  1. That’s crazy. This is a clear message not to buy anything from the VW Group as they aren’t being ethical.
  2. On 2 May we received a reply from the DVSA to our complaint which says: ” DVSA has now concluded its investigations. I am unable to comment on the specific vehicle but I can advise the cause has been determined as software related and the manufacturer advises there is now a software update available for this vehicle. As a defect and remedy have been determined DVSA has now closed this case. However we continue to monitor the situation post implementation of the update.” Has as anyone on this forum had this update applied and does it work or not?
  3. We got a full refund, having rejected the Karoq within 30 days or purchase, It took about a month to get the cash back. We used Which? to generate a letter and then tinkered with that. UK consumer law worked for us. We didn't bother to claim interest, petrol or other costs and didn't take a loan vehicle. We didn't deal with Skoda or VAG at all, just insisted that the dealer (Euro Skoda Crawley) took responsibility as is their legal duty. For those wanting to avoid such vehicles, the registration number was GV68 XPJ. Not a happy episode but we are at least free from VAG, and won't be buying any of their vehicles in future, as they shouldn't have continued to sell these vehicles when they knew they had this issue. Still waiting for the DVSA to get to the bottom of this.
  4. This is UK law, but I think it followed a European Directive - you would have to check you own country for specifics.
  5. This is the right to reject per Which?: 30 day right to reject Your early right to reject is limited to 30 days from the date you took ownership of the goods (this could be the date of purchase or the date the goods were delivered to you - whichever is later). After the first 30 days If you're outside the 30-day right to reject, you have to give the retailer one opportunity to repair or replace any goods or digital content which are of unsatisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as described. Tell the retailer whether you'd prefer a repair or a replacement, but bear in mind that it has the final say. But the retailer can refuse if they can show that your choice is disproportionately expensive compared with the alternative. If the attempt at a repair or replacement is unsuccessful, you can then claim a refund, or a price reduction if you wish to keep the product. Can I get a full refund? - the first six months If you've owned the item for less than six months, the retailer must give you a full refund if an attempt at a repair or replacement is unsuccessful. The only exception to this is motor vehicles, where the retailer can make a deduction for fair use after the first 30 days. It doesn't matter whether you bought your goods before or after 1 October 2015 - in the first six months from when you buy something, the onus is on the seller to prove your defective product was of satisfactory quality when you received it. It's not for you to prove that the faulty item was not of satisfactory quality in order to get it repaired or replaced during the first six months after purchase.
  6. You should reject the car and ask for money back within 30 days of purchase. Or better still don’t buy ŠKODA in the first place. They aren’t responding honourably on this one. Ours is rejected but still waiting the 14 days before commencing legal action against the dealer for our money back.
  7. Didn’t test drive this actual vehicle. Did test drive another but the salesman warmed it up and took it to the flat before I took over and started out.....

  9. Yes it was the manual. They are in notice that it is dangerous so shouldn’t sell on.
  10. It was dealer new - 5 miles on the clock, now 44. We've reported the issue to the DVSA as well, as should all who have the same problem.
  11. Just purchased a 1.5 litre petrol Karoq, having relied on best buy guides. A pity they and we hadn't read this forum. The engine loses power unexpectedly. This has happened several times, including pulling away from a junction, turning into a junction and going around a roundabout. It has happened with the engine cold and warm and in various gears including at least 1st and 3rd. This is a serious risk as three times the car was unable to complete a manoeuvre across a line of traffic and blocked the traffic flow. Fortunately, on each occasion the oncoming traffic was able to stop or go around the vehicle in time. But on other occasions this could cause a serious accident. After 39 miles of driving we have rejected the car, had it recovered back to the dealer through the Skoda recovery service and asked for a full refund as it is within 30 days of purchase. No response yet,,,,
