I have finally contacted my local dealer to have Smartlink enabled on my16 Octavia vrs. They have quoted me £158 for a part (I thought it was just a code) and £39 to have it fitted. I see figures recently of £145 ish. So £200 all in seems a bit much to me, Am I missing something? Any advice would be greatly received

So finally getting my backside in gear to activate Smartlink on my 16 plate Octavia. The quote I have is £158 for the part I need which needs to be ordered in and £39 to have it fitted. Does that sound about right?

I think I have read quite a few things wrong through all these posts. Can I not just swap my Amundsen screen for a Columbus screen? And keep all the rest of my gubbings

I have a Amundsen MiB2 (which I am thinking about replacing for a Columbus screen ) My system doesn’t currently have the Smartlink activated (I believe it’s a dealer set up @160 quid) My question is would I need to replace the screen before I update or would it not make a difference which way round I did it. Basically rather not pay the dealer twice Cheers

Thanks all for your helpful comments. It really does seem that the DSG gets a big thumbs up. Right now I need to convince my wife that I need to swap to one. Obviously it will be for her benefit so she doesn’t need to keep swapping form DSG to manual all the time. Wish me luck (I’m gonna need it)

All seems to be very glowing for the DSG. My wife has a 69 plate so it’s a TSI GTi the car isn’t really for me it’s fast alright but a bit small. As for engine I currently have a diesel VRS which is fine just jealous of the DSG a little

I currently have 2016 Octavia vrs manual. My wife has just bought a Polo GTI which is DSG. And I actually quite like it. As such I am contemplating swapping mine for DSG. Does anyone have any opinions as it would be great to hear from those that have DSG or driven both in Octavias

Not sure what a tpi is It’s definitely from the front

We have an issue that when turning the steering wheel there is a creaking type noise at low speed. Any ideas what this could be? Cheers Scott
