012 had wheel spin, slides etc. They both have the same all weather tyres too.

I had the haldex oil changed in October last year.

Just wondering of anyone knows roughly how much I would be looking at getting the pump replaced.

  8. We have 2 scouts. A 2010 and  2012.

The 2012 feels like something is holding it back when you set off from parked and acceleration. It doesn't use any extra fuel really and non of the brakes seem to be sticking.

I'm not convinced the 4wd system is working right as when its wet and you hit a big Puddle the traction light lights up for a second or 2 and we took it to a muddy field,  we didnt get stuck but definitely had the front wheels spinning more than the rears. Could it be that which makes it feel less powerful? It's always felt a bit off but I generally drive it instead of the 2010 until the last few weeks and definitely notice the difference when I went back to it.

That's a new one on me! Disks delaminating! Seriously dangerous if that were the case!

Having a rusty lip on the outer brake disks diameters and the rust peeling away isn't unusual as there is nothing contacting the surfaces to keep them clean. In one of the photos the fact there is rust on the outer disc face and the inner is clean means there has been uneven pad wear so full contact between disk pad and brake disk isn't happening. So having vibration under braking is likely. Though as someone else as mentioned strange that the vibration continues after braking, maybe you have sticking brake pads or a faulty caliper? Does the car pull to one side during braking?

If the car isn't being used much or stood for sometime on a forecourt then it won't be unusual for the disks to rust. A few drops of water on a clean shinny cast iron surface and it's not long before the surface will turn brown as it starts to rust. This isn't much of an issue on a car that's being regularly used as any light surface rust is soon rubbed away by the brake pads. The longer a car stands and the heavier the build of rust build becomes especially if the car is at the mercy of the elements. Heavy rust will build up and clog the brake pads surfaces leading to scoring and uneven pad wear.

Cast iron is a very good material for using on braking surfaces as it's relatively cheap and has a good coefficient of friction which you want in a braking system, but unlike stainless steel it rusts easily. I'm not sure you'll get very far with Arnold Clark depending on how long you've had the car? Though if you don't ask you won't know.

I agree with the others the brake pads and disks want replacing though if you can do it yourself it doesn't have to be too expensive.

Literally less than 2 months and only done 425 miles since I bought it. I was told after a 2 week delay they had been working on the brakes. But I can't remember which ones they said they had done  I'm presuming the rest ones

  10. I recently purchased a superb from Arnold Clark. On testing and since picking it up it vibrates on harsh braking, like when stopping at junction. This then continues for a little while after pulling off. I was assured the brakes were checked and worked on before picking it up and this is what they look like now only after less than 1000 miles. 1 is drivers side. 1 is passenger side.

  11. Hey folks.

I've not long bought a 2012 Superb. How do I change the display in the centre of the dash? It Currently has the average MPG, temp displayed, bit I'd like to swap it. How do I get into the menu too?

I think it has maxi dot as when you open the door a car outline comes on it.

It had a multi function steering wheel too.

    Thanks in advance
