  1. I think the CTEK one i have just has modes, Bike, Car and Cold Weather don't believe it has this restoration mode you mentioned. I guess i could get some jump leads and jump start with my works vehicle and leave it running for a hours or so maybe this would give it enough juice? Regarding getting the new battery adapted/coded could i not get the battery and then get the adaptation done a few days later? or will it not work at all without this?
  2. No, no issue with start stop at all. Only thing I did notice was when I went to the car it was unlocked and I'm certain I had locked it the few days before. Can any garage code the new battery? Will I notice any difference going with an AGM over EFB?
  3. So my 2015 Octavia VRS was supposed to go in for an MOT yesterday but the damn thing wouldn't start, as soon as I got in the car I noticed when I turned the ignition that all the dash was very dull, turned the key 1 click sound and nothing, great!. Have a little CTEK charger pack so hooked that up and left if for a few hours, but even then turned it on the dash was bright again but turning the key just resulted in multiple and rapid clicks now. The entertainment head unit informs me of low battery and looks on the battery itself the yellow indicator is showing still even after being charged for 6 hours. The strange thing is this comes just after me going on a massive trip to Scotland not 5 days before so it's not like the car has been sitting for months with no use....which has been the case over the last year as now have a company car and my skoda in the past has been left for a good month or 2 without being used on at least 4 occasions in the last year and started without issue but now using it for a solid week with long journeys around Scotland and it does this a few days after!!?, so that seems a bit suspect to me and maybe not the battery? Is there anything I should check before getting a new battery?, and am I right in saying that you can no longer go out and just buy a new battery and swap it over??? (Modern technology hey!? 😤😤). Have attached a photo of the currently fitted battery, not sure if that's a stock battery or no but have that car like 6 years and never replaced it
  4. So over the last week I have noticed when getting into my 2016 VRS in the mornings after being parked over night there is the slight smell of what I think is petrol, after driving a few a minute or so the smell is not present anymore. I have looked under the car for any damp patches but seems to be all dry, any suggestion what could be the cause?
  5. Can i join the party!???. My 2015 Octavia VRS started doing this for a month now, BUT mine does it when driving!! anyone else had the message when driving?? Maybe does it once a week, flashes up on screen for a spit second and then disappears again, as it does it when driving it took about 5 time of it flashing up before i could piece together what it was saying 🤣 Whats the outcome of this?, easy fix yourself or as its a known issue does Skoda fixes for free even if car out of warranty???
  6. One thing i forgot to mention is they also tried to change me for 3 x£7 for coolant to top the system back up as they said the 'BLUE' coolant i had in the boot wasnt the right stuff and needed to be 'PINK'!!!. What does the colour have to do it!??. I told them to just top it up with water and ill add my own
  7. So just got a call from the dealership to say the service has been carried out and the issue with the coolant is indeed the water pump!!. They quote £988 to fix the issue wtf!!!! Contacted a independent specialist and they want £730, so cheaper but still a lot of money!!!. Has no class action been bought out about this part failing, as the failure rate is high and considering my cars only done 34k and the pump has failed suggested that the quality of this pump is crap!! Also do dealership still offer discounts if you say your part of this forum??
  8. For the last few months have been noticing wet patches under the front of my car when parked over night, when the car informed me coolant level was low a few days later I knew it was coolant which was leaking. I have notice the coolant is collecting on the engine bay tray at the front of the car and then dripping off that on to the floor. To started with I only had to top up the coolant once every 10 days but now 2 months on it's now every 2 days or so! I have the car booked in for a service with the local dealer next week and I mentioned the issue to them but they turned around and said I would have to pay a further £90 on top of the service which I took issue with and said its a service and inspection so why do I need to pay an attitional charge when the car is already in for a service and if the engineer is any good he'll spot the issue anyways. I understand this coolant leak with the VRS is a common problem?. What is the usual cause of this issue, pump or just a perished hose?. I'd hope its not the water pump at the car has only done 35k!
  9. In that case then the VRS models that have the factory 19" alloys have different gearing to the models that have the 18" alloys??
  10. So whilst I still have about 2mm left on my tyres, the rears have loads of cracks on the side wall and the front a few now also and I'm guessing because of this they are now classed as borderline illegal and possibly unsafe??, i was thinking of going to 45 rather than 40 for the profile sizeon my new tyres. Would this slight increase in tyre wall cause any issues at all??
  11. Is that what that plastic panel is???. So you think it's the condensation from the AC??
