  1. Would the aa pick it up from a mot station not a garage if it was a dangerous fault and take it to my chosen garage
  2. £600 is daylight robber, get it picked up by the AA or similar and dropped at kwik fit and have a weekend away with the £300 you will save sorry reading original post I wasn’t sure if it was marked as dangerous, if it’s still got a valid mot happy days just take away

  4. I have the 2.0 tdi and My fly wheel rattled its self to death at 90,000 miles and I was £1850 for clutch and fly wheel
  5. I wouldn’t waste your money on the golf shocks I tried them on my previous 14 plate octavia for the same reason and they had zero effect on the ride quality, ended up getting rid of the car because it was going to rattle my fillings out, I think maybe it’s the springs that are too hard rather than the shocks but I am no expert
  6. Hi sorry not an answer to your question but can I ask how much the DMF cost to replace, I think my one is on the way out , did you have any symptoms before it let go on the motorway thanks.
  7. Can’t help with droning noise as my car is not a 4x4 but it has the same engine and dsg box as yours, totally agree I found the way the gearbox worked in town was terrible, the only real solution is a tcu tune, check out a company called TVS engineering they do a drivability tune costs £400 though but completely transformed the car, makes it 100% nicer to drive expensive but worth it for me as most of my driving is in the city and I plan on keeping my car for a long time
  8. Check out TVS engineering tcu tunes If your wishing to change your shift points I went with there drivability tune because I was sick of the car being 5th at 31mph and 6th at 40 makes it a much nicer drive in my opinion, cost £430
  9. The spring will have a hairline crack in it and when it’s finally had enough it just breaks and because it’s under tension all the time it can happen when the cars not moving and
  10. Absolutely I checked the springs when the wife’s one broke and all looked fine and car drove as normal wasn’t until the garage had it on the ramp that they spotted the broken spring right at the very top
  11. I was once dozing in the wife’s car waiting for her to finish her weekly retail therapy sessions and there was a loud bang from the front of the car turned out to be a broken front coil spring.
  12. Stop start system Cutting in perhaps it does happen early while still rolling
  13. On the plus side there’s a taxi driver near me who has 100,000. Miles on his Dq200 7 speed zero issues he loves it.
  14. Thanks marky I will look into that, there’s always the peddle box option to avoid mapping it makes the car feel way more eager
  15. A big difference in my opinion when the car is doing a regen it’s much nicer it shifts into 4th at 32mph 5th at 45 and sixth at 55 when not doing a regen I.e 99% of the time it’s 4th at 27 mph 5th at 32 and 6th at 40 and sport revs out to far doesn’t feel nice around town
  16. Evening everyone can anybody shed any light on the Apr dsg tcu remap specifically the shift points in D I have read conflicting reports in the online forums some say it makes D nicer as it holds onto gears longer which is what I am looking for I find the way the stock dsg always shifts into 6th as early as possible frustrating especially around town. Any info would be appreciated cheers.
  17. Wouldn’t condone doing it but I would imagine if it was bad for the car vag group would have made it impossible to move the leaver to neutral without pushing in the button on the lever, the manual says it’s so you u can rock the car if it gets suck on in snow
  18. In my previous manual cars if car lost traction on snow or ice disengaging the clutch and removing drive from the wheels was usually enough for the car to straighten it’s self out, it would be nice to know if this was a possible with the dsg.
  19. That’s just for the dsg service I am afraid, not sure what a good independent garage would charge but it’s got to be less than main steeler price
  20. If I let it change down from 3rd to 2nd in drive then flick to manual it still happens when I get back on the gas unless I feather the throttle in very slowly and gently would not call it hesitation more like a small jolt, only happens from3rd to 2nd. The change form 4th to 3rd then back on the gas again is fine, another taxi driver with the same car Is going to let me try his so will post how that goes, maybe dsg needs recalibratd at the main dealers, it’s due a service soon. Thanks for the reply.
  21. Logiclee you might be the man to ask on this one 2016 2ltr tdi dsg 20,000 miles on the clock which I have done 3000 over those, it’s my first auto which I use for taxi work, when slowing down gradually off the throttle say for a tight junction or entry onto a round about that you would take in second it goes into second smoothly but I get a annoying light jolt when I reapply the throttle then it changes up to 3rd smoothly it’s just that initial throttle application that’s the problem is that because 2nd and 3rd are on different clutches? Or maybe it’s just pilot error, At all other times it shifts fine so I am not worried about any impending doom it’s just flipping annoying as this scenario occurs quit frequently over the course of my working day. Thanks
  22. Best £200 you will spend absolutely essential on the 150 diesel dsg in my opinion before fitting i just couldn’t drive in normal mode it felt like I was pressing down on a wet sponge not a throttle peddle, have mine set on city plus 2 and that’s perfect for me, car reacts as it should now.
  23. Yea I think it’s a Skoda rapid with leatherette seats and I taxi meter fitted I am sure I see him moonlighting on the rank on a Saturday night
