Hi Langers2k thanks for the advice I do have a scanner and will go out in a few mins and scan it, No the yellow light was on all through the 25 miles drive home from the garage but the steering was working fine till the last 5 miles then the yellow light went red beeped but I lost the power steering, I never wanted to stop and just get the car home, when I got home I turned off the engine and restarted the car and the steering light went back to yellow and now the steering is working again. will go out in a min when my carer leaves and scan it I bought a Ross-Tech VCDS HEX-V2 3VIN which I have only used once I was going to find some tuts on using it correctly but I think i should be able to find a fault code

Thanks, its a new battery J.R about 4 months old and it's been on charge for the last 4 days, but I dont drive much so connections could be the problem, is it the plugs into the steering rack that will need checking? are there any others? all fuses are new

or can someone help me pick out a 2nd hand steering rack from ebay please? I have no idea which numbers have to match up and if it comes with the electric steering parts could really use some help please

Hi guys thanks for all your help on my other threads but now it seems I have a Suspension problem 😞 I had the shocks changed and then the power to the ECU went and I had loads of warning lights coming on so took it to a engine management specialist and he sorted all the ECU out and its running fine now but he did say the steering wheel had the yellow light still on and he said it may be the steering torque sensor, I was driving it home and planning to ask for advice on Briskoda but 4 miles from home the steering wheel went red and I lost power steering, I carried on driving as I was quite close to home, turned the car off left it a min and started the car up and the steering warning light has now gone back to yellow and the power steering has come back up and running. I rang the engine management specialist and he said it could be the steering torque sensor or could be the plugs loose. Can I get some advice please I couldn't afford to have that guy fix it as he said she would buy a new part from the main agents and I just dont have main agent cash and just paid him £250 to fix the ECU wiring problem, he put all new original fuses in and cleaned out the ebox as it was a bit corroded.

There was no power going to the ECU and all the fuses in the ebox needed cleaning out and original fuses needed fitting as some cheap one in there were giving a bad connection, The bloke said the other suspension was fitted incorrectly but I already have new ones to go in friday But he said the steering warning light is on and the warning light is the torque sensor steering rack warning code, No idea what that does, can anyone tell me please? and is it a sensor that needs changing?

I had a company test the ECU and they said it was working fine on the bence but did say it could be intermittent but not sure really as they were plugging me to buy one from them for £250. I need to get new connectors for my meter as they dont fit inside the ECU connector holes as there to small for the probe to fit in, I used taped on paper clips last time but it was a bit tricky, does anyone know the name of the meter probes that will fit in the tiny holes? I cant do much unless I know which pins to check as I dont know how to read wiring diagrams well at lest I got it booked into somewhere in a weeks time but it would of been nice to have sorted it myself

yea I have tried removing the battery lead a few times to see if it helps but no joy

yea central locking, electric windows etc work all working normally, I checked the No 1 10amp fuse and that is ok, funny though as when I turn the ignition on the rad fan goes on after a few secs, but when I took the No 1 10amp ECU fuse out the fan went off as it does when I take out the ECU relay in the ebox

I cant see where the wiring to the rad goes Wino but I did clear all faults and rescan the car and this is the 2nd time which was nowhere near as long but still cant seem to get into 01 engine status, done a port test and says must register would that stop it? where do I register? . . . oh that guy explained to me I had fitted coilovers not normal shocks and there more for rallying not sure it that would cause loads of faults to show up? have bought some normal shocks to go on after I get it started and will sell the other ones

Well it's here guys my lovely mother treated me to a HEX-V2 3 Vin so I could learn more about reading codes and fault finding, I best get to the ross-Tech forums and learn how to use the thing now .

Well guys I bit the bullet and bought a HEX-V2 its only 3 vin for £225 but when garages charge £50 a pot around here to scan your car I'm hoping it should pay for itself over time. I'm a computer engineer well I used to be before I was made disabled so I like playing with tech and enjoy learning new things. soon as I get it I will head to the ross-Tech forums and find out how to learn to use it, any advice or good video TuTs you may know of please let me know.
