  1. Thanks Wino, took it in to a garage I've used before. Good couple of fellas who run it, it was misfiring on cylinder 3, so changed coil pack and its lovely. They had the coil pack lying around from when they changed the engine in their own fabia, so the never charged me, I just gave them a couple of quid for their trouble. Thanks for all your help. Morning, just dropped my wife off to work, cars still running like a slag, now the orange engine light has come on, but it's flashing? I have no clue 😩

  3. Hi, thanks for your reply, no the person who I got it off wS an elderly gentleman who bought it new and it was fully maintained at a dealer, whatever the cost. The warning lights have Co. E up before, the orange engine light especially and when I turn the ignition on, lots of lights o. The dash illuminate.
  4. Hi people, hoping someone can give me a few pointers although I'm crap with cars post 1982, so...... I have a 56 plate fabia 1.4 16v ambient, fab little motor car, done me proud since I got it nearly 3 years ago. Everything was fine today driving my wife to work then driving myself to work. Car stood all day, started fine and drove fine home, I had a quick shower, then went to pick up my wife. It was hot so I had the AC on and while I waited out side for her to finish I left the engine running and the AC on, so about 10 mins or so. I heard the fan kick in every now and then but the car stayed cool and the temp gauge never moved. When my wife finally came out and got in the car I drove off and it drove like a complete slag. It was jerking, pulling back, acceleration was completely flat, once up to speed it was better, but going up through the gears was awful. Don't understand because up to that point it was driving absolutely fine with now problem. There's no lights on the dash lit, nothing. Any ideas please? Really would be appreciated and as I said at the start I nothing about cars unless its a pre 1982 cortina or capri, so laymans term would be fabulous. Thank u in advance 👍🏼
  5. Well its all sorted and the steering is back to normal. I only dropped the car off at 9 and it was sorted out by 11. Found a decent and honest mechanic who used to work for VAG. On the phone he said it sounded like the pump, but it wasnt. Moisture in the pump caused a short. Cost me 80 quid all in all.
  6. Well ive checked the strip fuses and theyre all ok, i actually undone the nuts and inspected them. checked No. 7 fuse in the fusebox too and thats all good, so im just waiting for a midget friend of mine to come round, get under the car and look at the connection to the pump.
  7. Thank u both ill check out both and see if anything occurs
  8. Hi all and thank u for your help so far. It didnt happen again all yesterday and early this morning, but when i popped out an hour ago i got to the top of my road, the light flashed on again and the steering went heavy for a split second, then the light went back out and the pas cane back, so yeh i agree that my hope it was fluid level was a bit optimistic. So ill slacken the bolts on top of the battery and have a better look at the fuses. If not ill have to give someone a call because im hopeless with any car thats newer than a 1982 cortina thanks very much
  9. Well i checked the battery fuses and theyre all in good order, so i checked the fluid reservoir and all though it wasnt bone dry, it was very low and the fluid wasnt touching the dipstick at all. So i drove to a dealer and i topped topped it up, then drove home, again with no problems. could that have been the problem, or is that being to optimistic? And should i be looking for something else or just wait to see if it does it again, then carry on looking for a problem? again thanks for all your help

  11. Thank u both. Ill go and have a look at the top of the battery
  12. Hi, hoping someone can help. As i was exiting a carpark today, the amber steering wheel warning light came up and i lost all power assist. i carefully drove home which is less than a 5 minute journey, as i went over a small speed bump, which is not really a speed bump, but a small patch of uneven road, the steering warning light went out and my power assist was immediately restored. anyone got any thoughts on what could have caused this to happen? thanks in advance.
  13. Well ive been to Halfords and got a 382 12v 21 watt bulb, fitted it and it worked a treat. thanks to u both and i informed Halfords about the mix up, but it was a fella called Robert i spoke to and he didnt seem the sharpest knife in the drawer, so i may have to email them. thanks again.
  14. I think Halfords should be told Thank u both of u. Much appreciated
  15. Thanks mate, that must be the answer. I checked on the Halfords computer, put in my reg number and it came up with all the bulbs. it said for the brake light that its the 566 21/4w bulb. When i got it out the pack i saw it was a double filiment and wondered why. And the old one was too so i thought it must be right, but it was a right pig to fit. Halfords have obviously got it wrong. I will get the right one tomorrow. thanks for your help, much appreciated
