*Sigh* pushed-in front parking sensors...
Jakester replied to Jakester's topic in Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023)
I'm afraid I can't give an answer as I ended up getting it done by a bodyshop - unfortunately some scrote decided to rearrange the creases on my passenger side doors with their feet when I was parked in town on a Friday night, so took the opportunity to get it done when the car was in then. I did think of using a glue stick heated and then stuck to the sensor to pull it back into place. -

Ah, thankfully figured out last night you can stop the parking sensors from activating automatically, so at least I'm not plagued with bleeping all the time when in slow traffic! -

Hmm, I think even a main dealer might struggle to claim it needs a new bumper... -

Front, unfortunately. Maybe for some, but I don't have the space to do it - I don't fancy attempting it on the public road. -
So, does anyone have any bright ideas for extracting a 'pushed in' parking sensor? I realised a parking sensor was loose when I recently washed the car. There's no evidence of any impact damage and the car was in warranty so I raised with the local dealership. They advised it's a bumper off job and sort of hummed and hah'd about any warranty issues. Anyway, it was loose but was working fine, so I haven't followed it up. This was only a month or so though. However, it's just been in for some new brakes, and as I collect the loose parking sensor is going spare. I pull over round the corner and check and it looks like the sensor has now been pushed further into the bumper than it was, causing it to trigger every time the car slows down enough to register an obstruction. I presume some well-meaning soul at the dealership has cleaned the car (couldn't tell as it's chucking it down!) and when doing so, has managed to inadvertently push the already-loose sensor back into the bumper. I called them from round the corner (raining, remember?) and they said to call tomorrow. Assuming they won't agree it's a warranty issue in the short term, has anyone successfully extracted a parking sensor so I don't have to drive round until I persuade them otherwise with it doing my nut? I am thinking something like a hot glue stick, melted and pushed against the sensor might work, but the problem is it's obviously very loose and the last thing I want to do is lose it inside the bumper! Any help gratefully received!

@dunc69 will be very interested in the outcome of this - I have a Sportline 272 and have been considering a remap, and I'm in the same part of the world, so would love to hear about your experiences with Avon if you do go ahead with it.

Hi @pwitty85. I had a Westfalia towbar fitted and it threw up all the same issues. Turned out there's a batch of dodgy modules doing the rounds. My installer replaced it and it's been fine since. Details in the thread below. Might be worth contacting your supplier of the parts to check whether you might have had a duff module.

Just to update this, Mr Towbar Man came back again, did a full reset/install (whatever technical wizardry he had to do!) again to clear any lasting errors etc and now all seems to be working properly again. Before, you could manually activate the blind spot and reverse assist, but every time the car was put in reverse, they deactivated with an error message. No idea what the problem was, but hopefully that's sorted it third time lucky! Got to hand it to the chap, he's happy to come back and take another look with no complaints. It only took this long as he was on holiday, but he did message me when he was away, so no complaints about the standard of service!

Mr Towbar Man has just been and gone, took 20mins, and everything seems to be fine, so fingers crossed! In case anyone else has these issues, he said it's a problem with the module power - it apparently just 'goes to sleep' when it shouldn't, meaning it causes the assistance systems to trip out , hence the intermittency. I haven't done any long drives as yet but I'll be pootling around over the next couple of days so will update if it's all still clear or not.

Well, I spoke too soon! All the warnings back up again. No use of the bike rack since the drive back, and the car has been used a couple of times in between. Quite frustrating, but I'm pleased it didn't go for 6hr drive back from holiday in crawling traffic! I spoke to Westfalia today and they said it sounds like a coding issue, so will speak to towbar man again, but also speak to a local indie garage who has VCDS/ODIS etc and see what they suggest. @IndeedFoxif you do have details of the work done or the module, that would be really helpful?
