So long and thanks for all the fish

Featured Replies

Traded in my Superb today as I no longer needed the space.

I'll miss the power and comfort but I hankered after something smaller again.

If anyone is looking for a well cared for 280 L&K, it's up for sale on Autotrader by SDM in Falkirk.

I can let anyone know its details if they are interested.

Thanks for a great, friendly forum.

Your quote from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy probably confused them all; going by the lack of response here!

I'm thinking more in the opposite direction about possibly getting a Superb Estate when I hand my lease Octavia back sometime within the next year.

I'm sure you'll miss it.. What are you replacing it with?

My internal hairdresser was calling...

An MX-5 2 litre sport tech.

I had a BRZ before the Superb and missed the fun.

The Superb was great but not in the same way.

I had a Suzuki cappuccino years ago and loved the top down fun.

The MX-5 will be so much fun, and we've good weather in the post! :)

You know, I always regretted selling it. I still see the odd one come up for sale and stop and think..

There's one for sale at the moment with only 4k on the clock for £14k!

It was only £12 new.

The MX-5 should be a good replacement.

Happy motoring to all you Superb owners, especially the 280ers.

 Change out of a twenty pound note ! You haggled very well !!!

There is a Cappuccino round the corner from where I live, and it is clearly very loved. Shame I can't fit in one, because I'd love to have a test drive.

You'll enjoy the MX-5...  I've had my MK1 since 1998 and doubt I'll ever sell it.

Great quote....when I retired from work I left an A4 sized note on my desk saying “ So long and thanks for all the fish”.

apparently it confused a number of people but I laughed to myself anyway 😂

Had to laugh when I read the topic title and laughed again when I read what the Superb replacement was. Now that is downsizing!

Heard the original radio version when first transmitted, seen the tv and film versions, read the four-part trilogy book set, but not seen the musical.

Going to have a nice hot cup of tea now and see what that generates :)

So why haven't you read the last 2 books?

It's a trilogy in 6 parts for the last number of years... Huge Douglas fan...

Nice choice on the replacement Groaver - if I had the option I'd have gone for 2 car option, but the 280 covers all bases for me

We have a Leon to do any of the heavy lifting.

It wouldn't be fair to have the Superb sit around for large periods.

We'll have open-top fun with UK trips this year in the MX-5 if we can't go abroad.

I donned my Dirk Gently detective hat to confirm that you are right, although strictly speaking it appears a trilogy in five and half parts :) . I have some catching up to do

My problem is I am an obsessive compulsive reader and gave up on books in recent years so my wife did not become a 'literary' widow.

I'm sure I can manage just two books though......right??
