  2. I had an 096 battery sized sleeve in stock from a previous car and was able to use that. I agree the sleeves are difficult to source. I'm not convinced they are very important in our climate here in the UK though?
  3. A great choice , I did a similar upgrade but with an Exide AGM battery. The 096 size AGM battery has great reserves of power despite my car standing for many days at a time . The original smaller EFB battery was not very forgiving. The original battery sleeve (insulation) didn't fit but I had a spare of the correct size from an old car which I used. The battery leads reached the terminals without any problems.
  4. Apologies not 057 but 027 . I stand corrected. It's a bit of a pain that you can't correct a post some time after the event?
  5. The biggest battery that will fit the Mark 3 Octavia is the 096. The original battery sleeve might not fit if the original battery was the smaller 057 size. In my case I replaced the OEM 057 EFB battery with an 096 AGM from Tanya batteries . It arrived the following day. I coded it with OBD ELEVEN. In my opinion it is cheaper to buy your own OBD ELEVEN and supply and fit the battery yourself even if you never use OBD ELEVEN again? My OEM battery lasted just over 3 years and 5 months but lockdown didn't help and TBH I didn't charge it often enough during long periods when the car was parked!
  6. ,I've had a weird issue with my 2018 Octavia 1.5tsi petrol manual estate. The engine cut our completely after a warning came up on the mfd showing engine revs limited to 1700rpm ( or similar, can't quite remember) . The car had zero power.bWe were lucky not to be on the M1 South deathtrap ( no hard shoulder) as we had turned off at junction 33 to Sheffield. The car coasted to the side of the road as it wouldn't rev. The MFD lit up with random messages. The car wouldn't crank on the starter , but radio worked , all lights worked . Warning lights were random ,then went out completely. AA attended , plugged into OBD2 port but no power and no readings . After 45 minutes the AA guy tapped the 645 relay under the bonnet in the fuse/ relay box that provides power to the ECU. Car fired up and drove normally despite battery being somewhat depleted as I'd put all the lights on to warn others . The dealer claims that their scan showed no faults and could not replicate the issue. After much negotiation the dealer reluctantly replaced the relay free of charge . ( I said I'd pay if they wouldn't do it for free as I didn't trust the relay) Car was under extended warranty but dealer claimed Skoda wouldn't pay as the car showed no fault when scanned ! You couldn't make it up !! It seems fine now. Fingers crossed. I've scanned it myself with OBD Eleven and despite what the dealer said they have cleared some fault codes.
  7. Unfortunately rubber floor mats are more than 2 kg. But thanks for the reassurance.
  8. Thanks , I'll look at that possibility in the future. My issue is that the excellent genuine Skoda rubber footmats I bought ( along with other large items) from Superskoda, now Kopacek are now starting to wear ( at least the driver's one is) . They were superb value from Superskoda. I'm considering keeping the Octavia for another two years now and may take up the new "All in from Skoda". It goes in for an Eligibility check tomorrow. I've got to say the Octavia is the best new car I've owned after I had to start buying them for myself! I just wish I'd bought a petrol VRS Estate!
  9. I agree absolutely that many lighting items from Kopacek are well engineered but unfortunately due to the UK leaving the EU , ( I have my own reasons for doubting the practicality of that decision) it seems that buying items from Kopacek is now not so easy. I will miss that opportunity if I keep my Octavia until it needs more accessories . However for now my interior lighting issues are resolved. Thanks for your advice.
  10. I meant boot open warning on the MFD when the glovebox was open! Sorry 😔.
  11. Hi , I had all sorts of strange issues after I changed just the light units in the boot to eBay and AliExpress multi led type replacement units ( I had two sets)..Curiously my son in law had no such issues with units he fitted bought from Superskoda and when I borrowed them and fitted them in my car the issues I had went away . However being from Yorkshire and tight with money I persevered and replaced all the other incandescent bulbs within the interior of the car with led ones ( glovebox and overhead lights) , my car hasn't got ambient lighting or footwell lights. Once all the lights were replaced with leds all the open glovebox warnings on the mfd and alarm sounding issues and odd interior light dimming glitches went away. 2 years on and no problems. My car is a 2018 SEL Estate. I can only assume that the BCM or whatever clever system monitors the interior lighting didn't like the mixture of led and incandescent lamps?
  12. The umbrella is usually in the tray under the passenger seat.
  13. I've got a 2018 1.5 SEL manual estate. It was first registered in March 2018. It has never had the often reported kangarooing issue but initially it used to over rev on applying the accelerator pedal on moving away from idle revs . Bristol Street Motors Chesterfield applied a software fix and the over revving went away. I still find it difficult to match the sweet spot when going from idle to moving off . It tends to hesitate slightly. My other car an ancient 2006 VW Eos 2.0 litre turbo petrol is so easy to control in comparison moving from idle to part throttle but swallows petrol like there's no tomorrow. The Octavia can be almost incredibly fuel efficient on a long run and it is reasonably fast for a biggish car. The 1.4 litre Octavia Estate I borrowed to sample the vehicle type before I made the purchase I believe was faster and the engine more willing to rev and maybe slightly smoother but not as economical . I bought the 1.5 hoping the reliability from the engine updates applied to the 1.5 over the 1.4 would lead to greater longevity. I wonder which engine will be better in the long term 1.4 or 1.5? So far so good with mine!
  14. I'm no electronics engineer but the diodes are still present in the glovebox light units and the overhead light units after the change from halogen to led bulbs . In my case ( and it seems for others ) the cure for the odd tailgate open warning , interior light dimming and alarm problems is cured by replacing the existing halogen bulbs with led lamps in the glovebox and the overhead light units . The diodes are built into the glovebox light units and overhead light units and I didn't remove them . Why do multi led lamp units from Superskoda fitted in place of the existing single halogen boot lamp units (which are diode equipped) not cause problems when multi led ones from eBay and AliExpress do cause issues? I guess they all come from a large eastern continent?
