Thanks for the advice, I know they seem a big job but they don't look bad to do once your cracked on, the tools to get the sprocket off are they special tools or will I be able to find something in the workshop to remove them, I'm guessing it is some sort of puller? The car was on a 2 post ramp when serviced in Neutral so I wouldn't of thought the engine got turned back!

I will have a look tomorrow at the filter parts wont arrive till Monday for the chain so plenty of time you check,, will let you know the outcome! Thank you so much for the help I really appreciate it!

Also seen that I looked on the filer housing and it all seems to be sat flush, would it be noticable without removing the filter? In all honesty I didn't even look at the old filter, how big is the rubber seal and would it be noticable after installation

constant rattle since oil change, the sound definitely seems to be coming from the timing case, also seems to increase with the RPM too.

Sorry to start an old thread again but I'm having a rattle with my skoda fabia monte carlo 2013 1.2 tsi. Sounds like a chain rattle just wondering if anyone knows of any guides or videos that could help with replacement.

I serviced my skoda fabia monte carlo 2013 the other night and when it came to running the engine again there was an awful rattle from start up . Have seen some people having troubles with these engines relating to timing chains and was wondering if anyone has had any expierance with this sort espiacally, I've ordered a full timing chain kit and was wondering if anyone had any advice before I attempted the change, will I need any special tools or is there anything I should be aware of, if anyone had any links to a video or a guide at all it would be great, thanks already!
