  1. Yeah I wasn't sure if it's a setting or if it has been wiped with vagcom. It may just need coding in...?
  2. Hi, Thanks for your help. I have a 2009 vrs. It doesn't have the maxi dot display. I know the VAG group let's you open and close the windows on the remote. I've tried with the key holding each way and that doesn't work. So wondered was it only a feature related to another option I.e comfort pack. I love the idea of the rain sensor closing the windows tho. How good would that be.....
  3. Hi There, Something that's puzzling me is the electric Windows on my octavia. They don't work on the key remote and wondered if this not available on all octavias or can it be coded out..? Thanks in advance Maz
  4. Is there a chance within 12 years there potential that things will have improved and manufacturing has got better? I have bought infinity ecomax tyres they are Y rated and b rated wet grip. I was told rightly or wronlgy that tyre gradings are a volunteered by the manufacturers. My question here would be surely you'd say A A A to sell more....? I will 'tread' with caution but I'm always one to quiz stuff. Cracking I get is a quality issue but grip surely is a trade off over longevity I.e grip is a trade off for depositing rubber on the ground.
  5. That's interesting I may just apply and see what they say.. It's interesting that if the letter is an indicator of the speed and the speed is a conglomerate of many other factors. Also if I buy a 150 conti and run over a nail the repair will downgrade it so if you took out tyre insurance covering only a repair are you getting a degraded product..?
  6. Now thats what I'm thinking. If my diesel is going 168mph or indeed 186mph then something is wrong. What I'm also confused about is the physics of a rotating wheel whereby the axial speed is doubled at the top of the tyre and 0 at the base. So in theory say 135 top speed x2 is 270mph which neither meet. I know there will be an answer but just often made me wonder...
  7. I'll go Y's then but budget.👍
  8. Hi All, I bought a project vrs diesel but I've just noticed its got a slow puncture and the tyres are pretty well worn. So I wanted something cheap and there is an abundance of w rated tyres 168mph rating are these safe enough to use.....? Or do I have to go Y..? After all its not a 200+ car. Thanks for your help in advance
  9. Hi Micmac, Thankyou Sir all fixed..... It would never have occurred to me to do a reset. - much appreciated... 👍🏽
  10. Hi MicMac, Tbanks I will try this. Just checking will this reset my stereo as I'm not convinced I've the code for it.
  11. Hi All, I'm currently wondering what has happened to my rear windows. During COVID I bought a new battery swapped over and left the car. Unfortunately the battery went flat through 0 use. Have charged the battery I started it and all was well until I went to lower the rear windows. I checked and swapped the fuse out and this didn't fix it. The operation seems dead no clicks or sign of any power getting to the windows. Surely both actuators can't have gone at the same time..? Any help. Appreciated..
  12. Hi All, I'm not sure if previous threads have covered this but interestingly I've discovered there is an adaptor plate that you like for like swap out leaving the exact space for a vw shaped unit. In fairness there is way more choice and they are cheaper. I think they've been around a while but I'd never paid any attention
  13. Hi All, Little bit strange as I bought a high mileage vrs tdi. It is returning stunning mpg however I bought with the eml on showing P2015 fault. The other day I'm sure coincidence but had to inflate a tyre and then reset the warning. So turned ignition to first switch reset tyre warning. Turned again and fired up. Interestingly the ping nor the light of the eml flashed up. Continued a 30 mile journey and other short trips not flashed up yet. I'm sure it hasn't gone away but I wondered what and where is the sensor that generates the P2015 'irregular' or word similar signal to illuminate the eml light. Its also reported flaps perm open flaps perm closed. I'm now really thinking it's the sensor. Thanks for your help.
  14. Right, I've taken the plunge and bought the intake manifold and motor. So let's see what happens..... Has anybody else been and purchased one of these yet as I'd be interested to know. If I'm honest I suspect its just the motor element of the item that's faulty on my car. After fitting the 'bracket' it generated a new code suggesting intake flappers were closed code *066....…? Has anybody else had this... Would anybody know if there are any other parts required other than the intake manifold and motor....? Is there a sensor anywhere that I need or are they in the motor inlet..? Thanks Maz
  15. Hi All, I'm currently driving an octavia vrs diesel 2009. It has the dreaded plastic air inlet manifold it is showing the P2015 fault code so with help from other threads I managed to get the alloy bracket installed. This has resulted in 2 further codes claiming that 2 of the flaps are now closed...? In brief I was wondering has anybody bought one of those replacement air intake manifolds off of ebay they seam great value. Also wondered how difficult are they to fit..? Is it patience and methodology or is there major setting up and disassembly of other systems to remove Thanks all
  16. Hi Rallen, Firstly Thankyou for the original post as it certainly encouraged me to go for it and install. I too had the plastic manifold and so the torx bts face the engine block. For anybody attempting make sure you purchase the smaller bracket. Also note the machined cut out faces towards the nearside wheel. Therefore just make sure the thread also faces the block. I didn't have the luxury of the bahco set. I instead cut the top off the T30 torx. Only I ground a smidge off each of the hex faces and fitted the torx bit in a 6mm ring spanner. I also modified the little bracket and ground a slot ensuring the opening faced downwards when fitted. When offering up as Rallen says make sure the Allen bolt supplied with the bracket is only loosely tightened this aids with the blind fitment process. Once in place tighten into place. It is very fiddly and will require patience and the odd walk away for a cuppa...... Persevering will pay off. I also didn't feel I needed to remove the bottom of the air intake box. I have never taken so long to loosen and tighten 2 bolts but saw it as a challenge. Good luck to anybody about to embark on the install. Thanks again Rallen....
