  1. We have a Leon to do any of the heavy lifting. It wouldn't be fair to have the Superb sit around for large periods. We'll have open-top fun with UK trips this year in the MX-5 if we can't go abroad.
  2. You know, I always regretted selling it. I still see the odd one come up for sale and stop and think.. There's one for sale at the moment with only 4k on the clock for £14k! It was only £12 new. The MX-5 should be a good replacement. Happy motoring to all you Superb owners, especially the 280ers.
  3. My internal hairdresser was calling... An MX-5 2 litre sport tech. I had a BRZ before the Superb and missed the fun. The Superb was great but not in the same way. I had a Suzuki cappuccino years ago and loved the top down fun.
  4. Traded in my Superb today as I no longer needed the space. I'll miss the power and comfort but I hankered after something smaller again. If anyone is looking for a well cared for 280 L&K, it's up for sale on Autotrader by SDM in Falkirk. I can let anyone know its details if they are interested. Thanks for a great, friendly forum.
  5. I should have said, it is not transferrable should you decide to change car within the 12 months. Then again, who'd want to?
  6. Bought the same warranty last September for my 280, David. £251.12 with a £250 excess for All component cover. 10k mileage limit.
  7. Just had really good service from David and the mechanic Andy at Parks. Kept me updated regularly, explained what had been done clearly and offered a service at a competitive price.
  8. It was a month and bit IN warranty!😀
  9. Well, today saw the return of my 2017 280 L&K with 20k that went into the dealership last wednesday with the EPC light on. It had appreared briefly one morning the week before but came on again on the tuesday before it went in. As a non technical-minded owner, I'll try and describe what they told me: The initially had the fault code showing turbo underboost but told me that it didn't reveal what was the issue. They contacted SUK and eventually came back to tell me that it appeared to be the the turbo actuator that was showing fault but that the electrics on it were ok. Apparently on the 4wd models it's a bugger to get to the unit itself. Three days passed and I got a call to say that it needed a new turbo. Speaking to the mechanic at collection today he told me that the turbo itself was okay but it was in fact the actuator arm that had seized. In the 2.0 that means the whole lot needs replacing unlike the 1.0 for example in VAG cars. I believe the turbo itself was around £1500 according the receptionist when I asked. They did say it was unusual to see a 2.0 in with this issue (the first 280 they've changed over a turbo). Loads of 1.0 and 1.4 with actuator failures according to them. My good lady's 1.4 Leon had that very issue 2 months ago. So...if your car isn't getting used, maybe give it a good run.
  10. Oh! I'm at the end of the three year one.😕
  11. Yep, same here. Anyone know what an additional year will cost from Skoda?
  12. Ha! My previous was a BRZ. The Superb was like driving my house initially (a very fast house!).
  13. Elson, you might want to read this: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/470903-start-up-noise-on-206kw-sportline/ Mine does the same. I never thought it was a problem!
  14. Charged the battery today and updated the Sat Nav maps to latest edition. So happy to work out that last one with help of eldest son. (Linux makes things awkward). Treated the leather seats to a clean and condition and "Pledged" the binnacle and Columbus screen. Looks a treat inside. Alas outside is becoming sandblown so will need a third wash without having turned a wheel...
  15. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/34816-henrys-south-glasgow/?do=findComment&comment=5365497 Just had my oil changed last month. Quite a lot of gunk by the look of it.
  16. Interestingly, they even have a laminated A4 sheet with a picture of a dirty unit and some text about why it's important to check and clean it. The service manager came over to point it out when I was sitting in the waiting area. The service reception is right at the back of the Honda dealership, incidentally.
  17. Just had the dealership undertake the haldex oil change today. They checked and cleaned the filter. There was a fair amount of "gunk" apparent on the video when they showed me the work. 2.5 year old car with 20k on it. They charged £99 for the work and Morris was friendly and eager to please. He couldn't understand why Parks wouldn't inspect and clean the filter when I asked them to price the job and neither could i!
  18. Well, I tend to take as I find and have never had cause to question their work previously. Yes. The diff oil will be an interesting question.
  19. They quoted £99. When I advised it was cheaper at Parks, he stated that was the national price. Given they wouldn't budge on the filter inspection, I didn't push for £20 off. We'll see how they do... North or South?
  20. I have been using Park's Skoda for my last two services without any real complaints. I asked them to quote for a haldex oil change which they did but when asked, would not check the flilter for blockage/debris even when asked specifically to do so. Henrys in Glasgow quoted slightly dearer but explained the filter would be inspected and cleaned without prompting. How easy it is to lose custom...
  21. I've had my Superb for just over a year now. It was secondhand and came with 19" alloys. I wouldn't recommend them for ride comfort but at least the DCC on comfort can help. Winter tyres with a soft compound are also fantastic on the ride quality. If you do short runs the 280 will drink the juice. My 7.5 mile drive to work is downhill there (ave 30 mpg) and obviously uphill back (ave 24 mpg) but I've seen 40+ on longer runs. The L&K seats are comfortable big chairs but not so great for holding you in corners. Four wheel drive is largely unnoticeable unless you pull away hard and it is just so reassuring. It's really a thoroughly enjoyable saloon/estate that gives virtually nothing away about its performance by the way it looks. I had a BRZ before it and I really don't miss it too much (well, a little for the handling) such is the breadth of its appeal.
  22. Nick, £189 as per the price for a car over three years old on Skoda's website.. I told them I didn't see what changed over the course of a year to make it cheaper and that was what I was prepared to pay.
  23. My 2 yr old 280 just had her gearbox oil changed at 16k this week. They said it wasn't needed yet. I said I still want it as I do mostly town driving and it's up and down the box constantly.
